Dennis Jude Perry, age 71, of Luna Pier, Michigan, passed away peacefully on 5/13/26 after a courageous battle with cancer. Despite the difficult road he faced over the past several months, Dennis showed remarkable strength and resilience and was surrounded by his loving family until the very end. Dennis was born on September 24, 1954, to Alton Paul Perry and Donna Jean (Baker) Perry, both of Erie, Michigan, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law Charlene Perry. He shared 51 years of marriage with the love of his life, Melanie Jo (Teachout)(Sigler) Perry, building a family centered around love, laughter, and togetherness. He was a devoted father to his five children: Danielle Perry Cousino (Jeremy) of Temperance, Sean Perry (Charlene) of Erie, Brooke Perry Lada (Austin) of Luna Pier, Loren Perry (Amy Bissell) of Temperance, and Joelle Perry Casley (Blaize) of Mesa, Arizona. Dennis was also a very proud grandfather to Jessie, Caden, Cael, Brenden, Brody, AJ, Abram, Emmersyn, Lili, Taylor, Miley, Samantha, Michael, Jacob, Jocelyn, and Jackson, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Dennis is survived by his siblings: Paul Perry (Sandy), Sidney Michaelson (Peter), Kathy Perry, Daniel Perry (Sharon), Norine Wasielewski (Glenn), and Diane Steinman (John). A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dennis served as Second Counselor to Bishop Nate Stamper and was deeply involved in his church. He was also involved in the local community throughout his life, most notably through his generous acts of service to others. Dennis worked hard throughout his life, holding positions with Wabash LaGrange, Kay Printing, Carolina Freight, ABF Freight, Tri-State, and Load One. Later in life, he taught aerobics and yoga at the Monroe YMCA, drove a bus for Monroe Public Schools, and worked as a CDL instructor and driver trainer. Above all else, Dennis loved spending quality time with his family. He cherished camping trips, traveling with his children and grandchildren, and creating lifelong memories filled with nature, laughter, and fun. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, and he spoke of them often with deep love and admiration. Dennis will also be remembered for his favorite cowboy hat, his Michigan shirts, his subtle sense of humor, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. A memorial gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life and share memories together will be held Saturday, May 23rd at 3:00 PM at the Luna Pier American Legion Hall #193. A private memorial service will be held at his church at a later date. Dennis’ strength, faith, love for family, and enduring spirit will live on in those who knew and loved him and will never be forgotten. Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
