David Charles Hayes

David Charles Hayes, age 81 of Zellwood, FL, formerly of Tecumseh, MI passed away April 22, 2021.  He was born January 16, 1940, in Detroit, MI, the son of Freddie & Iola (Evans) Hayes.  On December 29, 1962, he married Carolyn (Liggett) Hayes in Allen Park, MI.  She preceded him in death on February 16, 2008.  David served his country in the U.S. Air Force. David was retired from Ford Motor Company as a tool & die maker after 35 years of service.  His hobbies were fishing and riding his golf cart to visit friends including his gator watching neighbors. David is survived by his sons, Michael (Chrystal) Hayes and Eric Hayes; daughter in law, Leisa (Ketola) Hayes; grandsons, Kyle (Sarah), Matthew, Zack and Willford Hayes; great grandchildren, Brooke, Nathan, Jeffrey, Jack, Genesis and Micah; sister, Mary Ann Gillis; and niece, Sarah Gillis.  In addition to his wife Carolyn, he as preceded in death by his parents, Freddie & Iola Hayes; and son, Jeffrey Hayes.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM  Friday, April 30, 2021 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI with Pastor William Finn officiating.  Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, with Military Honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion & VFW Honor Guard.  Visitation will be on Thursday, April 29, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the J.
