Daniel O. DePew

Daniel O. DePew, age 81, of Adrian, MI, passed away March 17, 2018, peacefully at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. He was born July 31, 1936, in Garrett, IN, the son of Orville K. & Mary Rose (Weaver) Depew. On October 18, 1958, he married Mary Lee Lange, she survives.   He is survived by his wife Mary Lee DePew, his children, Stephanie (Kent) Deatrick, Dan DePew (John Koteles) and Diana Tiede (Tony Guerreso), daughter in law, Donna DePew his grandchildren, Amanda (Roy) Martinez, Jeremiah (Melinda) Courington, Autumn (Scott) Smith, Josh Morrow, Ryan Stewart, Matthew DePew, Jr. and Nicholas (Jordyn) Tiede, great grandchildren, D'Andre, Mekhi, Levi, Carter, Lexus, Haley, Madison, Kayla, Layna, Ranae, Macie, Audrey and Lyla, his siblings, one sister, Christine "Tina" Burke, one brother, Alan "Tuck" DePew and numerous nieces & nephews all of Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville K. & Mary Rose DePew, one sister, Sharon Brown, one brother, William DePew and his son, Matthew DePew.  Dan loved the outdoors, especially Pokagon State Park.  The family has many memories of picnics by the water, sledding & hot cocoa in the winter and summer camping.  Dan and his son Matt often rode motorcycles together.  At home, Dan loved tinkering in his shop, flying model airplanes and caring for his lawn with meticulous upkeep for anything mechanical.  He enjoyed Popular Mechanics magazine.  He and Mary Lee shared many memories in later years, bike riding through the neighborhood, evening trips to Cedar Point and several trips to Disney World.  Eventually their excitement came to city trips to Menards where each of them found treasures, and dinner dates.  Dan loved his grandchildren, his heart especially melted when they were small.  He enjoyed pulling them behind the lawn tractor for a tour of the backyard and taking them on scooter rides.  Many smiles can be remembered with good times with Grandpa Dan.  He will truly be missed.  Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 24, 2017, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday March 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
