Dale "Sonnie" Wyrick

Dale “Sonnie” Wyrick, age 83, of Tecumseh, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2026.  Born on November 11, 1942, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Roy and Thelma Wyrick, Sonnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to Jane Anderson for 54 beautiful years until her passing on August 22, 2022.
Sonnie retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of dedicated service. He was known for his love of daily drives, often heading out just to enjoy the open road and clear his mind. A master craftsman, Sonnie had an incredible talent for woodworking. His hands created beautiful pieces in oak that filled the family home — furniture and decor made with love for his wife Jane that remain cherished treasures today.  He is survived by his brothers, Jerry (Janna) Wyrick and Dean (Dona) Wyrick; his sister, Patricia (Duke) Wellman; his four children, Sam (Kim) Marcum, Dave Marcum, Amy Atkinson, and Brian “Jack” Wyrick; nine grandchildren, Evan, Cody, Josh (Cheyanne), and Gabrielle Marcum, Anthony and Nick Atkinson, Shelby (Jorden) Shaw, Cameron and Kyle (Mikayla) Wyrick; and five great-grandchildren.  Sonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Thelma Wyrick; his brother, Darrell “Pug” Wyrick; and his son-in-law, Ed Atkinson.  A joint memorial service celebrating the life and love that Sonnie and Jane shared will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, Michigan. Family and friends are invited to attend.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lenawee
