Clifford Garnsey Obituary

Clifford W. Garnsey   June 10, 1944 - March 21, 2020

Clifford Garnsey, age 75, of Adrian, MI, passed away, unexpectedly on Saturday evening, March 21, 2020.  He was born June 10, 1944, in Adrian, MI, Cliff was the son of Donald &  Doris Garnsey.  After graduating from Sand Creek High School in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country as an air traffic control officer overseas until 1966.  After returning home, Cliff hired into the Chelsea Police Department in 1967.  He later went onto join both the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department and the Village of Clinton Police Department.  Soon after beginning his career in law enforcement, Cliff married the love of his life, Karen Hess on April 25, 1970, sharing 49 years of marriage.  Following his passion for custom cars and motorcycles, Cliff was called to open his own custom motorcycle & body shop in Jasper, MI.  That love carried over to his classic car dealership, Adrian Auto Sales, in 1979.  That business occupied nearly three decades, until Cliff retired to join his wife Karen in her lifelong interest of raising and training German Shepherds.  Cliff was best known for his kind heart and genuine investment in others.  Whether he was enjoying car shows with his son Job, attending auto auctions or frequenting part stores, everyone knew Cliff by name and considered him a friend.  Although Cliff was a lifelong business man, Sunday dinners with his in-laws, traveling to the UP to visit family and spending time with his grandchildren was most important.  In addition to his wife, Karen, Cliff is survived by their son, Job (Sarah) Garnsey; three grandchildren, Ethan, Daniel and Abigail; his mother in law, Jean Hess; many nieces and nephews and very dear nephew and friend, Joe Garnsey.  Cliff was preceded in death by parents, Donald & Doris Garnsey, his brother, Don Garnsey, his father-in-law, Richard Hess and his son, Dan Ryan Garnsey.  Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
