Betty Sussex Obituary

Betty Sue Sussex, 74, of Adrian, was born to Joe and Dolly Lucille (Moreland) Scott on September 11, 1946 in Joiner, Arkansas. Betty was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 5, 2021 after a long and hard fight, but is now at peace. She was surrounded by family and friends during her last days, with her favorite music playing. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. We will miss her every single day for the rest of our lives and there aren’t enough words to honor such a special person. She married the love of her life, Howard Sussex on April 28, 1972 in Clinton, Michigan. She also leaves behind her children; daughter, Carol Gutierrez, and son in law, Damon, and son, Jason Sussex, all of Adrian; very special grandchildren, Alyssa Kuhn, Aaron Kingsley and Ethan Gutierrez, all of Adrian; her great grandchildren whom she adored, Amirah Buie, Marcos Buie, Trenton McKinney, Aarien Kingsley and KayLea McKinney; a very special sister and best friend, Cathryn Scott of Joiner AR; brother, Douglas (Shirley) Scott of Tecumseh Mi; sister, Patsy (Shawn) of Rector, AR; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and the following siblings: Joe (Jane) Scott of Malvern, AR, Wanda (Carl Mike “Sarge”) Vaughn of Adrian, Shirley Scott King of Wilson, AR, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Scott of Osceola, AR, baby Janice Scott, a baby brother of Bassett, AR, Marsha “Diane” (Bill) Pate of Truman, AR, Michael “Steve” Scott of Bassett, AR, and Donna Scott of Osceola, AR. She worked hard her entire life including at Peerless Gear for many years, and then as a Health Care Provider. Betty had a passion for working in her yard, gardening, and shopping to find the best deals. Her yard always looked like a park. It was so beautiful and always filled with flowers. She had the most generous, giving, and loving heart. It brought her great pleasure buying gifts for her grandkids. She loved holidays and always made sure her family had the best Christmases. Whether she knew someone well or not, she was always trying to think of a way to brighten their day and help them in some way. We would like to thank Careline Hospice and The Department on Aging for caring for Betty so well. Cremation has taken place through Purse Funeral Home, and a very special celebration of life with family and closest friends is being planned at her home at a later date.
