Betty Lou Spaulding

Betty Lou Spaulding, age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2022 at her home in Dundee, Michigan.

Betty was born in Junction City, Ohio on May 12, 1934, the daughter of Sidney and Nettie Fouts.  The family later moved to Stanton, Michigan where Betty lived until she was 15.  With the passing of her mother, Betty moved to Dundee to live with her father, Sidney, and her step-mother Erma.  In 1951, Betty married Dundee resident David Spaulding, Sr.  Dave and Betty lived in Dundee until 1979 when they moved to Adrian, Michigan to be closer to Dave’s employment.  Just prior to Dave’s death in 2005, Dave and Betty returned to Dundee. Betty lived independently in Dundee until the last few years when a variety of health issues gradually restricted her activities.  However, with the help of her son, Doug, and Kay, Betty was able to remain in her home until going to be with the Lord. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Sidney and Nettie; two sisters; three brothers; her husband David Sr., and her daughter, Debra Fournier. Betty is survived by her two sons, David (Diane) Spaulding, Jr. and Douglas (Kay Robison) Spaulding; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Betty was known by her family and friends as a woman totally devoted to her family.  With her husband of 54 years, her siblings, her children and grandchildren, and her friends, she was known as a person of integrity, strong and resilient, encouraging, faithful, appreciative, supportive and loving.  Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, and will always have an honored place in the hearts of those who knew her best.

Viewing will take place at Purse Martinez Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie Street, Tecumseh, MI, on Friday, July 22 from 2 pm to 5 pm.  A tribute service will be held at 5 pm, with guests invited to share special memories of Betty.  Sandwiches and refreshments will be provided downstairs immediately after.
