Bethel Applegate of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday, October 28th. She was surrounded by her daughters and other family members sharing stories and songs that she loved. Bethel was born in Floyd County, Kentucky in 1933, her family moved to Ypsilanti in 1944. She married Carl Applegate in 1954. They spent 66 years together before he passed on October 1st of this year. She is also preceded in death by her son Steven Applegate, granddaughter Amy Applegate, as well as her parents and six of her seven siblings. She is survived by her daughters Leann (Dale) Rogers and Lynette (Mike) Wood. Her seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, and her brother George Parsons. After her husband Carl retired from the Ford Motor Company, they enjoyed traveling the U. S. and Canada in their motorhome and spending many days at their cabin in Tennessee, and their vacation trailer in Manistee, Michigan. Bethel had a strong love of family and instilled that in all of us. She was a very giving soul, opened her home to all, and helped many! Her first love was spending time with family. As for dogs, she always had one or two by her side wherever she went. There was no one that the family dogs like to see more than her! When visiting, family dogs always knew grandma’s purse would be filled with dog treats upon her arrival. She loved doing crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, and always enjoyed spending time with her loyal canines by her side.
