Allen J. Balinski M.D.

At 63 years of age, Allen J. Balinski passed away on September 23, 2020 surround by his loving family. The son of Mary and John Balinski, Dr. Balinski was born on February 19th, 1957 in Detroit, MI. On June 12 th, 1987 he married Theresa Rivard in Warren, MI. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 and ½ years Theresa, his treasured children, Amelia, Michael, and Jason, and five grandchildren, Drew, Noah, Gabriella, Ivy, and Max. He was predeceased by his mother Mary, father John, and two sisters, Carolyn and Barbara. Dr. Balinski and his family have been residents of Tecumseh since 2003, moving from St. Clair MI. Dr. Balinski was a respected and compassionate physician, serving Lenawee county for over 20 years. A man of great faith, Dr. Balinski was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, as well as serving in the Knights of Columbus as a Knight of the 3rd degree. More than anything else in the world, Dr. Balinski enjoyed spending time with his family, grilling, and working on improvements to the home. He also spent his spare time woodworking, assisting his wife in her art studio work (activities which frequently crossed over in purpose), as well as an avid sports fan, following the Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. He loved bowling and mini-golfing with his children as well as traveling all across Michigan, especially enjoying trips with his family to Mackinac Island. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 12:00 p.m. (noon) Friday, October 9, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant.  Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.  Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday October 8, 2020 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
