Norman Pratt Obituary

Norman Edward Pratt, age 83, of Clinton, passed away November 13, 2019. Norman was born April 4, 1936 at home in Clinton, Michigan the son of Rudolph and Annabelle (Northrup) Pratt.  On May 25, 1957 he married Constance Hedges in Angola, Indiana and they celebrated 62 years of marriage.  After 33 years of service he retired from Ford Motor Company.  After retirement he worked for the Village of Clinton  He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his family, Norman enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a 3rd class Petty Officer on the USS Bennington aircraft carrier from 1956 - 1962.  He was presented with a Mutual Defense Award Badge of Honor in recognition of his heroism to defend the Taiwan, Quemoy and Matsu from Chinese Communist attacks.  Due to his love and respect for the military he and his wife Connie have contributed a great deal of their lives to the Piper Hull Sparks American Legion Post 176 in Clinton, Mich; establishing the site and remodeling the building, including a handicap ramp, painting, etc.  Acting as Commander he managed meetings, calling bingo and assisting with parades, funerals for fallen brothers and sisters of the military and many other events.  He was also an active member of the VFW and the 40et8. Norman is survived by his children, Margaret (Dale) Yarbrough, Tammy (Dennis) Carrick, Tracy (Dawn) Pratt, Trina (Matthew) Roe and Troy Pratt; 9  grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and loving sisters, Nadine Bancroft and Noreen (Bud) Hicks. He was preceded in death by his  parents; sister, Nell Jordan and a brother in law, George Bancroft. According to his wishes cremation has taken place.  Graveside services will be 1:00 PM  Friday, November 22, 2019  at Riverside Cemetery, Clinton with military honors provided by the Piper Hull Sparks American Legion Post 176.
