Neil "Edgar" Little

Neil "Edgar" Little, age 88, of Tecumseh, passed away September 25, 2017.  Neil was born October 16, 1929 in Argentine, Michigan the son of Neil Howard and Ruby Ida (Brunson) Little.  Neil was inducted in the United States Army May 25, 1951.  He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served in the Ordinance Corps as a mechanic until he transferred to the Army Reserve May 20, 1953.  After coming home, Neil married the love of his life. Joyce Jean Zimmerman June 24, 1957  and they had one child, Geneva Marie Little. Until retirement, he resided in Warren, Michigan.  Neil started his career installing furnaces in homes throughout the Detroit area.  As early as eighth grade he developed the skills of installing heating and cooling units in homes and commercial properties.  Neil was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 in Detroit over 60 years and was very proud of his contribution to the building trades.  He trained many apprentices and had many friends in the heating and cooling industry.  One of is favorite stories was being a part of the crew that installed heating and air conditioning at the Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn.  Many of his coworkers speak of him with deep respect  regarding his professionalism and work ethic.  Neil loved fishing, especially Walleye,  on the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair and Saginaw Bay.  He had a very adventurous personality and was independent until his last years.  He loved teasing those he cared about and often wore a hat that had a full head of fake gray hair,  It gave him great joy to  listen to the ill-humored comments of the ladies at Cambrian Memory Care.  He loved to laugh and enjoyed doing something to make everyone laugh.  Neil was very talented and worked on many houses and cars for family and friends.  He was dearly loved by many and will be remembered by everyone that knew him.  Neil is survived by his son in law, Dennis Putman; grandchildren, Jason Mervar, Dennis Putman, Jr. and Crystal Putman of Middleburg, FL; brother Neil David Little of Roseville; brothers in law, Phillip Gabriel, Lloyd (Alma) Davis, Christopher Huizer and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Jean Little; daughter, Geneva Marie Putman and sisters, Patricia Strahan and Francis Gabriel.  Memorial services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie Street, Tecumseh with Dusty Jordan officiating  Visitation will be 10:00 A.
