Juan DeJesus Martinez "Shorty"

Juan Martinez "Shorty", age  87, of Adrian, MI, passed away, April 5, 2019. He was born October 20, 1931, in Dolores, TX, the son of Cruz & Petra (Gonzales) Martinez.  He was retired from the Budd Company.  Juan was longtime usher and a Cursillista at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  He is survived by his two daughters, Eleanor (Raymond) Martinez-Miller and Esperanza (Terry) Martinez-Love, his grandson, Jermane Martinez, his grandaughters, Kristina Stevens, Nastasia Martinez, and Irene Martinez, great grandchildren, Promise Martinez, Jai-Lynn Ward, Derion Smith, Earlio Smith, Sarai Martinez, Alana Martinez, Aaliyah Martinez, Davontae Harmon and Na-Raya May Mack Henagan, his siblings, Esperanza (Jesse) Perez, Gloria Martinez Leza and Lynn Martinez.  He was preceded in death by his, parents Cruz & Petra Martinez, and his adopted mother, Petra Martinez, wife, Esther Martinez, his son, Cruz Martinez, daughter, Irene Ortiz-Martinez, brothers, Alberto Martinez, Cruz Martinez II and Arturo Martinez, sisters, Lupe Martinez, Alejandra "Alex" Martinez, Eleanor Martinez and Mary Martinez,. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 305 Division St. Adrian, MI, with Fr. Michael Newman presiding. Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Juan will also lie in-state on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at the church.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
