John Loop

John Loop, age 57, of Tipton, MI, passed away on February 5, 2017 into the arms of God surrounded by his loving family at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born June 26, 1959, in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of John A. & Inez L. (Haner) Loop. On May 19, 1984, he married the love of his life, Nancy Overmyer, and was more in love with her than the day he married her. John was currently employed with GM Powertrain in Toledo, OH. He started his career with GM in 1978 at the Willow Run Plant in Ypsilanti, later transferring to Toledo. One of his favorite pastimes was to cook and feed everyone; notably for his annual pig roasts and cook outs. He also loved to hunt, fish and follow the Detroit Tigers & Red Wings along with Notre Dame Football. The thing he loved most of all was caring for and spending time with his family. Anyone who knew him knew how fiercely he loved and protected his family and his friends. He would always do anything for anyone without a second thought, never expecting anything or taking anything in return. He was the happiest when he was surrounded by his three daughters: Sara, Lisa, his son-in-law Nate, Jamie and his wife, Nancy; his entire world revolved around them.  He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Loop, three daughters, Sara Loop of Tipton, MI, Lisa (Nate) Wandel of Chicago, IL, and Jamie Loop of Lexington, KY, three sisters, Debbie (Rick) Simota of Tennessee, Barb (Habte) Tecla of California and Marty Ashley of Belleville, MI, one brother, David Loop of Belleville, MI, sister-in-law Cheryl (Bruce) Stricklin, and brother-in-law Joe (Diana) Overmyer of Morenci, MI, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded by death by his parents and his brother Frankie Loop.  Visitation Services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM with an hour visitation before the service begins. A luncheon will follow at the Adrian Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made directly to them, so they may properly express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at both St. Joseph Mercy and University of Michigan Hospitals.  www.PurseFuneralhome.com
