Harley L. Byers, Sr., age 73 of Adrian, MI, passed away, January 13, 2018. He was born April 24, 1944, in Adrian, MI, the son of Paul & Lavena (Cornell) Byers. On February 16, 1975, He married Elizabeth Vaughn, she survives. Harley served his country in the U.S. Marines Corps. He worked as a security guard for many years. In addition to his wife Elizabeth Byers, he is survived by his children, Jamie Skinner, Alice Jane Byers, Michael Robert Byers and Jonathan Michael Byers, several grandchildrem and great grandchildren, his siblings, Jan Marie Thompson, Brenda Joyce Swain, Gary Lee Byers, Louie Byers, Andy Byers, Sandra Byers, Linda Byers, Nettie Ketchum, April Meade, Jennie Garland and Judy Quigley along numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Byers & Lavena Shewman, his step-father, Joseph Shewman, two sons, Andrew Joseph Byers and Harley Louis Byers, Jr., one brother, Earl Byers, two sisters, Pam Byers and Laura Grayless and a niece, Tracy Amos. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2018, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor Elias Correa officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Honor Guard. Visitation will also be on Friday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the J.
