Evelyn (Hutchinson) Atwood

Evelyn Atwood, age 77,  of Ypsilanti, passed away July 24, 2019 at Arbor Hospice Residence of Saline with her family by her side.  Evelyn was born March 9, 1942 in Cottonwood Point, Missouri the daughter of Mark and Rosie Hutchinson.  Ms. Atwood was a resident of the Ypsilanti area since 1962 coming from Tennessee. She was a graduate of Hamlet Robertson High School,Crockett Mills, Tennessee.  She retired from General Motors after many years of service.  Evelyn was a member of the Ypsilanti Baptist Temple Church.  She was a loving mother and mamaw. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Gayla (Robert) Greenwood of Clinton, MI; son, William Atwood of Redford, MI; sisters, Peggy Hooper and Wilma (Henry) Baker; grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholas Greenwood and Bella Atwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Elizabeth Lee, Stan Hutchinson, Lois Vaughan and Joyce Brown. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Ypsilanti Baptist Temple Church with Pastor Jim  Clay officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Udell Cemetery, Ypsilanti, Mi.  Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 P. M. Friday,  August 2, 2019 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and one hour preceding the service Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
