Eulamae “Mickey” McWilliams, 92, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Munson Medical Center, with her children by her side. Mickey was born on February 25, 1926 on her grandfather’s farm in Deerfield, Michigan to the late George L. and Ruth (McCarty) Smith. While attending high school she began work for the Petersburg Sun, in Petersburg, Michigan. She married Benjamin E. McWilliams in 1946 together they had tow children, Jamie and Kitty. She obtained her real estate license in 1964 form U of M. Moved to Traverse City in 1966. In 1968 she opened her first store, Mickey’s Mantle. Queen of Hearts, her second store opened in the 70’s, both in the Campus Plaza of Traverse City. She later opened a third store, Mickey’s Mantle in Suttons Bay. They remained in operation for 28 years. Mickey was involved in countless charitable affiliations. She proudly served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board for over 40 years. Mickey was elected and held every position offered. After her retirement in 1994, her love of music led her to sing in the St. Francis Choir. She acquired numerous friends and acquaintances. She always felt there was a need. Mickey is survived by a son and a daughter; Benjamin “Jamie” (Jannette) McWilliams and Kathryn “Kitty” Saylor. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Josette (Tom) Richardson, Andrew (Lacy) Quinn, Benjamin J. (Kelsey) McWilliams, Jenna (Justin) Huff and Bibi Anna Saylor, eight great-grandchildren; McKenna, Brynn, Tatum, Donovan, Dylan, Devon, Canon and Fallon, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters; June Beck and Arlene Hammack Lapham. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, MI with Fr. Daniel Wheeler presiding. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg, Michigan.
