Arlene Henson Swain Ford

On January 13, 2018, Arlene Henson Swain Ford, age 82, of Tecumseh, took the hand of her savior and walked with him into the Kingdom of Heaven.  Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, has departed this earth bound for Heaven's Gate.  Arlene was born May 12 1935 in Madison Twp., to Robert and Mamie Bowman Henson.  Raised in Blissfield and Tecumseh, she graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1953. In February 1955 she married Ronald D. Swain and her former husband preceded her in death in 2003.   After high school, Arlene worked as a telephone operator and she also worked at Ford Motor Company, but ultimately, she chose to stay at home to raise her children, a job which she considered far more worthy than anything else.  She loved dancing and she and her former husband were founding members of the Maple City Swingers Square Dance Club.  She also enjoyed doing genealogy, and sharing stories with her family members.   Arlene is survived by her children, Evette of Woodbridge, VA and Jody of Lubbock, TX and one grandson Jeff (Resa) of Ft. Carson, CO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, eleven sisters: Martha, Arabelle, Josephine, Anna, Hazel, Blanche, Dorothy, Frances, Eunice, Margaret and Betty;  seven brothers: Richard, Dallas, James, Bob, Norman, Gerald and Charles and 3 infant brothers from her father's first marriage.  Funeral Services will be held time 12:00 P. M. (noon) Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,Tecumseh, MI.  Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.  Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 P. M.
