Nancy Ann Burke, age 87, of Addison, MI, passed away peacefully at her home on June 11, 2026. Nancy was born in 1939, to Harry and Virginia Alley. She graduated from North Adams High School and for 66 years together with her husband Steve, made their home in Addison, where they built a life centered around family, routines, and traditions she held dear. Before life slowed down, Nancy and Steve enjoyed time together trying new restaurants and taking trips. Those moments together were simple, but meaningful. Steve passed earlier this year on March 21st and now, just 82 days later, Nancy has been reunited with the love of her life. She dedicated many years as a secretary for Addison Schools, where she was a familiar and steady presence. One of her greatest joys was being there during the years her children and grandchildren attended and graduated, proudly witnessing those milestones. Nancy was a true creature of habit in the best of ways. She found comfort and joy in all her routines and traditions. Her Christmas traditions were especially loved, with her tree always in the same place, her collection of snow babies, and themed ornament trees that changed with every holiday/season. She was always just a phone call away, often answering with her cheerful “hello,” ready to listen, talk, or simply check in. She had a kind, welcoming presence with a quiet strength. She had wonderful friends and family, whom she truly loved. In her later years, Nancy was surrounded with incredible care by the women and neighbors who helped care for her and Steve, bringing comfort and support to them both, along with her family being by her side in her final days. Nancy’s legacy is one of consistency, care, and love. She created a life where little things mattered, and traditions were kept. Nancy is survived by her daughter Dawn Burke and her husband, John (Brochu), her son Doug and his 3 children, Cammie (Ronnie) Kleinschmidt, Derek (Monica) Burke, Carly (Troy) Ries, daughter-in-love mother (Cathy Sumner Burke) and 3 great-grandchildren, Dane and Dakota Burke and Lila Ries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Virginia Alley, and brother Larry Alley. Survived by siblings, Jannie (Tom) Stanford, Terry (Norma) Alley, and sister-in-law Linda Alley, as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A joint celebration of life honoring both Nancy and her beloved husband, Steve, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to the Addison Fire Department in Nancy’s memory. Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
