Lynn Edward Crots, age 88, of Deerfield, Michigan, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on July 23, 2026, at Whispering Pines Adult Foster Care in Adrian, Michigan. Lynn was born on June 28, 1938, at his family’s home in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, to Rhobe and Grace Crots. He grew up on the family farm, where he developed the strong work ethic that would define his life. He graduated from Blissfield High School and, while still in school, began working at Tecumseh Products. In the 1960s, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Lynn’s Excavating. Later, he partnered with his son, Randy, as co-owner of Lasershot Farm Drainage, a family business they proudly operated for more than 35 years. On December 11, 1970, Lynn married Diane Hinkleman. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Lynn was a man who never stopped working. Whether at work or enjoying his hobbies, he was happiest when he had a project to tackle or a job to do. Lynn worked hard and pursued his hobbies with equal enthusiasm. He earned his pilot’s license before he even received his driver’s license and enjoyed flying his Cessna airplanes and Bell helicopter, often taking family, friends, and his beloved dog, Duke, on unforgettable flights around the Deerfield area. During the winter months, he loved snowmobiling, and he was well known for his success in tractor pulling competitions, winning many local events. Though rugged, resilient, and incredibly hardworking, Lynn had a gentle heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and took great pride in supporting his family and friends. He loved sharing stories, making others smile, and spending time with the people he loved most. Above all, Lynn loved the Lord. He was a longtime member of Blissfield Baptist Church and attended Deerfield Church of God. Lynn is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane Crots; his children, Brian (Lucy) Pirolli, Chad (Deanna) Crots, and Jason (Megan) Crots; his children-in-law, Pat Gallagher and Lisa Crots; his grandchildren, Josh (Renea) Crots, Nicole Gallagher, Danielle (Caleb) Hawkins, Brandon (Amanda) Pirolli, Alysha (James Liedel) Pirolli, Jaiden Crots, Haven Crots, Cade Crots, Zayne Crots, and Cason Crots; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Lyle Crots, Louie (Patty) Crots, Larry Crots, Les (Nancy) Crots, and brother-in-law, Tom Creque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhobe and Grace Crots; his children, Deb Gallagher, Randy Crots, and Denny Crots; his brother, Donald Crots; his sister, Darlene Creque; his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Vera Hinkleman; and many brothers-and sister-in-laws. Lynn’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the work he loved, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, strength, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service to celebrate Lynn’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Blissfield Baptist Church, 717 North Monroe Street, Blissfield, Michigan, with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions in Lynn’s memory may be made to an organization supporting Alzheimer’s disease and dementia research, such as the Alzheimer’s Association.
