Charles Eugene Sanders

Charles Eugene Sanders, age 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 25, 2026.  Charles was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions. He was an avid fan of Michigan State, loved the art of cooking for those he cared about, and took immense pride in his truck. Known for his stubborn streak, he recently surprised everyone by doing something he always swore he would never do—conquering his fears and flying on an airplane. Anyone who truly knew Charles knew where to find him on any given day, contentedly enjoying a good smoke on the front porch.  Above all else, Charles loved his family. To Charles, his greatest joy was his home, and he was entirely content to spend most of his time there, just being with his wife. His absolute favorite title was "husband." He loved his wife, Melody, fiercely, and never missed an opportunity to proudly introduce her or speak the words “my wife” with a smile that lit up the room.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Melody (Isaacson) Sanders; his children, Micajah Stegg, Christopher Knight, and Ebony Knight; and his cherished granddaughter, Madeena. He also leaves behind his siblings, Tawana Sanders, Herbert Sanders, Benior Wells, Kaliendra Wells, Jaque Williams, Britt Walker, Julieff Williams, and Antwan Williams; his siblings-in-law, Roxanne Sanders, Michael Isaacson, and Michelle (Stanley) Stevens; his father-in-law, Darrell (Valerie) Isaacson; his mother-in-law, Deborah (Martin) Isaacson; and his stepmother, Stephanye Wells. Charles will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews—DeVondre Sanders, TyRiana Sanders, E’Lecia Coleman, Xavier Sanders, Aryiana Sanders, Mia Sanders, James Herron III, Sarah Herron, and Jayce Parish—as well as a host of loving cousins and friends.  Charles was greeted in eternity by his parents, Verlindia Sanders, Herbert Sanders, and Charles Wells; his grandparents, Vera Howard Dunn and Mack Dunn, Emmit and Leona Wells, and Harry Sanders; and his beloved cousin, Curtis.  As he requested, Charles will be celebrated at a future date when his family can all come together to share memories, laughter, and love in his honor.  Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
