Carl G. Tiede, age 90, of Britton, passed away January 20, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born August 15, 1930 in Britton, the son of Gustav and Edna (Peters) Tiede. On June 26, 1954, he married Lucille A. Lawson. She survives. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was retired from the Tecumseh Products Company, with over 35 years of service. Carl was also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palmyra. Carl enjoyed polka music and polka dancing. He was a member of the Czech Club, Metamora, OH and the Millbury Fire Hall Polka Club, Millbury, OH. In addition to his wife Lucille, Carl is survived by his daughter Beverly (Chuck) Risch; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas (Holly) Risch, Aaron (Samantha) Risch, Zachary (Tera Rankin) Risch, Tyler (Danielle) Risch, Tiffany Lopez, and Cody (Erica Gordon ) Tiede; 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Mae Maschino and Donna (Paul) Griffin; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Tiede. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dale G. Tiede, and two brothers, Wesley and Frederick Tiede. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. James Schneck officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, where military honors will be performed by the Tecumseh American Legion and VFW. Visitation will also be on Monday, January 25, 2021 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral, Tecumseh from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service.
