Barbara Ellen (Steinaway) Armstrong

Barbara Ellen (Steinaway) Armstrong, age 72, of Brooklyn, MI, slipped peacefully into eternal rest, while home, surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, June 15, 2026.  Barbara was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by love, resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a cherished mother to Shannon Armstrong, Shawn Armstrong, and Sharlene (Jason) Morey, and a beloved Nana to Layken Morey, Nova Morey, Maniah Armstrong, Gunnar Armstrong, Annalee Lawson, and Dominic Lawson. Nothing brought her greater joy than the family she nurtured and the countless lives she touched along the way.  Among her proudest accomplishments was the beautiful life she built alongside her husband, best friend, and soulmate, Manith Armstrong. Their 53 years of marriage stood as a testament to enduring love, faith, and partnership. Barbara was reunited with Manith exactly six months after his passing, a reunion that brings comfort to all who loved them both.  Barbara is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother, Waldo B. Steinaway III, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manith Armstrong; her parents, Thelma and Waldo B. Steinaway Jr.; her sisters, Charlotte (Dave) Miller, Debera (Tiffany Partido) Gale, and Vicki (Thomas Rousculp) Rousculp; her cherished daughter-in-law, Cheri Armstrong; and her precious granddaughter, Briana Hall.  Those who knew Barbara knew a woman whose patience rivaled that of a saint, whose love reflected that of an angel, and whose strength carried the heart of a lioness. She possessed a rare gift for nurturing others, making her a maternal figure not only to her own family but to many who crossed her path.  She was known for washing scraped knees with the same soap she washed mouths with and, as many can lovingly attest, for sending children to pick their own switch from the very trees she had carefully nurtured. Her discipline was firm, her expectations were high, but every action was rooted in love.  Barbara will be remembered for her gentle hands that healed both scraped knees and broken hearts. She will be remembered for Sunday dinners that gathered four generations around one table, for gardens abundant enough to feed half the neighborhood, and for wisdom shared through stories that seemed ordinary at the time but revealed themselves as life's greatest lessons.  Barbara had a gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary. She saw potential in people when they could not yet see it in themselves. She welcomed everyone with open arms, believing there were no strangers in the world, only friends she had not yet met.  A life so beautifully lived leaves behind a legacy that death cannot diminish. Barbara's love, wisdom, and spirit will continue to guide her family and friends for generations to come. Her hands may be at rest, but the seeds she planted, both in the earth and in the hearts of those she loved, will continue to grow for generations to come.  Forever loved. Forever remembered.
