Alfredo Cortez, Jr., 62, of Adrian, MI, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Toledo, Ohio. Alfredo, better known to family and friends as Freddy, was born on June 3,1958 to Alfredo and Estella T. Cortez Sr., in the city of Adrian, MI. In 1979, he met the love of his life, Dominga Duron at church in Adrian. Freddy & Minga went on to have 5 children together, with each of them having one child from previous relationships, and raising a niece as their own, Terina (Chris) Burgess of Texas, Charryse (Anthony) Flores of Adrian, MI, Marc Cortez of Texas, Annika Proffitt, Angel (Matt) Stanley, Nia Cortez, and Carlos Cortez all of Adrian, Michigan. Freddy was passionate about his babies, two American Bullies Nibriu & JuJu, raising and training his dogs and helping his community. He was well-known for hosting block parties and BBQ's for the neighborhood children and families. In the late 90s Freddy managed a soul band "2 Deep In Harmony" and went on to have a successful Limousine, Security and DJ Service (Boss Playerz Ent.). Freddy was predeceased by his parents, Alfredo and Estella T. Cortez, Sr., his in-laws Stephen Duron Sr., and Betty Duron, his step-daughter Elizabeth Duron, two brother-in-laws David Duron and Louis Shead, six nephews, Ricardo Lerma Jr., Daniel Cortez, Matthew Olivarez, Jesse Torres Jr, Scott Parish and Josh Torres, one niece, Tina Torres-Parish, a great-grand son Edward Phipps Jr., and several loved aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Minga Cortez, his seven children, 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 11 brothers & sisters. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services & dinner will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Jesus is Lord Ministries, 3000 W. Beecher St, Adrian, MI 49221.
