William Scales

William Scales, 53, of Tecumseh, passed away in his home on September 14, 2019. Bill was born to Clifford and Janet Scales at Saline Hospital on July 1, 1966. Bill had an incredible bond with his parents. He was his mother's caregiver and his father's best friend. He and his brother grew up together on Ellsworth Road in Ann Arbor, Bill leading the way with Tom always close behind. Parties and family gatherings were always special events growing up together and throughout their adult lives.Bill graduated from Saline High School in 1984, and married his wife Wendy (Roughton) on May 25, 1991. Their life together was full of deep consideration for one another, passion and love that reached endless heights, and countless silly moments. They welcomed their son Joseph in 1995. With love, admiration and pride, Joe describes his father as a man who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Bill was a devoted father and a passionate husband. Bill was an extremely talented craftsman. A fourth generation Master Carpenter, licensed Electrician, skilled plumber and mechanic, he could build and restore anything.  His home and grounds are showpieces of his woodwork, automotive projects, and many beautiful pieces of furniture. He enjoyed drag racing, working together with his father and son, tractor pulling, cooking for his family and friends, and hunting. He was a problem-solver who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. He was always there to help out family and friends, and brought life and laughter to every situation. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. Bill is survived by his father Clifford Scales, his wife Wendy, brother Thomas (Patsy) Scales, and his son Joseph (Chelsea) Scales.  He is also survived by his Grandma Scales, many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Janet Scales. A memorial service will be held 6:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2019, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with preceeding visitation beginning at 3 p.m. at 210 West Pottawatamie Street, Tecumseh, MI 49286. There will be a vigil at 6 p.m. Donations may be made in his honor to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
