James E. Madigan
Age 83, of Tecumseh, formerly of Ypsilanti,
died December 30, 2004
He was born July 4, 1921 the son of J. Charles andvGrace (Lezotte)
Madigan. On June 18, 1949 he married Dorothea J. Mulholland. She survives.
He enlisted in 1939 in the National Guard 32nd Signal Company, serving
five years during World War II.
James graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1951. He was an
Elementary School Teacher and Building Principal for 30 years. He was also
a lifetime member of the Ypsilanti American Legion Post #282.
In addition to his wife Dorothea, he is survived by his children, Mary
Jeanne, Eileen (Frank) Rowland,
Patricia (Paul) Bacigal, James K., Thomas (Donna), Christopher (Therese),
John, Margaret, Kelly (Rick) Bulick, and, Carolyn (Peter) Rathsack; 25
grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two brothers,
Charles (Paula) and Norman; and three sisters, Ann (Joseph) Spreitzer,
Marie (Herbert) Wegener, and
Rosemary (William) Ulmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Daniel,
and sister Mary Grace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3,
2005 at St. Elizabeth Catholic
Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment
will follow in St. John the
Baptist Cemetery, Ypsilanti, with military honors conducted by the
Washtenaw County Veterans Honor
Guard. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Purse Funeral
Home. Tecumseh. An additional visitation will be held at the church on
Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass

Pedro Torres
Age 70, of Adrian, passed away August 6, 2004, at his home under the care
of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born April 3, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas,
the son of Florencio & Erlinda (Torres) Davila.
He is survived by his loving wife; Maria Olga (Perez) Torres, children;
Rick (Michelle) Torres of Adrian, Randy (Yolanda) Torres of Adrian, Vivian
Torres of Edinburg, Texas, Viola Torres of Toledo, Ohio, Pete (Karen)
Torres, Jr. of Tecumseh, Sandy (Brian) Cabello of Toledo, Olga (Richard)
Martinez of San Antonio, Texas, Debbie and her husband Robert of Houston,
Texas, Tammy (Ruben) Lizano of Adrian, and Frank (Dawn) Torres of Adrian,
brothers & sisters; Marta Davila of Poteet, TX, Lupe (Florencio) Briones
of Poteet, TX, Angela (Evelio) Ledesma of Delta, OH, Florence (Marcos)
Garcia of Metamora, OH, Mary Davila of Swanton, OH, Margaret Davila of
Metamora, OH, Linda (Joe) Gonzales of Metamora, OH, and Oralia Hernandez
of Orlando, FL, 45 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Baby Gilbert and
Gilbert when he was 21 years old, brother Joe Davila and sister Magdalena.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Adrian, with the Rev. Father Louis Komorowski as
celebrant. Rite of Committal to follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian.
Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Monday & Tuesday in the Purse Funeral Home,
Adrian. A Vigil Prayer Service will be recited by Deacon Calistro Torres

Ruth A. (Luce) Tester
Age 66, of Jackson, formerly of Adrian, died January 7, 2005. She was
preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1996. Survivors include three
daughters, Kathy Neeley, Julie Tester, Jeanne Seymour, one son, Jamie
Tester, one sister, Anita Schultz, one brother Robert Luce, Jr., and eight
grandchildren. Funeral Service 11:00 AM Wednesday at Purse Funeral Home,

Duaine "Whitey" Colson Meyers
Age 74, of Adrian, passed away, January 16, 2005, at home. He was born
September 5, 1930 the son of Frederick & Luella (Colson) Meyers in
Franklin Twp., MI. On August 5, 1956 he married Beverly Ann Hassenzahl,
she survives. Duaine was retired from Bohn Hydro Aluminum. He was a member
of the First Presbyterian Church in Adrian. He was also a member of the
North Adrian Grange. He loved fishing with his buddies and loved to travel
with his family. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Duaine is survived by his wife Beverly, three daughters; Pamela A. Pinter
of Mesa, AZ, Deborah L. Rumsey and her Husband JR of Onsted and Ellen
Marie Meyers of Hudson; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren,
his brothers; Donald Meyers and Archie Meyers both of Adrian and his half
sister Lucy Underhill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith Meyers.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the Purse Funeral Home,
Adrian, with Rev. John Guthrie officiating. Military Honors will be
conducted by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint. Visitation will be from
6-8 PM on Tuesday and from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the Purse

Wanda Lee Lane
Age 72, of Adrian, passed away January 13, 2005, at
Lynwood Manor. She was born January 28, 1932, in Adrian, MI to Lee E. &
Flossie (Brown)
Longstreet. She married Walter L. Lane on March 10, 1951. He survives.
Wanda worked for Shoppers Fair for ten years and lately for CVS - Arbor
Drugs for seventeen years, retiring in March of 2002. She was preceded in
death by her parents and three brothers, Lee Jr., Jay, and Donald.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at the Purse Funeral Home,

Lorraine Marion Balogh
Age 62, of Tecumseh, died February 16,
2005 at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian after losing her battle with breast
cancer. Lorraine was born Feb. 14, 1943 in Dearborn, MI to William and
Margaret Schalkofski Siewert. She lived most of her life in Herron, MI,
and graduated from Alpena High School in 1961. She married J. Allen Balogh
June 23, 1962 in Herron. Loraine and J. Allen moved to Tecumseh in 1987 to
their current residence. In addition to her husband Al, she is survived by
sisters Marlene (Roy) Bartz of Hubbard Lake, and Donna (Duane) Malburg of
Saginaw, many nieces and nephews, and her good friend, Lillian Siegert.
She had many other friends who will truly miss her. Lorraine worked at
Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh and retired from
there in 2004. She loved working with her flower garden and loved
traveling. Visitation will be at Purse Funeral Home of Tecumseh, Friday,
Feb. 18 from 10 AM - 1 PM, followed by a service at 1 PM with Vicar Ernest
Hoffman. A luncheon will follow the service. She will then be taken to
McWilliams Funeral Home, 504 W. Washington Ave., Alpena, MI where
visitation will be on Saturday, February 19 from 3 PM - 8 PM. Lorraine
will lie in state on Sunday, Feb. 20 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church,
Herron, from 2 PM - 3 PM. the funeral service will be at 3 PM.
Funeral liturgy will be presented by Vicar Leslie Nye and Pastor John
Kromer. Lunch will follow at 4 PM. Interment will be in St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church cemetery at a later date.

Bernice I. Duncan
Age 99 of Tecumseh, died March 17,2005, at Herrick
Manor. Bernice was born on April 4, 1905 in Tecumseh the daughter of
LaVern and Alma (Dove) Austin. On November 16, 1926, she married Harry S.
Duncan. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1977.
Bernice was a lifelong resident of Tecumseh and started working at the
Lilley State Bank in 1923 and retired as Vice President from United
Savings Bank in 1970. Bernice, along with her daughter Marda Gene, was a
recipient of the Musgrove Evans Award. This award recognizes outstanding
citizens dedicated to serving the Tecumseh Community. She was a member of
the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh.
Bernice is survived by a sister, Genevieve Rogers; niece, Patricia Rogers,
both of Clearwater, FL, and many devoted friends.
In addition to her husband Harry, she was preceded in death by her
parents, and her daughter Marda Gene Duncan on August 24, 1997.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30
p.m. at the Purse Funeral Home,
Tecumseh.
Funeral Services will also be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at
the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh with Tim Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh or the Lenawee Community Fund Foundation.

John Wallace Wyatt, Sr.
Age 76, of Devils Lake, MI, passed on, January 7, 2005,
at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness. He was born the son
of Wallace & Maybelle (Hemsoth) Wyatt in Detroit, MI, in 1928. He served
in the Merchant Marine & The United States Navy during World War II. John
was the Co-Founder of Boxboard Packaging in Norwalk, OH. He was the
founder & CEO of Venchurs Packaging, Nuestro LLC and Aidco International
in Adrian, MI. John was a Benefactor & Philanthropist to many local
organizations and charities. He was honored as Michigan Businessman of the
Year in 2004. John was an avid pilot and golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his two
sisters, Betty and Gloria; his children, John Jr., Elissa, Olivia, Jeff,
and Tracy, his loving companion Marie, eight grandchildren, three great
grandchildren and friends too numerous to count.
The family will receive guests at the Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian
Hwy. (M-52) Adrian, MI, Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday
1-4 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday at 4

Age, 88, of Adrian, died February 11, 2005 at Lynwood Manor. He was born
September 25, 1916, in Detroit, the son of William and Margaret (Carse)
Arnold.
He is survived by four daughters; Diana Mayrand of Flint, , Yvonne (Rev.
James) Schwandt of Harper Woods, Yvette Arnold of Kalamazzo, Jill (Greg)
McRoberts of Zionsville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 6 greatgranddaughters; and
a sister, Betty Sue (Ralph) Howlett of Defuniak Springs, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deathby his wife Lecia in
1958; son, John E. Arnold, Jr. in 2004; a sister, Olive in 1998.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in
the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with the Rev. James P. Schwandt
officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Ruth D. Morton
Age 79, of Adrian, MI, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2005, at
home. She was born January 28, 1926, the daughter of Jake & Ada (Peterson)
Hopson in
Mitchell County, North Carolina. On December 25, 1942, she married Montie
Morton, he preceded her in death.
Ruth is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Swiger, one son, Larry (Nancy)
Morton, four grandchildren; Michael (Denise) Ledyard, John (Kimberly)
Morton, Rick (Melissa) Morton, Michelle (Mitchell) Hill, nine
great-grandchildren, two sisters; Georgia S. Lavender and Fannie Higgins
and two brothers; J.H. Hopson and Jack Hopson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jake & Ada Hopson , her husband
Montie, three brothers; Floyd Hopson, Smith Hopson, and Johnnie Hopson.

Ray Martin
Age 69, of Tecumseh, passed away April 19, 2005. He was born May 20, 1935,
in Tecumseh, the son of Seaman and Ethel (Steele) Martin.
Ray worked at the Tecumseh Products Company. He was an avid fisherman and
loved riding bicycles.
He is survived by four sisters, Martha Hite of Seattle, WA, Mildred Moyer
of Tecumseh, Arlene Randolph of Tecumseh, and Jennie Morse; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers,
Tom, Robert, Marvin, Edward, and Seaman Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 in the
Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Phillip Arnold officiating.
Interment will follow in Raisin Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be

Age 12, of Morenci, went to be with the
Lord on April 24, 2005. She was born November 12, 1992, in Adrian, MI, the
daughter of Christopher Ransom & Susan Childers. Chelsea was a seventh
grade student at Sand Creek Junior High School. She enjoyed music,
dancing, singing, riding four wheelers and swimming.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by four siblings, Shalimar,
Eethan, Halie and Christopher, and a host of loving family members and
friends. Funeral Services will be held 4:30 PM Thursday, at The First
Church of the Nazerene, Adrian, with Rev. Larry Betz officiating.

David Paul Johnson
Age 61, of Clayton, passed away May 10, 2005 at
Bixby Medical Center. He was born November 17, 1943, in Adrian, MI, the
son of Dewey & Virginia (Phillips) Johnson. On September 5, 1965, he
married Sharon Lane, she survives. David served his country in the U. S.
Navy during the Vietnam Era. David was retired from Lenawee
Transportation. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his two sons,
Paul Leslie Johnson and Jeffery Allen (Keri) Johnson, grandchildren;
Elizabeth K. Johnson, Christopher D. Johnson, Reece Phillip Johnson and
expected new granddaughter, Kennedy Johnson, one brother; Dewey Lee
(Juanita) Johnson, and several nieces and nephews. Also
surviving are his brother-in-law Jerald (Joanne) Frazier and
sister-in-law; Sherry (Robert) Garcia
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and mother-in-law
and father-in-law, Helen & Leslie Lane.
Funeral Services will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2005, in the Purse
Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Scott Winstead officiating. Following
the funeral service, Military Honors will be conducted by the Adrian VFW
Post 1584 Annis Fint. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on

Wesley Herman Tiede
Age 68, of Britton, died, May 9, 2005, at The Toledo
Hospital.
Wesley was born April 15, 1937 in Britton, Michigan the son of Gustav and
Edna (Peters) Tiede. On November 13, 1965 he married Karen Pankotai in
Lincoln Park, Michigan. She survives.
Wesley worked in the construction field for over 44 years. After
retirement he owned and operated Tiede's Country Market in Britton. He
enjoyed working in the apple orchard, gardening, and taking his goods to
many Farmer's Markets where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow venders.
Wesley served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Britton American
Legion Post #155, Czech Dancers Polka Club, Millbury Czech Club, and SAC
Club. He also was a member of the North Blissfield Immanuel Lutheran
Church and a past member of their Council. His many enjoyments were
playing dart ball with the church team where he was one of the star
players and going snowmobiling with his family where he lovingly acquired
the nickname "Toby" which stayed with him his entire life. Most of his
married life was enjoyed going to polka dances where he and Karen made
numerous\ lasting friendships. Most of all, his greatest pride and joy was
his granddaughter Jenna.
In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by, two sons, Kurt S. Tiede
of Britton, and Brian W. (Kim) Tiede of Britton; granddaughter, Jenna
Tiede; mother, Edna Tiede of Britton; brother Carl (Lucille) Tiede of
Britton; two sisters, Dora Mae ( Ron) Maschino of Britton, and Donna
(Paul) Griffin of Burr Oak; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces &
nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Gustav and brother Frederick.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, Immanuel
Lutheran Church of North Blissfield, with Rev. Gary Leking officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery,
Blissfield, with military honors conducted by the Britton American Legion.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh,
and one hour prior to funeral services Saturday at the church. In lieu of
flowers memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of
North Blissfield.

82, of Adrian, died May 12, 2005, at Adrian
Healthcare Center. He was bor June 2, 1922 in McAllen, TX, the son of
Francisco and Evangelina (Zamora) Olivarez.
He is survived by three brothers; Alfredo Alonso, Pablo Alonso, Jose
(Mary) Olivarez of Blissfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco & Evangelina, one
sister; Rosa Olivarez, one brother; Benito Olivarez, and his longtime
companion Elena Ruiz.

Haba, John
Age 82, of Jackson, passed
away at his home, May 16, 2005, under the loving care of his
granddaughter, Laurie Sinden, his loving family and Great Lakes Hospice of
Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hannelore; two children,
Allen (Gail) Haba, and Heidi (Harry) Aldrich; six grandchildren, Steve (Brianne)
Sinden, Laurie Sinden, Jennie, Jon, Joe and Julie Haba; one
great-grandchild Bailey Sinden; niece Teresa (Victor) Biegay and
children; sister-in-law Gudrun (Richard) Jochim and family. He was
preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. John was a gifted
mason and mechanic who retired from Yardman of Jackson. He was the
founder of the Jackson German-American Club. John was a dedicated
volunteer to American Red Cross and Mercy Hospital. He was a member of
The Knights of Columbus, The American Legion and a vetran of The Armed
Forces. John played drums and trumpet for his band Die Lederhosen and
lived for his family.
A Memorial Mass will be
held 1:30 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2005 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic
Church in Jackson with Rev. Fr. Bernard Reilly as presider. Contributions
in his memory may be directed to St. Mary's Star of the Sea Parish and

Worley H. "Bud" Perry, Jr.,
Age 69, of Adrian, passed away May 17, 2005, at the
Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor surrounded by his loving
family. He was born the son of Worley & Mary Dee (Pierce) Perry, Sr., on
September 28, 1935 in Elizabethon, TN. Bud served in the U.S. Army
for four years during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his sister; Joan Perry of Adrian, his wife; Gladys of
Adrian, his children; "Louie" Wayne (Jo Schulze) Perry of Adrian, Marlene

Clarence E. Kopka
Age 90, of Britton, died July 22, 2005 at Herrick Memorial Hospital after
a short illness. On June 4, 1939, he married Evelyn J. Rosenbaum in Riga.
She preceded him in death on June 18, 1995.
He was a lifelong resident of the Britton area. He was retired from the
Tecumseh Products Co. in 1979. He is a member of the Daytona Beach Moose
Club and the Tecumseh Eagles.
He is survived by 3 sons, William Kopka and his wife Sharon of Holly Hill,
Fla., Larry Kopka and his wife Janet of Abilene, Kansas, and Robert Kopka
and his wife Gayle of Tipton; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, George and
William Kopka.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at Purse
Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Pastors Ron Brown, Chris Cadwallader, and
Rev. Richard Bruce officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills

Sheila L. Jones
Age 60, of Adrian, passed away July 12, 2005, at the home of her daughter
after a brief illness. She was surrounded by friends and family who meant
so much to her.
She is survived by her husband Gary; they would have celebrated their 46th
Anniversary in September of this
year. She is also survived by their daughter, Christi Decena and her two
grandchildren, Chelsea (Joshua) Pulcifer and Whitney Decena. Sheila was
one of eleven children of Charles and Ethel Lickfelt; both preceding her
in death. She is survived by brothers; Thad (Shirley) Lickfelt of Hudson,
Carl (Helen) Lickfelt of Brooklyn, Vaughn Lickfelt of Rollin, and her
sisters Charlotte Rubley of Adrian, Eunice Gottschalk of Manitou Beach,
and Pat (Jim) Kent of Idlewild, CA. She is preceded in death by her
brother Charles and sisters, Joy Dew, Margaret Downing, and Mary Meyer.
Sheila took much strength and comfort from her faith. A Memorial Service
will be given in her honor on Friday, July 15, 2005, at 1:00 PM in the
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Tecumseh, MI, with Ron Grimes
officiating. Sheila was dearly loved by many and will be extremely missed.

Daisy Dorothy (Altenbernt) Raje
Age 83, of Adrian, passed away July 13, 2005, at
Lynwood Manor. She was born November 9, 1921, the daughter of Fredrick &
Daisy (Edwards) Altenbernt on a farm in Dexter, MI. On August 16,
1941, she married Frank Raje in Detroit, MI. She was a member of the
Raisin River Anthology, Lenawee Area Writers and Mother's of World War II.
Daisy also wrote a Book of Poetry. She and her husband resided in the
Birdsall Area since the early 1950's and were owners of Maple City Rug
Cleaners.
She is survived by her husband; Fredrick, sons; Fredrick (Mary) Raje of
New Mexico, Norman (Jane) Raje of Arizona, Patrick (Sue) Raje of Adrian
and Roger (Linda) Raje of Adrian, five granddaughters, three great
granddaughters and two great grandsons, brother, Nelson Altenbernt,
sisters: Delma Dempsy, Florence Dingle, Katherine Purdy and Gloria
Altenbernt,
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Beatrice, Lillian, Vida
and brothers; Elmer & Noble.

Age, 84 of Tecumseh, died, July 26. 2005. She was born
April 2, 1921 in Conemaugh, PA, the daughter of Edwin and Florence
(Shaffer) Alwine.
She was an avid bingo player. She loved to make quilts and enjoyed
cooking.
She is survived by her children, Leslie (Maurleen) Gillin of Brooklyn,
Sharon (James Bowman ) Gillin Cardinal, of Ocala, FL, Bart (Cheryl) Gillin
of Tecumseh, Marvin Maynard of Ann Arbor, and Mervin (Nancy) Maynard of
Tipton; two granddaughters, Tracy and Adrienne, 9 grandsons, Kevin,
Jason, David A., David L., Jeff, Greg, Brandon, Mike, and Mark; 7
great grandchildren, one sister Erma Smith of Blairsville, PA; and
brother Marlin (Catherine) Alwine of Johnstown, PA
She was preceded in death by her daughter Judith and two sisters Esther
and Ruth.

Age 62, of Adrian, passed away July 27,
2005. She was born September 28, 1942, in Kingsport, TN, the daughter of
Worley & Bertie Thomason. On August 31, 1975, she married Calvin Carmean,
he survives.
In addition to her husband Calvin, she is survived by her children, Stella
(Gerald) Shananaquet , John Honeycutt and Roshell (Christopher) Myrick,
her grandchildren, Hollie, Cheyenne and Jonah Shananaquet, Kassandra
Honeycutt, Kaitlynn and Aimee Myrick, and a special niece, Linda
Harkleroad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard, one brother,
and one sister.

Age 70, of Adrian, passed away, July 29, 2005 at
Provincial House. She was born May 23, 1935, in Macon, MI, the daughter of
H. Russell & Mary
M. (Sherwood) Van Valkenburg. On November 3, 1953, she married Floyd E.
Lindsey, he survives. She was a graduate of Britton High School in 1953.
She was a member of Wellsville United Methodist Church. She most recently
worked at the Ranch restaurant in Adrian.
In addition to her husband Floyd, she is survived by her mother, Mary Van
Valkenburg, her siblings; Joyce (Bob) McTaggert, Richard (Patricia) Van
Valkenburg, her children; Rick (Judy) Lindsey, Mark (Traci) Lindsey,
daughter-in-law; Marianne George, her grandchildren; Teresa, Michele,
Jason (Sonya), Kylie (Nate), David, Nathan, Annie, Ashley, Joey, Jaime,

David B. Stowe
Age 81, died July 27, 2005 at Herrick Hospital. He was
born September 20, 1923 in Covington, OH, the son of Charles and Hazel
(Brown) Stowe. He married Mary Greene on February 27, 1951. She
survives.
David was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, enlisting in 1939. During
WWII he was a Navy Diver.
He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of the Tecumseh American
Legion.
In addition to his wife Hazel, he is survived by two sons, Jason (Crisencia)
Stowe of Silverdale, WA,
Michael Stowe of Lehigh Acres, FL; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

Age, 66, of Tipton, passed away, August
3, 2005, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November
26, 1938, in Adrian, MI, the son of Leonard & Bertha (Simpson) Bice. On
January 29, 1961, he married Lillie Armstrong, she survives.
In addition to his wife Lillie, he is survived by three children; Douglas
Bice, Donald Bice, and Darlene (Larry) Hickman, nine grandchildren;
Amanda, Travis, Nicki, Adam, Kashmere, Scotty, Ricky, Ryan, and Jamie, his

she survives. He was a member of Bethany Assembly of God Church in Adrian.

14, 2005, at Bixby Medical Center. She was born January 13, 1923. On
August 19, 1944, she married Donald Burand in Silverhill, Alabama, he

Lola worked for over 25 years at Berndt's Jewelry. She was a member of St.
John's Lutheran Church since 1952.

Age, 73 of Norwalk OH., died Sat., Jan. 21 at the
Medical University of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, OH. She was born Sept. 26,
1932, in Hardin County Ohio and was raised in the Tecumseh, MI area.
Leah regularly attended the Congregational Community Church of Christ,
Monroeville, OH. She was also a volunteer at the Salvation Army located in
Norwalk, OH.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She
always enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. Leah is
survived by her husband of 55 years, James Cross of Norwalk, OH,;
daughters Janet (Junior) Guevara of Sandusky, OH,; Vickie (Jim) Murphy of
Byron, MI,; sons James (Ellen) Cross Jr. of Byron, MI,; Greg (Kim) Cross
of DesMoines, IA.; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Freshcorn, father Clayton
Freshcorn; sisters Ruth Yoder, Mary Alice Garner,; brother Charles

worked as the Food Service Director for the LISD,including Britton
Schools. She also was a Realtor with Century 21.

of Adrian, went home to be with The Lord, December 3, 2005, at her home
under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born April 5, 1934,
Worley & Mary (Pierce-Smead) Perry, Sr. in Elizabethton, TN. She married
Arnulfo Flores, Jr. in 1959 in Angola, IN.
Mrs. Flores was a homemaker and a member of the Stinking Creek Baptist
Church in Elizabethton, TN. In addition to her husband Arnulfo, she is
survived by her daughter; Yolanda D. Flores of Adrian, two sons; David A.
Flores of Adrian and Arnulfo D. Flores of Adrian, three grand children;
Daniel Norden, Taylor Kapnick, and Ashley Norden, and her great
granddaughter; NaTasia Norden.

Hernandez Rodriguez
Age 72,
of Adrian, of Adrian, went to be with The Lord Savior on, December 3,
2005,
at Bixby Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1933, Guadalupe & Maria
(Alva) Hernandez, in Bryan Texas. Andrea and her parents were
founders of Calvary
Baptist Church. She worked as a cook at Siena Heights University and
Adrian College, moving to Chicago, Ill, in 1970. She retired with 25 years
of service with
AT&T, as an operator. Then she returned to Adrian in 1995, making it her
home again. She attended Iglesia Cristiana Bautista in Adrian, serving
with the Ladies Missionary Group. She dedicated her life to her family
with love and generosity. She fought the
battle of cancer and heart disease.
She is survived by her siblings; Aurelia Flores of Houston, TX, Jovita
Martinez of San Antonio, TX, Maria Campos of Chicago, IL, Naomi (Lupe)
Soto of Adrian, and Samuel (Rebecca) Hernandez of Adrian, three
granddaughters; Andrea (Gilberto, Sr.) Casanova of
Adrian, Reyes (John) Stuart of Nashville, TN, and Francesca Rodriguez

Ray L. Lee
Age 77, of Tipton, MI passed away peacefully at home
with his family by his side on March 28, 2006.
He was born on August 27, 1928 in Boone, Iowa to Tony and Goldie (Tayloe)
Lee. He married Catherine Hermann in Clinton, Iowa on September 25, 1948.
He was a life long member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers, retiring from commercial construction lineman work in 1990.
43 years of electrical work took him and his wife to many different
states. Following retirement, he and his wife fulfilled many life long
dreams of travel to every state in the continental USA and to many foreign
countries.
One of his best attributes, was the gift of knowledge that he passed on to
his children and grandchildren
with much time spent in conversation, debate and telling of stories.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, he will be sadly
missed by many.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Catherine, daughter Laura Miller of
Calumet, MI, son Jeff (Eunice) Lee of
Tipton, MI, his grandchildren: Jennifer Koenigsknecht, Loralee Miller,
Billie Miller, Kate Lee and Ray J. Lee. Also surviving are 3 sisters: Fran
Taylor of LaCrosse, WI; Evelyn Keely of Roseburg, OR; Dovie Lee of
Houston, TX and 2 brothers: Norman (Irene) Lee of Seattle, WA and Delbert
(Dee) Lee of Leon, IA. His
parents, 3 brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Age 71, of Onsted, went to be with the Lord on December
17, 2005 at Arbor Hospice Residence, Ann Arbor, MI.
She was born August 3, 1934, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Henry and
Laura (Garbutt) Kincaid.
Roxie was retired from J&M Automotive, St. Clair Shores, MI. She was
a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and St. Joseph Shrine Catholic
Church.
Roxie is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Terrence) Weadock of
Onsted and Laura (Mark) Hagan of Onsted; and 7 grandchildren, Angie and
Jared Cutlip, and Ryan, Evan, Tyler, Brendan, and Michael Hagan.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Miller; and two brothers,
James Kincaid and Earl Kincaid.

Dr. Anthony H. Bartolo
Age 76, died peacefully at his home in
Tipton, Michigan on Sunday, December 18, 2005.
He was born on December 30, 1928 in Valletta, Malta. In 1954, he graduated
from medical school in Milan, Italy. He moved to the United States in 1955
and did his medical internship at Woman’s Hospital in Detroit and then
completed his residency at Mercy Hospital in Toledo. From 1960 to 1965, he
served his country as a Major in the U.S. Army. In 1967, he opened his
obstetrics and gynecology practice in Monroe and on the staff at Mercy
Memorial Hospital until 1992. In 1993, he moved his practice to Tecumseh
and worked at Health Specialists of Lenawee until his retirement in 2001.
Anthony is survived by his five children, Helen Luther and her husband
Joe, of McKinleyville, California and their children, Brandon, Heather and
Stephen; Denise Shelle and her husband, Dennis, of Tecumseh and their
children, David, Danielle, Deanna and Dominique; Michael Bartolo and his
wife, Cheryl (Eby) of Tecumseh and their children, Rachel, Nick and Paige;
Bettina Pearch and her husband, Greg, of Monroe and their children,
Adrianna and Anthony and Monique De Leon and her husband, Mario of
Littleton, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ghislaine. He was a devoted husband,
father, grandfather and medical doctor. He will be sadly missed by his
family, friends and patients.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic
Church in Tecumseh, with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass
will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 22, 2005 at St. Elizabeth
Catholic Church in Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as Presider.
Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery with Military Honors conducted
by the Tecumseh VFW. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the
service on Thursday..
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Herrick Manor or a
charity of the donor’s choice.

Sondra Sue Elizardo
Age 52, of Adrian, passed away, April 4, 2006, at home.
She was born March 6, 1954,
in Adrian, MI, the daughter of the late Santos & Margaret (Brownell)
Elizardo.
She is survived by two brothers; Keith Elizardo and William (Lori)
Elizardo, her children; Amber Elizardo and Aaron Elizardo, and a
granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Matthew & Mark
Elizardo.
Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 AM, Monday, April 10, 2006 at St. Mary of
Good Counsel Catholic Church, Adrian, with Rev. Fr. Robert Schramm as
Presider. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
on Sunday in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. At the family's request,
memorial contributions may be directed to Purse Funeral Home.

Lupe A. Hernandez
Age 75, of Adrian, went to be with the Lord on
September 11, 2005 at Provincial House. He was born January 2, 1930, the
son Guadalupe & Maria (Alva) Hernandez in Bryan, Texas. He was retired as
an electrician from Wacker Silicon. He was an avid golfer, hunter and
outdoors man. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church and previously
attended Iglesia
Bautista Cristiana.
He is survived by his siblings; Aurelia Flores of Houston, TX, Jovita
Martinez of San Antonio, TX, Maria Campos of Chicago, IL, Naomi (Lupe)
Soto of Adrian, Andrea Rodriguez of Adrian, and Samuel (Rebecca) Hernandez
of Adrian, his children, Angelita (Russell) Dennis of Stuart, FL, Yolanda
(Brad) Mobley of Adrian, Joel (Kristina) Hernandez of Kaleva, MI, Julie
Ann
Jungwirth of Jensen Beach, FL, Daniel Hernandez of Palm City, FL, and
Louis Hernandez of Adrian, his grandchildren; Amy, Bilbo, Tiffany, Ashley,
Addie,
Joel, Autumn, Zachary, Phoenix, Jacob, Alex, Danny, Isabella, his great
grandchildren; Alexis, Juan, Taylor, Gavin, Anabelle, Alianna, and Ava. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe & Maria Hernandez and
siblings; Jesusa, Genevieve, Juan, and Bernabe.
Funeral Services will be held 6:00 PM Friday, September 16, 2005, in the
Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Doug Rogers and Rev. Benjamin De La
Cruz both officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM on Friday until the

Scott
C. Shultis Age 26, of Tecumseh, died
May 21, 2005. He was born April 6, 1979 , Adrian, the son of Gerald and
Patricia (Aebersold) Shultis.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1998. He just completed
his studies at Northwest College of Ohio and was scheduled to participate
in graduation ceremonies on June 3, 2005. He was a Journeyman Electrician,
which was a realization of his dreams. Scott was a member of the I.B.E.W.
Local 8 Union of Ohio. He was also proud and happy to be a member of
Bethseda Bible Church, Ypsilanti, MI, where he was active in the youth
group.
Scott is survived by his mother, Patti Shultis of Tecumseh; father, Gerald
(Debbie) Shultis of Clinton; sister Tara (Ross) Trumble of Onsted; brother
Kevin Shultis and his friend Kim of Tecumseh; grandparents; Charles and
Ethel Aebersold of Tecumseh, and Donald (Liz) Shultis of Onsted; many
aunts; uncles; cousins; special nieces and nephews, Emily, Makala, Holden,
Zachary, and Nicholas; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Leona Horstmann.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Purse
Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Leon Johnson officiating. Interment
will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Purse Funeral Home,
Adrian.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethseda Bible Church, 1800 S. Huron
St., Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
