Nancy Walkowe Obituary

Nancy Ann Walkowe, a beloved and cherished member of the Manchester community, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81. Born on November 26, 1941, Nancy was the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Zink) Walkowe. She was a beacon of positivity, joy, and care throughout her remarkable life. Nancy's thirst for knowledge and dedication to her education led her to graduate with honors as the Class Salutatorian from Manchester High School in 1959. She was deeply connected to her faith and found solace and strength in her membership at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Manchester. Her professional career was spent at the Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea, MI, where she worked diligently until her retirement. But it was through her role as a devoted mother, sister, grandma, and friend that Nancy truly left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her love and care knew no bounds. Nancy's joy knew many sources. She delighted in exploring local thrift stores and garage sales, finding hidden treasures that brought a smile to her face. Bird watching and nurturing her garden were activities that brought her a profound sense of peace and connection with nature. And who could forget her daily indulgence in an ice cream treat, a simple pleasure that she savored wholeheartedly. However, her greatest joy was undoubtedly found in spending quality time with her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her devoted sister, Neoma Reeter, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Nancy's legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Lyndsey Ebersberger, Chase (Katie) Ebersberger, Taylor (Tyler) Jorgensen, and Ryan Coulter. The laughter and love of her great-grandchildren, Peyton Coulter, Evelyn Coulter, and Olivia Borowski, filled her heart with immeasurable joy. Additionally, Nancy leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and warm spirit. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joseph and Frances (Zink) Walkowe, daughter, Susan Ebersberger as well as her brothers Frank Walkowe, Joe Walkowe, Harold "Jim" Walkowe, Bill Walkowe, and sisters Evelyn Dethloff and Gertrude Moore. In accordance with Nancy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private memorial service will be held by her family. In honor of Nancy's memory and her deep love for her grandchildren, memorial donations can be made to support their future endeavors. Contributions can be sent to 332 Westbrook, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jayne Long, Leslie Reeter, Carol Kuraz, Heather Walkowe, Stacey Walkowe, Sandy Moore, Dawn Moore, and Gail Miller for their unwavering support and assistance alongside Nancy's grandchildren in ensuring Nancy received the best care possible.
