Michael Cornstubble Obituary

Michael Ralph Cornstubble

We are sad to announce the passing of Michael Ralph Cornstubble of Jonesville, Michigan. He passed away peacefully at the age of 69 with family by his side on Saturday August 26, 2023 in Hillsdale, Michigan.  Mike, the eighth of nine children, was born on February 9, 1954 in Jackson, Michigan to Ralph and Lillian Cornstubble of Hanover, Michigan. He was a 1972 graduate of Jonesville High School. A life long farmer, Mike enjoyed being in the fields and working with cattle, with many years spent as a milker. A horse lover, he worked for several years as a trainer for harness racing. Mike enjoyed the outdoors and no matter the season, he preferred to be working outside rather than in. A jack of all trades, he could do just about anything. One of Mike's favorite things was working in his own garden. Working the soil and growing an abundance of vegetables was a passion of his and he was a very gifted gardener.  He was always the comedian of the family. At gatherings you'd usually find him entertaining the kids playing tricks, telling jokes, and acting silly himself. A story teller, he was always telling tall tales that he seemingly made up as he went but always left everyone laughing with many of his stories being told over and over again among family. His personality was magnetic.  Mike's greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with Jodie, his 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His greatest pride has been their own accomplishments.  Mike is survived by his life partner of 41 years, Jodie Bumpus of Jonesville; daughter Ronda Brown and son-in-law Eric Brown of Stafford, VA; son Jesse Cornstubble and partner Tim West of Sanford, NC; son Michael G. Cornstubble and daughter-in-law Cassandra Cornstubble of Hillsdale; grandchildren McKenzie Fitzgerald, Zachary Brown, Nicholas Brown, Nikkolette Cornstubble, Michael W. Cornstubble, Gracielynn Hill, Avery Brown, and Blakeleigh Cornstubble; great grandchildren Aspen Fitzgerald and Harlynn Wright.  He is also survived by sisters Patricia Anderson, Nancy Champion, Diana (Frank) Zamora, Cheryl (Rocky) Bumpus; brothers Dale (Sinead) Cornstubble and Bill Cornstubble; and dozens of nieces and nephews.  Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Cornstubble and Lillian Cornstubble; sisters Wanda Blair and Mary Bartell; brother-in-laws Ed Anderson, Don Champion, and Bob Bartell; sister-in-law Sherry Cornstubble.  Mike will be cremated with his cremated remains being buried at Mosherville Cemetery at a later date. Per his wishes, there will be no memorial service.  Arrangements with J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
