Matthew Mark Wetzel

Matthew Mark Wetzel, 38, of Blissfield, Michigan passed away on Sunday August 27, 2023, with his family by his side at the Hospice of Lenawee.  Matt was born in Jackson, Michigan to Mark and Diana Wetzel on December 10, 1984. He graduated from Blissfield High School, Class of 2003. Matt worked many years with Red Lobster while earning a degree in Accounting from Siena Heights University.  Matt loved being a dad and spending time with his two children. He enjoyed sharing his passion for playing soccer and volleyball with them. He has been, and always will be, their biggest cheerleader, fan, and supporter throughout their lives.  Matt was loved by everyone who met him. He was outgoing, friendly and kind with a great smile and intoxicating laugh. If there was music playing he would be singing along or busting a move. His creative hand and mind were put to work while he spent time drawing.  Matt is survived by his parents, Mark and Diana Wetzel; his two children, Jaeden and Braeden Wetzel, and their mother Natasha Wetzel; his sister, Kristen (Todd) Brown; his brother Shawn (Stefanie) Seeburger; two nieces Kendall Brown, Abby Seeburger; two nephews Luke Brown, Lucas Seeburger; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold Wetzel and Phyllis Rainsberger, Maurice and Anna DeNudt, and one aunt, Lorraine Olive.  Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2023 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Father Michael Newman of Holy Family Parish officiating. Burial will follow at Palmyra Cemetery, 5963 US-223 Palmyra, Michigan 49268. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J.
