John Richard Dewey

John Richard Dewey, age 79, of Adrian, MI, passed away, April 12, 2021.  He was born May 26, 1941, in Tecumseh, MI, the son of Richard & Wylma (Wilson) Dewey. John was raised in the Tipton & Tecumseh area. He attended Tecumseh High School and graduated in the Class of 1959. John was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country for 2 years, the last eight months in Vietnam.  On February 25, 1966, John hired into the Tecumseh Products Company. He started as an hourly clerk on second shift and retired on October 1998 as Human Resource Manager.  On March 20, 1998, John married Kathleen Munger, they were married over 23 years. During retirement they enjoyed golfing, traveling especially and Mackinaw Island and The Upper Peninsular. John was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Wylma Dewey; sister, Linda Harper; brother in law, Harold Harper; and nephew, Jeffrey Harper.  Beside his wife Kathleen; John is survived by his son, Chad Dewey; two granddaughters, Alison and Caleigh Dewey; two great grandsons and nephew, Doug Harper.  A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday April 20, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM with Military Honors and a Memorial Service starting at 3:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society or Housing Help of Lenawee Veteran's Dire Needs Funds.
