John Dean Ahearn, Sr. “Jack”, passed in peace on April 13, 2021 at the age of 69 in his home in Tecumseh, Michigan. He was born to Connie and Robert Ahearn in 1951 in Massachusetts and grew up with his siblings Patricia Carter, Anthony Ahearn, Mary-Jane Ahearn, and James Ahearn. After graduating high school, John met the love of his life, Mary, while serving in the U.S. Navy. It was love at first sight and during their 47 years together they raised 4 children; Tara Holm (Mats), Andrea Ahearn, Robert Ahearn, and John Ahearn Jr. (Julia) and had six grandchildren, Emil, Bryleigh, Matthew, Raelynne, Lathan, and Brecken. John loved his family immensely and they were his whole world. He loved spending time with his family; playing board games and sports with his kids, watching sports on TV (Go Tigers and Red Sox!), fishing, and telling off-colored jokes. He was a fine woodworker and crafted many beautiful items, as well as inspiring his family to continue the art. He also enjoyed assembling plastic models and reading mystery and military books. He loved talking to people and was known to have long conversations with wrong numbers on the phone. A Catholic Mass will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Tecumseh American Legion and the Tecumseh VFW. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church, one hour preceding the Mass. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lenawee in his honor.
