Gloria Stringer Obituary

Gloria Adele Stringer, our precious mother, grandmother, and friend was received by the Lord on December 2, 2020 at her home in Deerfield, Michigan under Hospice Care. She was born on July 22, 1925 in Sturgis, Michigan and was the only child of Robert and Pearl Fischer. She also had a dearly loved, stepfather, David Lawson. Gloria had five children with Earl Stringer; Earl Gordon Stringer (Brenda), Thomas Lee Stringer (Roxanne), Richard Alan Stringer (Cindee), Ronald Dean Stringer (Yohanna), and Kimberly Ann Wheelock, who passed in 2006. Gloria is survived by eight grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Stringer, Jade Stringer, Blake Stringer, Neil Stringer, Rowan Stringer, Christian Stringer, Sebastian Dunham, Autumn Dunham and Gabriella Stringer. Gloria had a life fully dedicated to her children. She pursued many hobbies including spinning and weaving, crafting, golfing and skiing. She loved reminiscing about her days at Ypsilanti High School playing the drums in the Drum & Bugle Corp and leading the marching band as a high stepping, baton twirling majorette. She adored her Grandma Fischer who played a major role in raising her. In return, Gloria helped her manage her boarding facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Early married life took her to California where she had 4 of her children and then back to Michigan where she had her last child. Gloria helped raise Christian, her grandson with Ron. Gloria took two safari trips to Africa with her daughter-in-law, Brenda, and simply loved those adventures. There was nothing that she would not try. She was totally devoted to her children. She worked with Kimberly at the Forensic Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They had a wonderful time working together. Trips with Kim took them out east to weaving conventions. They enjoyed crafting and playing golf. Gloria and Kim were inseparable. They were truly soulmates. Losing her little girl was an everlasting loss and she is now joined with her in heaven.Weekly Saturday trips to Meijer with her son Tom, were a joy for her. Telephone calls to her sons Earl and Richard during those trips were always greatly anticipated and loved. She loved “Black Friday” shopping trips after her Thanksgiving family dinner. Ron and Yohanna and their family shared daily family life with her in her home in Deerfield. She enjoyed family dynamics and received loving, attentive care in her last years. Gloria was a wonderful mother who will be missed forever until we see her again. She was loved deeply by everyone. On Sunday, December 6th at 1:00 PM; A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Deerfield Michigan, where she was a lifelong member. Due to Covid, the service and celebration of Gloria’s life will be a small private service limited to family members with Covid precautions followed.
