Elizabeth Jane Oestrike, age 85, of Manitou Beach, Michigan, passed away on August 22, 2023, unexpectedly at her home. She was born May 14,1938, in Deerfield, Michigan, the daughter of Earl and Myrna (Harsh) Betz. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1956 and went on to earn a Master Degree in Teaching from Michigan State University. On August 31, 1963, she married William Oestrike, he precedes her in death on August 4, 2021. She worked as a Home Economics Teacher in Petersburg, managed various school and camp food service programs and eventually retired from teaching GED preparation at the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, studying nutrition, sewing, daily meditating on the Word of God and being involved in Bible studies. Her passing from this life to eternity appeared seamless. Her Bible beside her as she sat down for her last earthly meal; God seemed to say “well done” as He ushered her to His heavenly table. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Janet) Oestrike of Manitou Beach, and daughter, Janel (Dan) Garno of Blissfield; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Caleb, Joel, Ava, Ian and Devan Garno; her siblings, Joan Prowant, David Michael Betz, and Beth Noeller. In addition to her husband William, she was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Myrna Betz; and brother, Wayne Betz. Visitation will be held at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The Celebration of Life Service it will be located at the Abundant Life Assembly Church,14977 Harper Rd, Cement City, MI, starting at 12:00 NOON on Friday, September 22, 2023. Preceding the Celebration of Life Service, an additional visitation will begin at 11:00 am and continue until the service begins at noon. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
