Deborah Ann (Debbie) Leahy

Deborah Ann (Debbie) Leahy passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023, at the age of 69. Debbie was born May 5, 1954, in Ypsilanti, MI, to Robert Joseph and Barbara Ann Leahy. She was one of 9 children, second to the oldest! Debbie was a loving daughter, niece, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend, and will be missed dearly. She was generous with everything she had, from her love and caring ways to opening her extra apartment to many family members over the years. Though her family circle was very large, she was an expert at making everyone feel special. She saw everyone, was invested in everyone's lives, and always showed up and supported her loved ones. She had a knack for finding that exact random thing most of us didn't even know we needed. She was a wonderful cook and often shared her love for cooking by providing meals for a sick relative or friend or making something delicious to contribute to a family celebration. Debbie had a genuine and truthful soul; you could always count on her to speak from the heart and speak with honesty. She was unapologetically sure of her opinions and input, yet her warmth, compassion, and care always shone through. Debbie had a genuine curiosity for the lives of her family, and she possessed a remarkable ability to make each person feel truly valued and significant. She paid close attention to the happenings in their lives and made it a point to reach out, reminding them that she remembered and genuinely cared. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert J. and Barbara A. Leahy, and Siblings, Stephen A. Leahy, Timothy A. Leahy, Elizabeth A. Leahy, and Diane X. Mixon. She leaves behind her older brother Robert (Joe) (Becky) Leahy, younger sisters Patty (Andy) Danko, Theresa (Kevin) Chesney, brother-in-law Mark Mixon, many nieces and nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 at St. Mary Cathedral 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing, Michigan Interment after mass at St. Joseph with Luncheon to follow back at St. Mary Cathedral
