Dean William Binder, age 86 of Tecumseh, Michigan, passed away October 15, 2021. He was born September 17, 1935 in Detroit, the son of Victor Dean Binder and Ruth Burns Binder. On October 6, 1956, he married Charlotte Ruth Anderson in Long Beach, California. Dean was a resident of the Tecumseh area since 1968. He was an installer and repairman for General Telephone Company. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a radioman and on-site participant in atomic bomb testing and the first hydrogen bomb test in the 1950s. He is survived by Charlotte, his wife of 65 years; his brother David; his children William (Cheryl), Matthew (Cindy), Connie (Sean), and Benjamin (Maryann); his grandchildren Ian, Stacie, Michael, Jessica, Nora, Kevin, Robert, Kendra, Megan, Ashley, Adam, and Caitlin; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Calvin Double. He found great joy in traveling with Charlotte, visiting all 50 states and numerous other countries. He enjoyed golf, shooting pool, and playing cards with his friends. Dean was a man who loved without hesitation. He was cherished by his friends and family for his great sense of humor, easy demeanor, and strength of character. Visitation and viewing will be held at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie St., Tecumseh, Michigan 49286 on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 3pm-6pm. Military honors will be take place at 4:00 P. M. conducted by the Tecumseh American Legion and the Tecumseh VFW. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in honor of Dean’s life.
