Carolina Jaimes McDonald

Carolina Jaimes McDonald, age 73, of Adrian, Michigan, ascended to the gates of heaven to meet her Jesus on Monday, June 13, 2022. After a lengthy journey with dementia, she traveled on peacefully surrounded by the ones she loved most in her home at Gaslight Village Assisted Living.  She was born, November 11, 1948 in Adrian, Michigan to her loving and devoted parents Andres and Pauline (Valdez) Jaimes who preceded her in death. After graduating Adrian High School in 1968, Carolina became a member of Local UAW 2031 and spent most of her career as an automotive lineman, going on to retire from General Motors of Adrian.  She enjoyed photography, scrapbooking, baking and all things Christmas - but she loved gardening most of all, and kept many beautiful gardens throughout her lifetime. Known most for her big smile and even bigger heart; Carolina leaves behind a large and devoted family who will miss her sparkle dearly. She is survived by her children, Carrie DeShea (Vincent) Swift and Dustin McDonald; her beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew and Alexa DeShea Swift who were the true Loves of her life. Carolina is the first of the Jaimes 13 to be welcomed Home by her parents and she is survived by her fiercely devoted 12 siblings, Robert (Margaret) Jaimes, Emma Jaimez, Andres Jaimes Jr, Amelia (Jere) Skeels, Richard (Sheila) Jaimes, Eva (Leopoldo) Gonzalez, Gilberto Jaimes, Anita Jaimes, Teresa (Johnnie) Smith, Linda Jaimes, Rudolfo (Celeste) Jaimes and Maria (Charles) Vanderpool; Her life long best friend Iris McDonald, and her stepchildren Kari, Michelle, Vanessa, Arthur II and their families will also mourn her. A Memorial Service in honor of Carolina will be held Monday, June 20, 2022, at  12:00 P.M.  at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. - 12 P.M. at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many hands that cared for Carolina. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Gaslight Village Adrian Resident Activity Fund may also be made.
