Kenneth R. Snyder, age 94, of Tecumseh, passed away
July 5, 2007.
Kenneth was born July 12, 1912 in Lafayette, Ohio the
son of Clyde and Jeanette (Slover) Snyder.  Kenneth
has lived in the Tecumseh area since 1999 coming from
Crossville, TN.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed
gardening.  Kenneth is survived by his son, Thomas
(Marie) Snyder  and daughter, Peggy Breitenwischer
both of Clinton; six grandchildren; and eleven great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen M. Snyder
in 1993.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place with
a private family burial of cremains at Lenawee Hills
Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.   Arrangements were
entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,

 2 Eula May Avery

 Tecumseh, MI
 
 Eula May Avery, age 86, of Tecumseh, went to be with
 her Lord July 3, 2007 at her home where she has
 lived for 68 years.  Eula was born in Jackson, Michigan,
 on October 24, 1920 to Rev. Pierre and Monabelle
 (DeCamp) Hawley.  

On October 24, 1939 she married Wm. D.
 Loren Avery in Ridgeway.  He preceded her in death
 on February 18, 1991.   Eula graduated from Britton
 High School in 1938.  She was a faithful member of the
 Tecumseh Evangelical Friends Church, Sunday School
 Class and Bible study group.  She served her Lord as
 pianist and organist in several area churches
 beginning in her fathers church when she was twelve
 years old.  Over the years she also served as Sunday
 School teacher, youth leader, orchestra director,
 and numerous other capacities.  Eula worked as a dental
 assistant in Tecumseh for Dr. D. L. Phelan for
 fifteen years.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great
 grandmother, great, great grandmother, sister and
 friend to many.

Eula is survived by two sons,  Floyd (Sharon) Avery
 of Georgia and  Dennis (Nancy) Avery of Indiana; seven
 grandchildren, Julie Avery of Idaho,  Jill (Robert)
 Ware of Idaho, Will Avery of Indiana, Matthew
 (Kerri) Avery of Idaho, Tina (Rodney) Smythe of Indiana,
 Tonya Avery of Indiana, and Milan Avery of Indiana; twelve
 great grandchildren, Jacob (Jenzi) Ware of Idaho,
 Ryan Smythe of Indiana, Nathan Avery of Indiana,
Chris Avery of Indiana, Christopher Ware of Idaho, Ashley
 Avery of Indiana, Kimberly Ware of Idaho, Anthony
 Avery of Indiana, Grace Smythe of Indiana, Alissa
Avery of Idaho, Alison Smythe of Indiana, and Joseph Avery of
Idaho; one great great grandson Tripp Ware of Idaho; one
sister, Naomi (Lee) Spohr of Adrian; one sister in law,
Leona Hathaway of   Tecumseh; and many nieces
and nephews.

 Funeral services will be 3:00 P. M. Monday, July 9,
 2007 at the Tecumseh Evangelical Friends Church with
 the Revs. David Kopka and  Michael Dunson
 officiating. 

Burial will follow in Ridgeway
 Cemetery, Ridgeway. 

Visitation will be 2 - 5 and 6 - 8 P. M.
Sunday, July 8, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral
Home, Tecumseh and one hour prior to the service at
the church on Monday.   Condolences to the family

Rosemary Ann Borgerson, of Tecumseh, passed away July
10, 2007.
Rosemary was born February 5, 1935 in Ypsilanti,
Michigan the daughter of Norvald and Vera (Thompson)
Borgerson.   She unconditionally loved her children
and grandchildren.  
Rosemary is survived by her children, Stephanie,
Kalley, and Julie; grandchildren; great grandchildren;
brothers; sister; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by children, Tommy, Jeffrey,
and Karen; brother; and her parents.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P. M. Saturday,  July
14, 2007 at the East  Montcalm Cemetery, Greenville,
Michigan.  Burial will follow.   Visitation will be 2
- 4 and 6 - 8 P. M.  Friday, July 13, 2007 at the J.
Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.  Condolences to

Mary Ellen Spreeman

Deerfield, MI

Mary Ellen Spreeman, age 78, of Deerfield, passed away
July 14, 2007.
 

Mary Ellen was born  October 21, 1928 in Britton,
Michigan the daughter of Harry and Leona (Theeke)
Amstutz.  On  April 1, 1948 she married Richard
Spreeman.  He preceded her in death.  

Her enjoyment in life was playing cards, bingo, and above all, her
children. 

Mary Ellen is survived by her sons, Gary (Rita)
Spreeman and Richard Spreeman; daughter Sondra
(Robert) Nagy; five grandchildren; four great
grandchildren; brothers, Harold, Samuel, and Dan
Amstutz; and sisters, LouAnn (Bruce) McCarty and Karen
Amstutz.

Besides her husband Richard, Mary Ellen was preceded
in death by a son, David; parents; and sister Rita
Sprunk.

Memorial services will be 7:00 P. M. Monday, July 18,
2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

James (Jack) R. Elledge

 

Adrian, MI

James R. Elledge, age 77, of Adrian, passed away July
14, 2007.
James was born April 2, 1930 in Griffithville, AR the
son of Cleveland and Lula  (Boatman) Elledge.  On
September 16, 1950 he married Blanche Fite in
Griffithville, AR.  She survives.  James was employed
at the Tecumseh Products for 43 years.  He was a
member of the Church of God of Prophecy where he sang
and played his guitar.  He also wrote many of the
songs he sang which the congregation enjoyed.  In his
earlier years some of his hobbies were hunting,
fishing and trapping.
Besides his wife Blanche, James is survived by his
children, Diane (Patrick, Sr.) Salter, Brenda (George)
Gilbert, Jackie Allen, and John (Karen) Elledge; ten
grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two step
sisters; two step brothers; a brother Elvis (Kaye);
and a special nephew, Wayne Elledge.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, July 19,
2007 at the
J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev.
David Bolton officiating.  Burial will follow at
Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.

Melva B. Young



Tecumseh, MI

Melva B. Young, age 80, of Tecumseh, passed away July 21, 2007 after losing her hard fought battle with cancer. 

Melva was born March 21, 1927 in Ottawa Lake, MI the daughter of Irvin and Edna (Glanzman) Sieler.  On October 16, 1947 she married Merelin A. Young in Ottawa Lake.  He survives.  

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and dog, Skippy.  Melva worked at Herrick Hospital for 17 years as a surgical aide retiring in 1988.  She enjoyed spending summers at her Sand Lake home and being with all her grandchildren.  She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.  She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tecumseh for many years and active in the Ladies Aid.
 

Besides her husband Merelin A., Melva is survived by her children Merelin L. (Pat) Young and Linda E. (Ford) Hyder both of Tecumseh; brothers  Norman (Phyllis) Sieler of Petersburg,      Walter (Donna) Sieler of Deerfield, Melvin (Connie) Sieler of Deerfield, Wilbert (Judy) Sieler         of Dundee and Leroy (Fran) Sieler of Tecumseh; sister Carol (Delmar) Cilley of Dundee; sister in law Delight Sieler of Adrian; grandchildren Tim, Scott, Keith, Julie and Tammie; great grandchildren Tyler, Walker and Adison; step grandchild, James; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Edna Sieler; brother Orville Sieler; and a grandson
Chad M. Steuwe.
 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor William Natsis officiating. 

Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 P. M. Monday, July 23, 2007 and 4 - 8 P. M. Tuesday July 24, 2007 at      the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee.

Elsa Kobel

Tecumseh, MI

Elsa Kobel, age 83, of Tecumseh, passed away suddenly, July 23, 2007.
 

Elsa was born December 6, 1923 in Lithuania the daughter of Hugo and                                                    Augusta (Hildebrandt) Damtschick. On February 1, 1941 she married Walter Kobel in
Lithuania.  He preceded her in death on May 23, 1985,  She was an accomplished seamstress                       retiring from the J. L. Hudson Co. after 31 years of service.  She enjoyed dancing, socializing,                           and was an avid card player.  Elsa lived and enjoyed life to the fullest and was a breast cancer survivor.
 

Elsa is survived by her daughter Karin (Ed) Riske of Chelsea; brother Helmut Damtschick                                     of Germany; grandchildren Michelle LaVigne of Madison, WI andMichael LaVigne of                                     New York City, NY; a beloved friend of the last twelve years, Charles Ives of Tecumseh;
his son Burl (Suzanne) Ives of Tecumseh; their children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents;  sisters Lydia Mingela,                                   Alicia Zimmerman, and Karla Bollow.

June Cook, age 77, of Alabama, formerly of Adrian, passed away July, 23 2007. 

 
June was born February 28, 1930, in Hamilton, AL, the daughter of Tildon and Laura (Sims)                  Sanderson.  On June 29, 1946 she married William Cook, Jr. in Alabama.  He preceded her in                              death on November 23, 2003. For many years she worked at Peerless Gear in Clinton retiring in 1994. 
She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

June is survived by two sons Jay (Beckie) Cook of Ellenton, FL and Steve (Debbie) Cook of Adrian;                   brother Preston Sanderson of Alabama; three grandchildren Ken (Tisha) Cook of Sand Creek,                         Hidie (Roger) Bowman of Onsted, and Steven (Cassie) Cook of Adrian; four great grandchildren Cody,              Clayton, Chloe, and Lacey.

Besides her husband William, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers.

Juan L. Herevia


Juan L. Herevia, aka "El llelerito de Laredo" and "Pancho". age 80, of Adrian, went to be with our Lord August 4, 2007. 

He was born December 9, 1926 in Cotulla, Texas the son of Trinidad and Catalina (Leal) Herevia.  On April 29, 1951 he married Daria Perez. She preceded him in death in 1983.  Juan dearly loved all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He was a "Real Cowboy, "  always dressing in western attire.  Throughout the years he worked at Bridgeport Brass, Harvey Aluminum, Martin Marietta, and the First United Methodist Church. 

 
Juan is survived  by his daughters, Catalina Burciaga and Janie (Steve) Navarro; sons Trinidad Herevia and Eulogio (Maria) Herevia; son in law David Burciaga, all of Adrian; adopted son, Rev. John R. Petree of Monroe; grandchildren, Gabriel (Belinda) Burciaga,
Nicole (Blue) Medel, Isaiah (Taylor) Burciaga, Christine (Michael) Verlinde, Steven Navarro, Modesty (Jason) Adams, Tracie Navarro, Amelia Navarro, Austin Herevia, and Mackenzie Herevia; great grandchildren Juve, Jeremiah, Azure, J. D., Jadah, Taylor, Mariah, Micah, Caleb, Ethan, Daria and Teagan. Besides his wife Daria, he was preceded in death by
his parents, sister, and an infant son, Juan

Juan touched many lives throughout his life.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Esther M. Bryja, age 68, of Onsted, passed away July 22, 2007 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by
her family.  She lost her 8 month battle with cancer.

Esther was born December 24, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan,  the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Szelag) Sieradzki.  
Esther graduated from St. Hedwig High school in 1956. She then worked as a secretary at Ford Motor Co.        until she married George Bryja on February 24, 1962 and left work to become a full time wife and mother.  In 1972, they left Detroit and moved to Onsted where they raised their seven children.

In recent years, she and her husband enjoyed several opportunities to travel as far as the Caribbean &
Australia.  She enjoyed reading, scrap booking, crossword puzzles, and always had a camera in her hand.                Right up to the last days of her life she crafted rosaries as a charitable contribution for people locally, as well as for 800 children at a school in Peru.  Esther was thrilled to be "Moma" to 17 grandchildren and loved helping to care for them.  Family was her whole world.


Esther  is survived by her children, Cathy (Ed) Foreman,  George Jr. (Jeannie), Karen (Todd) Bagdon,
Jennifer (Alfred) Brown, James (Kari), Robert, and Sarah (Grant) Tinney; grandchildren, Catherine,
Amanda, Alfred IV, Liam, George III, Joshua, Philip, Indigo, Zoe, Jasmine, Joseph, Abigail, Ashur, Seth,
Trinity, Ingrid, & Gabrielle; a sister, Dorothy (Sister Teresita); a brother and sister in law Frederick and Dolores.


Besides her husband George who passed this last Thanksgiving, Esther was preceded in death by her
parents.


A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church in the Irish Hills, with the  Rev. Fr. Carl Simon officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Shrine Cemetery, Brooklyn, MI

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
and one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. A scripture service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday

Milan, MI

Sue Lynn Stamper, age 45, of Milan, passed away August 12, 2007.
 

Sue was born July 22, 1962, in Tawas City, Michigan,
the daughter of Earnest and Linda (Alexander) Billiau.
 On September 25, 1993, she married Steven Stamper in Milan, Michigan.  He survives.  

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.  Sue attended the Saline
Oakwood Baptist Church.  
 

Besides her husband, Sue is survived by her children
Jennifer Detkowski, Steven Ray Stamper, and Earnest
Samuel Stamper; mother Linda Bennett; sisters Beth and
Charlotte; and aunt Cyn-d McDougal.
 

She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be 6:00 P. M. Wednesday, August
15, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,
Tecumseh with Rev Franklin  Radcliff, Jr. officiating.
 

Visitation will be from 3:30 P. M. until the time of
services at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Duane Thomas Gillin

Adrian, MI

Duane T. Gillin, age 83, of Adrian, passed away August 12, 2007.
 

Duane was born August 20, 1923 in Conemaugh, PA the
son of Merton and Jennie (Sensebaugh) Gillin.    On
June 8, 1947  he married Maxine Robertson in  Adrian
and they just celebrated 60 years of marriage.  She
survives. 

Duane was a veteran of the United States
Army serving during World War II.  His loves were
pitching horseshoes, hunting, gardening, and being
outdoors.  
 

Duane was a member of the Adrian First Church of the
Brethren, the Gideon Camp, the Wolverine State
Horseshoe Club, and cofounder of the River Raisin
Horseshoe Club.
 

Besides his wife Maxine, Duane is survived by his
children Claudia (Thomas) Carpenter, Brenda (Dean)
Baumbarger, Martin (Diane) Gillin, and Claude
(Barbara) Gillin; sisters Olive Mack, Audrey (Alec)
Rorabaugh and Issobelle Randolph; brothers Richard
(Willow Jean), Guy (Alma Jean) and Jack (Elsie)
Gillin; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
 
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, August
15, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,
Tecumseh with Rev David Morton officiating.  

Burial will follow in Ogden Zion Cemetery, Blissfield, MI.

Dorothy Damon Allen, age 84, of Tecumseh, passed away
August 18, 2007 of Parkinson's with Lewy Body Disease.
Dorothy was born March 23, 1923 in Sand Creek,
Michigan the daughter of Harley and Emma (Lemke) Cole.
 On November 18, 1942 she married William Damon, Jr. 
He preceded her in death on June 18, 1985.  She
married Charles Allen on November 15, 1986.  He
survives
 

Dorothy was a resident of the Tecumseh area her entire
life.  She belonged to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in
Tecumseh.  For many years she worked as the front
receptionist and telephone operator for Peerless Gear
in Clinton. 
 

Besides her husband Charles, she is survived by two
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren  she
shared with Bill Damon.  Her children are Patrice
Damon and William Damon and his wife Linda; three
grandchildren, Tamyra, Josh, and Kylar; and three
great grandchildren, Bradley, Sarah, and Kiera.  She
is also survived by two step daughters Carol and Bob
Smith and Sue and Tom Popma;
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and
Harley Cole;  siblings Marie, Sherman, and Alice; and
stepson Jack Allen.
 

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday, August

Robert R. Roe

 

Robert R. Roe, age 88, of Clinton passed away August
23, 2007.  Robert was born March 17, 1919 in Adrian,
Michigan the son of Ezra and Elizabeth (Levelett) Roe.
 

On September 15, 1940 he married Jennie Eunice King.
 She preceded him in death in 1994.   Robert was a
farmer and  excavating contractor.  He was a World War
II veteran serving in the United States Navy. 

Robert was a member of the #176 Clinton American Legion Post.
 Robert is survived by his children, Douglas Alan
(Connie) Roe of Clinton, Richard Raymond Roe of
Clinton, Janice Kay (Rick) Knight of Wauchula, FL and
Gerald Owen Roe of Milan; brother Furman Roe of
Adrian; fifteen grandchildren; and several great
grandchildren.

Besides his wife Eunice, he was preceded in death by
his parents; son Robert Ronald Roe;  daughter in law
Carrol Roe; three brothers and one sister.
 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, August
27, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian
with the Rev. Richard Bruce officiating.  Burial will
follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian with

Lawrence L. Kempf

Lawrence L. Kempf, age 78, of Onsted, passed away to
be with his Lord August 29, 2007 at Bixby Medical Center surrounded by his wife and children.  

Lawrence was born August 4, 1929 in Tecumseh, Michigan the son of Leonard and Marian (Hoag) Kempf.
 

On August 30, 1952 he married Frances Skinner in
Cadiz, Kentucky and today they would have celebrated
fifty five years of marriage. She survives.  

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army paratroopers. Family was
very important to Lawrence as well as hunting,
fishing, and camping which they all enjoyed together.
 

Lawrence attended Adrian Faith Baptist Church.
 

Besides his wife Frances, Lawrence is survived by his
children Beverly (Gary) Randolph, Larry (Linda) Kempf,
Ed Kempf, Evelyn (Matthew) Tredway, and Cindy Rock and
her fiancé Ken Wills; brother, Fred Kempf; sisters
Helen (Ted) Schmidt, Joann Gritzmaker, Ilene Schmidt,
Carolyn Frayer, and Margretta (Ernie) Hooper; sister
in law Vonnie Chase; nine grandchildren; three great
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, two  of
which were like his children, Bonnie and Roger
Hawkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother
Robert; and three sisters, Catherine, Joyce, and Margaret.
 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday,
September 1, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral
Home, Tecumseh with Pastor Greg Burdine officiating.

George E. Rodgers, age 64, of Clinton, MI, died
September 4, 2007
at Veterans Hospital, Ann Arbor. 

He was born September 3, 1943 in Endicott, New York.
He was the adopted son of George and Lillian (Rixom)
Rodgers.  On October 16, 1993 he married Georganna
Burns in Clinton, MI.  She survives.

He was  retired from Johnson Controls.

In addition to his wife Georganna Rodgers, he is
survived by four children, Laura (John) Parker of Ann
Arbor, Eddie (Angie) Rodgers of Britton, Nick Rodgers
of Lansing and Mary (Steve) Payne of Milan,  
10 grandchildren, Robyn, Chelsea, Nicholas, Chris,
Tasha, Trevor, Kayle, Rachel, Elaina, and Luke; two
great grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Kyle; and one
brother John Whittaker of Endicott, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister

Henry C. Friday, age 46, of Addison, passed away
September 5, 2007 of cancer, at home surrounded by his
family.

He was born December 8, 1960, in Tecumseh, MI, the son
of Donald and Evelyn (Zimmerman) Friday.  On July 25,
1981, he married Linda Loomis at St. Joseph Shrine,
Brooklyn.

Henry was employed with ADCO Products, Michigan
Center. 
He enjoyed old cars, including his pride and joy 1968
Buick Electra; and country music. 

In addition to his wife Linda, Henry is survived by a
son, James, daughter, Renee and her fiancé Mark Alicz;
mother, Evelyn Friday;
3 brothers, David, Donald (Sharon), and Gene Friday; 3
sisters,  Patsy (David) Hall, Kathleen Friday and Susan Hardt;
aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Donald.

A Mass Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM

Felix G. Madrid, age 58, of Adrian, died September 15,
2007 at home.  He was born May 16, 1949, in Post, TX,
the son of Luis and Lola (Gutierrez) Madrid, Sr.  
On October 23, 1971, he married Manula "Pat"  Flores. 
She survives.
In addition to his wife Pat, Felix is survived by two
daughters, Tina (Joshua) Morton of Adrian, and
Kristyanna "Tana" Madrid of Adrian, two grandchildren,
Caleb and Sydney Morton; two sisters, Stephanie
(Ruben) Flores, Sr. of Palmyra, Dee Dee V. Madrid of
Adrian; two brothers, Tino (Kimo) Madrid of Toledo,
and Luis (Gloria) Madrid, Jr. of Adrian, and many
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother,
Amador; two sisters, Sara Townsend and Anita Rios, two

Ray Miller Webb

DATELINE: MT. PLEASANT, TEXAS

Ray M. Webb, age 86, of Mt. Pleasant, TX, formerly of
Tecumseh,  died September 7, 2007.

He was born July 3, 1921 in Hillsdale County, MI, the
son of Marion and Mary (Smith) Webb.   On June 16,
1952 he married Edith M. Warren at The Church of the
Nazarene, Reading, MI.  She survives.

Ray was veteran of the United States Army and WWII,
serving from 1942 to 1945 in the Asian Pacific
Theater.

He was retired from the Tecumseh Products Company with
32 years of service.

Ray was a lifelong member of the Church of the
Nazarene.  

Ray loved the Lord, children, and the farm where he
liked to see everything grow. 

He was a foster parent to several foster kids.

 In addition to his wife, Edith; Ray is survived by 2
sons,  Harlan J., and Marlin R.  (Rhonda); grandson,
Derrick R. (Rowena) a great grandson, Noah R. Webb,
all of Adrian; his sister, Dorothy (Don) Ryan of
Arcadia, FL, 3 nieces, and 4 nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers;
Milton, Earl, Elza, Orville, and Omar; sisters, Ada
Stein,
Olive Marsh, and Lilly Buhr; and niece Doris Barr.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday,
September 11, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,

Omega Dowell, age 86, of Tecumseh, passed away
 September 19, 2007 at Blissfield Place. Omega was
 born December 27, 1920 in Harlan County, Kentucky,
 the daughter of Z. B. and Addie (Saylor) Muncy.
 December of 1939 she married Murl Dowell in Harlan County,
 Kentucky. He preceded her in death on January 8,
 2007.

For many years she was a volunteer for
 Muscular Dystrophy. She worked retail for many years prior
 to her retirement.
 

Omega is survived by children Paul (Pat) Dowell of
 Tecumseh and Wanda (Robert) Howard, Sr. of Livonia;
 numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren,
 nieces, and nephews.
 
 Besides her husband Murl, she was preceded in death
 by seven brothers and sisters.
 

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Saturday,

Robert James Raine, age 74, passed away September 22, 2007.
 

Robert was born November 23, 1932, in Arcadia,
California the son of William and Ruth Ann (Kaufmann)
Raine. On June 23, 1962 he married Patricia Elliott
in Lincoln Park, MI.

He was a Korean War veteran
serving in the U. S. army. Robert was fortunate to
have two successful careers - one being a journeyman
electrician for fifty five years with the IBEW Local
58 and the second being a respected dealer of Snap- On
Tools (the Snap-On Man) here in Lenawee County. He
was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, past
member of the Raisin Valley Model Railroad Club, and
a participant at Freedom Christian Fellowship
Ministry. He was also a member of the Lay-Z Sam's R V
club and enjoyed the last nine years being a winter
Texan.
 

In addition to his wife Patsy, he is survived by his
children, Lori Cole, Lynn (Ed) Pokryfky, Mark
(Kim)Raine, Vicki Nicholson, James Raine, Robert O.
(Cathy) Raine, Thomas Raine, also Robert C. (Jamie)
Raine; 25 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2
brothers; 2 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister in law, Carol
Raine; son in law Greg Cole; and a granddaughter Paige
Raine.

Jackson Lee Gibbs, 16 years of age, passed away into
the arms of Jesus on Wednesday evening, September 19,
2007. Jackson was embraced at Heaven's gate by his
Aunt Sue Ann Webb, Uncle Teri Gibbs, and cousins
Tanner Wade and Zachary Vasher.
 

Jackson was born in Tecumseh, Michigan, Friday, May
17, 1991 the son of Tracy Lee and Tracy (Vasher)
Gibbs. Jackson lived most of his life in Lenawee
County and attended grade school at Britton-Macon.
Surviving besides his mom and dad are his siblings -
brothers Gregory and his fiancé Becca and Cody and
sisters Kaitlyn and Jessica, his grandparents, Don and
JoAnn Vasher and Jack and Nancy Gibbs, great
grandmother, Julia Vasher, and several aunts, uncles
and cousins. Jackson belonged to a large and loving
family.
 

Jackson or "Geeter" to his family and friends was
quite the kid. Not only was he brave, but he was
smart and funny keeping everyone entertained, never
complaining about anything. The highlight of
Jackson's life was his trip to Hollywood, CA with his
family to meet and have dinner with his idol, Robert
Englund or "Freddie Kruger." This was all made
possible through the Kids Wish Foundation. Jackson
was a big fan of horror movies, liking all the scary
stuff.
 

He was preceded in death by his Aunt Sue Ann, Uncle
Teri and cousins Tanner and Zachary.

Myrtle Martha Follas. age 83, passed away September
15, 2007.
 

Myrtle was born January 1, 1924 in  Riga, Michigan to
Louis and Chloe (Becker) Miller.  On December 2, 1947
she married Otto (Jack) Follas in Covington, KY.  He
preceded her in death.    Myrtle worked at the Rainbow
and Big Boy Restaurants in Adrian and the Cherry Nook
in Palmyra.  She was a member of the VFW,  the
American Legion, the Maple City Swingers, and the
Bachelorettes.  She attended both the Blissfield and
Adrian Senior centers.  
 

Myrtle is survived by a daughter Bonnie (Jack)
Hartnell of Bethel Park, Pa;  two grandchildren; and
two great grandchildren. 
 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, October 1,

Helen was born April 2, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan.
Beloved wife of Arthur (deceased), loving and loved

Grandmother to Tony, Michael, Debbie, Brandie and Tom.
Great grandmother of 9 Originally from the
Metropolitan Detroit area, Helen was a resident at

caring staff made her final years pleasant and

Esther Marie Roe, 90, of Bickford Cottage of Midland
went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday,
September 28, 2007. In October 2006, she moved to
Midland from Adrian, Michigan, to be with her son,
James Roe. Esther was born May 18, 1917 in Dover
Township, Michigan, daughter of Earl P. and Lucy
(Townsend) Hutchison. She was the youngest of seven
children. Esther graduated from Clayton High School,
Lenawee County Normal, Adrian College with a bachelor
of arts degree and Siena Heights College with a master
of arts degree. She also completed 15 credits post M.
A. She taught all levels in the elementary school and
retired from Adrian Public Schools in 1979. She
thoroughly enjoyed teaching, learning and expanded her
knowledge in all areas. She married Furman Roe on
September 30, 1940 at the Moody Bible Church in
Chicago. He survives her. She was an active member
of the Clayton Bible Church where she taught Sunday
School and enjoyed many Bible Studies. While in
Midland she participated in Community Bible Study.
 
Esther is also survived by her loving children,
(Rebecca) Jean Brenner and husband Larry of Adrian,
James Roe and wife Barbara of Midland and Lee Roe and
wife Katie Of Ellenburg, Washington; beloved
grandchildren Mike Jon, David and Steve Brenner, Eric
Roe and Cindi (Roe) Hautekeete, and Rachel and Jessika
Roe; great grandchildren Angie, Jonathan, Derek,
Bailey, Katelyn, Kelcy, Alec, Adam, Rylei, Robert,
James and Ellie; and great great grandchildren Kaleigh
and Jeremy; cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition
to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers
and sisters, Ina Tiede, Devera Hutchison, John Milton
Hutchison, Myron Hutchison, Luena DeLine and Bernice
Kamke.
 
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday afternoon,
October 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clayton Bible
Church in Clayton, Michigan with Bickford Cottage
Chaplain Mitzi Nimmo officiating. A private family
graveside committal service will take place at the
North Dover Cemetery prior to the memorial service.

Shane M. Glisson, age 33, of Rock Springs, WY,
formerly of Adrian, MI, died Sept. 26, 2007 at home.
 
He was born August 14, 1974.
 
Shane is survived by his wife Tracey; daughter,
Emmalayne; step-son, Kristopher; parents, Jim and
Stephanie Glisson of Adrian, and Heidi and Chuck
McGown of Jackson; brother, Shawn (Erica) Glisson;
5 sisters, Rochelle (Dan) Forche, Kellie (Jay) Niese,
Jenna (Mauro) Campos, Lisa (Todd) Henshaw, and
Jennifer Risinger; and numerous nieces, nephews,
aunts, and uncles.
 
Visitation will be take place Friday, October 5, 2007
at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home. Adrian from 11:00
AM to 1:00 PM; followed by a funeral service at 1:00

Mary A. DeMoss, age 81, of Tecumseh, passed away
September 30, 2007, Mary was born January 18, 1926 in
Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Gloral
Nissen. On September 17, 1946, she married Warren W.
DeMoss in Davenport, Iowa. She lived in the Tecumseh
area since 1960 and retired from Ann Arbor Scientific
Company.
Mary is survived by one son, Leonard DeMoss of
Longmont, CO, son-in-law Brad Fletcher of Howell, five
grandchildren, Robert, Scott, Matt, Julie and Kelly
and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday,
October 3, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,
Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating.
Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation
will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Tuesday, October 2,
2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Blissfield, MI
 
Howard R. Miller, age 87, of Blissfield, passed away
October 1, 2007 at Lake Park, Sylvania.

Howard was
born June 20, 1920, in Deerfield the son of Lynn and
Myrtle Miller. On January 31, 1943, he married
Blanche Suydam in Wellsville. She preceded him in
death on March 5, 2007.
 

He was employed at the Tecumseh Products for thirty
eight years.
 

Howard is survived by his children David Miller of
Harrison, MI, Bill Miller of Blissfield, Greg
(Brenda) Miller of Blissfield, Steve ( Sallie) Miller
of Blissfield, Mary (Rick) McAllister of Adrian,
Kellie (Mark) Retter of Blissfield; daughters in laws
Diane Miller of Adrian and Roberta Stapleton of
Saline; numerous grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
Besides his wife Blanche, Howard was preceded in death
by his parents and brothers Harry and Harold.
 

According to his wishes cremation has taken place and
there will be no services.

Alan L. Buskirk

DATELINE: BROOKLYN
 
Alan L. Buskirk, Sr., age 74, formerly of Brooklyn,
died Oct. 1, 2007, at the Medical Care Facility of
Jackson. He was born in 1933 in Jackson, MI, to
Florence and LeRoy Buskirk. They both preceded him in
death.
 
He served in the Marines during the Korean War and
received three Purple Hearts.
 
In 1953, he married and had seven children. They
survive him.
 
4 Sons, Dennis of Texas; John and Alan of Colorado,
and Thomas (Dawn) of New Mexico.
 
3 Daughters, Karen (James) Pipher of Oklahoma, Julie
(Thomas) Stubbins of Pittsford, MI, and Maria (Lou)
Lofton of Jackson.
 
He has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by a grandaughter Sonya
Heather in 2002,
sister Brenda Pariseau; and a brother, William
Buskirk.
 
He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Jean
(Gordon) Ketrlar of Florida and Carol (Lou) Nutt of
Texas; a brother James (Debra) Buskirk of Warren, MI;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Private family services and viewing were held were
held Oct. 4, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,
Adrian. Cremation followed the funeral service.

Inocencia Banda, age 96, of Adrian, died October 2, 2007 at her daughter's home in Blissfield, MI.

She was born December 28, 1910 in Parras, Coahuilla, Mexico the daughter of Inez and Juanita (Ranjel) Jimenez.

Funeral sevices were held Wedneday October 3, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI, with Rev. Adrian Lioi officiating.  Interement followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian.

Visitation was held Tuesday October 2, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Tecumseh, MI
 
Arlene Papp, age 91, of Tecumseh, passed away October
4, 2007 at home. Arlene was born January 23, 1916, in
Milan Township the daughter of John and Marjorie
(Booth) Taylor. On September 1, 1936 she married
Michael Papp in South Bend, Ind. He preceded her in
death on August 19, 1996.

Arlene was a 1934 graduate
of Clinton High School. She lived at her present
address for over 55 years. She worked for Ford Motor
Company and retired from J. C. Penney's. One of her
favorite past times was sewing. The love of her life
was her family, especially her grandchildren and
great grandchildren. Her sense of humor will live on
in the memories of her family and friends. Arlene was
a member of the Macon United Methodist Church.
 

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Monagin
of Tecumseh and Janet (Larry) Miller of Saline; five
grandchildren, Lori (Mike) Benedict, Jennifer (Scott
Stull) Monagin, John Monagin, Darren (Tammy) Miller
and Dan (Kristen) Miller; six great grandchildren,
Taylor and Max Benedict, Alex and Kevin Miller, and
Maddie and Sam Miller.
 

Besides her husband, Michael, Arlene was preceded in
death by her parents and son in law, Dale Monagin.
 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, October
8, 2007 at the Macon United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Lance Ness officiating. Burial will follow in
Macon Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8
P. M. Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse
Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

made to Macon United Methodist Church or Great Lakes
