Peggy D. Parkhurst
Age 63, of Onsted, passed away, May 25,
2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September
29, 1941, in Adrian MI, the daughter of Samuel & Bonnie Snead. She was
preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Don, Boyd, Willard, and
Cecil, and two sisters, Irene and Bertha.
She is survived by husband Ronald, her children; Kevin Bryant and Lloyd
Bryant both of Onsted, Bonnie (Charles) Yeider of Jackson, her
grandchildren; Kevin,
Miranda, Breanna, Terry and Brittany, three great grandchildren, her
brothers; Dewayne Snead, Lloyd
Snead, Richard (Fay) Snead, and Doug (Vicki) Snead. Also surviving
Peggy are several close friends in the Upper Peninsula.
A Memorial Gathering will held 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 5, 2005 at the
Parkhurst Family's home on Brooks Hwy in Onsted. Following the Memorial

Walter Lane
Age 78, of Adrian, passed away May 23,
2005, at the home of his nephew and his wife, Lester and Beth Lane in
Onsted. He was born July 15, 1926 the son of Melvin & Bertha (Baughey)
Lane in Adrian, MI. On March 10, 1951, he married Wanda L.
Longstreet in Blissfield, MI. She preceded him in death on January 13,
2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Floyd,
Cliff, William, Leslie, Cloe, Claude and Ken.
Walter worked at many places including A & L Auto Parts and was a crossing
guard at Garfield Elementary School for nine years.
Walter is survived by many nieces and nephews and his favorite dog "Rags"
as well as many friends.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2005, at in the
Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Larry Betz officiating. Interment
will follow in Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00
PM on Friday, and on Saturday prior to the service in the Purse Funeral

William E. Sizemore
William “Billy” Elwood Sizemore, 39, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, formerly of
Tecumseh, went to be with the Lord, Monday, May 23, 2005, at Glendale
Memorial Hospital in Glendale, CA. He was born June 10, 1965 in Toledo,
OH, the son of Elwood & Sandra S. (Frazier) Sizemore. He attended Tecumseh
High School and then he traveled many places throughout the country. He
started his own business training guard dogs in California and then moved
to Ft. Lauderdale where he enjoyed landscaping.
Surviving Billy are, his mother; Sandra of Adrian, two sisters; Teresa
Brown of Denton, TX and Kathy (Bill) Garland of Adrian, grandmother;
Geneva Conley of Tecumseh, nieces; Jamie, Autumn and Alyssa, nephews;
Justin, Jordan, Tylor, Austin, Brenden, and his puppy dog Rusty.
He was preceded in death by his dad; Elwood Sizemore, his natural father;
Bill Reffitt, paternal grandparents; Floyd & Hessie Sizemore and Dee Dee
and Pearl Reffitt.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday June 5, 2005 at Purse
Funeral Home in Adrian. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until

Robert E. Moore Age, 88, of
Adrian, passed away June 2, 2005, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. He was
born June 2, 1917, in Wheatland Twp., MI, the son of Vern & Selina (Bump)
Moore. On July 22, 1967, he married
Geraldine Munsell, she survives.
In addition to his wife Geraldine, he is survived by three daughters; Ruth
O'Leary of Sand Creek, Violet (Larry) Waltz of North Adams, and Beverly
Boss of Fairfield, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a son, David, a
granddaughter, Brenda Jo Kuhn, and a great grandson, Cody.
At Robert's request, cremation will take place and no services will be

La Joyce Bilbo Harper Glascock
Departed this earthly world the first
of June, 2005. She was born 21 December 1927 to James Oliver and Hazel
Ruth Breland Bilbo in Rock Hill, Forrest County, Mississippi and spent her
youth in the piney woods and on the Gulf Coast. She came to Tecumseh in
1948 to marry Harold
Milburn Harper of Tecumseh with whom she had two children, Sherry (Rich)
Harper Hamblen of Nashville, TN and Gary (Marilyn) Harper of Adrian.
La Joyce lived in Herrick Park since 1950 and was always happy taking care
of her home and garden, delighting in many creative endeavors. She loved
birds, butterflies and flowers. In 1963 she married Bob Glascock who
preceded her in death. La Joyce was a Tecumseh Schools Bus Driver for many
years and fondly remembered the many children who rode her bus.
Survivors include her children, Sherry and Gary, their spouses, three
grandsons, Matt Harper of Tecumseh, Toby Harper of Ohio State University
and Alex Hamblen of the University of Pennsylvania, three sisters, La Ruth
(Billy Joe) Davis and Barbara (Tom) Rossetto, both of Mississippi and
Patricia (Tom) Hamp of Houghton Lake, Michigan, as well as two brothers,
Clifton (Martha) Hagerty and Harve Hagerty, both of Texas, several nieces,
nephews, stepchildren and step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh on Friday, June 3,
from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, June 4, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Graveside services will be held in Brookside Cemetery on Saturday, June 4,
2005 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Orin Daniels officiating. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Catherine Cobb Domestic Violence Shelter

Wavie Reeves
Age 77, of Adrian, passed away, June 2,
2005, at St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo, OH, following an auto accident. He
was born on May 12, 1928, in Autauga County, AL, the son of Ersie & Alex
Reeves. He married Virginia Collum on November 4, 1947, in
Prattville, AL, she survives. He was in the U.S. Army in 1948. Wavie and
Virginia had two children; Gloria and C. David Reeves both of Adrian. He
is also survived by a daughter Diane Misch of Phoenix, AZ, and one brother
Emsley Reeves of Prattville, AL, grandchildren; Ted Crockett, Tammy
(Jamie) Sparrow, Jena and Lucas Reeves all of Adrian, Patricia and Billy
Kelly both of Arizona, great grandchildren; Noah and Joshua Sparrow both
of Adrian.
Wavie moved to Adrian in 1953 and he was employed at Tecumseh Products
from then until 1993 when he retired. He was an avid coon hunter and
hunted bear and pheasant. He also enjoyed fishing. He entertained his
family playing fiddle in his younger days. He was very active in his
grandchildren’s lives
and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2005, in the
Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to
4:00 PM & 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

William Ray Starling
Age 58, of Tipton, died June 12, 2005.
He was born September 6, 1946 in Monroe, MI, the son of Robert and Helen
(Adams) Starling. He married Susan M. Van Doren on November 28, 1980.
She survives.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Viet Nam era. He
was retired from Ford Motor Company, Milan. He was the owner of Starling's
Nest Restaurant and Driving Range. He was a longstanding member of Sand
Lake Volunteer Fire Department and served as Deputy Chief. He was
also a part time resident of Aruba.
In addition to his wife, Susan, Bill is
survived three daughters, Julie Daly, Kelly (Kevin) Marion, Melanie
(Moses) Hensley; son, J.K. (Natasha) Vaillancourt,; three
grandchildren, Kiara, Blake, and Makenzie; and loyal companion Maddie;
mother Helen; two sisters, Sharon Heft, Nancy (Wayne) Ross; and two
brothers; Robert (Katrene), Jack (Debbie).
He was preceded in death by his father.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15,
2005 at Starling's Nest Driving Range, Irish Hills with Fr. Russ Kohler
officiaitng. Casual attire, please.

Mary A. Hanna
Age, 86 of Tecumseh, died June 16,
2005, at Herrick Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born
September 21, 1918 in Fostoria, OH, the son of E.T. and Cora (Ruth) Drake.
She married Jack I. Hanna on August 23, 1942 in Tecumseh. He preceded her
in death on January 15, 1990.
She is survived by her son Joe I. Hanna of Tecumseh; daughter, Melissa
(Bill) Berry of Tipton; seven grandchildren; 4 3/4 great grandchildren;
and brother; Dwight (Lucille) Drake of New York.
In addition to her husband Jack; she was preceded in death by two
brothers, Harold and Austin; and two sisters, Ruby and Aula.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2005 at
Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. with Gail Blum officiating. Interment will
follow in Brookside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday and from 12 noon until time of
services Saturday at Purse Funeral

Louis P. Grevois
Age 79, of Hudson, passed away June 26, 2005, at Bixby
Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born December 2, 1925,
in Waterville, ME, the son of Paul & Domitilde (Denis) Grevois. On
September 23, 1998, he married Rosella Foote-Hall, she survives. Louis was
a supervisor for demolition and construction for MK Construction Company.
He had many great times with family, friends, and his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; Hazel, a daughter; Leona and a
son, Paul. In addition to his wife Rosella, he is survived by his
sons; Roger (Leatrice) and John both of Waterville, ME, Leon and James of
Ocala, FL, his stepchildren;
Judy (Sonny), Nancy (Gary), James (Diana), Teresa (Mike), Janet (Bud),
Stephen (Marty) and Brenda
(John), twenty-eight grandchildren and forty-seven great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday June, 29, 2005, at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church, Hudson, with Rev. Fr. Richard Eberle as Presider.
After the funeral mass, a time for viewing and visitation will be held
Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Purse Funeral Home,
Adrian. Cremation will take place following the viewing. In Lieu of

Cyna
M. Dotson
Age 83, of Tecumseh, passed on to a better life on June
17, 2005. She was born February 1, 1922 in Magoffin County, KY, the
daughter of Sherman and Mollie (Hackworth) Stanley. She married Alfred
Dotson on February 2, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1972.
She is survived by three daughters, Dotty (Roger) Palmer of Ridgeway,
Hilda Winzeler of Tecumseh, and Rose Dotson and her husband Jemal Touba of
Morrison, CO; three sons, Delmas (Linda) Dotson, Randall (Twila) Dotson,
and Russell Dotson all of Tecumseh; and several grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Alfred, she was preceded in death by her sister
Ocie; and brother Tollie.
Cyna was an Avon sales representative in the Tecumseh area for over 40
years. During her years with Avon she attained President's Club status
nearly every year. She was retired from Herrick Memorial Hospital with 25
years of service. She attended Freedom Christian Fellowship in Adrian.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at Purse
Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Jerry Lacey officiating. Interment will
follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services
Monday at Purse Funeral Home,
Tecumseh.

John L. Taylor
Age 71, of Adrian, died peacefully,
June 16, 2005, at Herrick Memorial Hospital. He was born December 4, 1933,
in Rollin Twp., MI, the son of Sylvens & Doris (Grant) Taylor. John served
his country for fourteen years in the U.S. Navy. He worked various jobs in
his life being a truck driver, fertilizer salesman and a woodworker at
Goodwill as well as being a Mentor. John was an avid model airplane
builder and was very mechanically inclined.
He is survived by his loving companion Janet Huff, his children; Linda
(Gene) Doseck of Celina, OH, Douglas Taylor of Albony, KY, Carol (Brad)
Doyle of Bowling Green, OH, Kathy (Robert) Ford of Morenci. Natalie
(Andrew) Kalnbach of Florida, Kristin (Donald) Schmitz of Morenci and
Jessica (Richard) Somerlott of Saginaw, 18 grandchildren,16 great
grandchildren, two sisters; Geraldine Willet of Morenci and Helen
(Richard) Rosebrook of Stryker, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held at11:00 AM Monday, June 20, 2005, at the
Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Daryl Etheridge officiating.

Harry Bunce
Age 54 of Tecumseh died June 28, 2005.
Harry was born September 15, 1950 in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Marvin
and Barbara (Palmer) Bunce. On May 12, 1973, he married Callie J. Navarre
in Dundee, MI. She survives.
He was a graduate of Dundee High School, Class of 1970. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He worked for
Ford Motor Company for 33 years, specializing in skilled trades. He was a
member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife
Callie, he is survived by two sons; Russell Bunce of Yorba Linda, CA, and
Douglas Bunce of Ann Arbor; one daughter, Melanie Bunce of Tecumseh;
mother Barbara Bunce of Dundee; three
brothers, Marvin (Cecila) Bunce of Florida, Kerrell (Debbie) Bunce of
Dundee, and Sterling Bunce of Saline; and sister Lannis (Robin) Sturgil of
Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father Marvin and brother John.
Funeral services for Harry will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, July 1, 2005
at the Purse Funeral Home Adrian, with Vicar Ernest Hoffman
officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh with
military honors conducted by the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and
Tecumseh VFW Post #4187. Visitation will be 11-3 and 5-8 P. M.
Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Purse Funeral
Home, Adrian. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Lenawee.

Kyle Rae Smith
Age
24, of Detroit, formerly of Tecumseh,died February 4, 2006. She was born
born November 23, 1981, the daughter of William & Vicky (VanDyke) Smith,in
Adrian, MI. Kyle graduated from Tecumseh High School in the Class of 2000.
She was currently employed by Rodriguez Expedite in Taylor, MI. She was an
avid softball player and Detroit Pistons fan.
She is survived by her parents; Vicky (Tim) Cupp of Tecumseh and William
(Sharon) Smith of Adrian, her sisters; Carrie Smith-Jimenez of Adrian and
Kellie Smith of Tecumseh, Kim (Don) Deck of Adrian and Jackie (Scott)
Willnow, her brother; Terry Milliman of Adrian, one niece; Kelsey Bond,
three nephews; Phillip Jimenez, Tyler Hinton, and Landon Bond, her
grandparents; Virgil & Marian VanDyke of Adrian and Hazel Cupp of Adrian,
and one very special adopted grandmother; Lucille Olsen of Adrian and her
aunts and uncles; Kay (Gordon) Smith, Sandra (Don) Ringman, Dawn (John)
Johnston, Mark (Cheryl) VanDyke, and Sherri (Bill) Durham, and several
cousins. She is also survived by her special friends; Jeff Peterson, Tim
Clymer, Justin Clement, Amanda Fore, and Amanda Amaya.
She was preceded in death by grandparents; William Smith, Sr, and Peg
Smith.

Kenneth Gilbert
Herrick
Age 83, of Tecumseh, died July 25, 2004 at Herrick Manor.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Todd Herrick, son Todd W. Herrick
(Linda Refner), and one daughter, Toni Herrick.
He is also survived by three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. A private memorial service was held at
Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, MI. The family requests no flowers, please.

Jeff "Gibby" Gibbs
Age 35, Adrian, was born August 30, 1970, was recently diagnosed with
Leukemia and unexpectedly passed on April 13, 2006 at University of
Michigan hospital. Jeff had been quoted saying "This is the first
time in
my life I have had to fight something that isn't standing in front of me."
Though his battle was brief, it was fought with all that he had, just as
he lived his life. Jeff may be gone but will never be forgotten by those
fortunate enough to have had their lives touched by him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Tammy (Creger) Gibbs;
daughter, Danielle Wilkerson and son, Paul Andrew Shepherd Jr. of Adrian;
parents, Charles (Chuck) and Pat Gibbs of Brooklyn, Doris (Dorie) and
Steven Bishop of Tecumseh; siblings, Jeff (Sharon) Updike of Brooklyn,
Scott (Sharon) Gibbs of Onsted, Kristy (Matthew) Holmes of Minneapolis,
MN, Mark Bishop of Tecumseh; sister in-laws, Kim Shepherd of Adrian,
Jackie Patrick of Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Brandie, Dustin, Jeffrey,
Kyle, Michael, Hunter, Grace, Logan; special friends, Jim "Bam" Randall,
Ron "Bug" Roberts; also survived by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles,

Anna M. Clark
Age 88, of Adrian, went to be with her Lord and Savior
on April 17, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia. She was born January
1, 1918, the daughter of Rufino & Josefa (Miranda) Rivera in Gaunica,
Puerto Rico. She came to the Boston, Massachusetts area in her late teens
and was a graduate of Lexington High School. She met her husband Harold,
who was stationed there in the Navy. They were married 46 years
before he preceded her in death in November of 1991. Anna's first
love was her Savior and she was a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid
gardener and was known for her beautiful flowers.
She is survived by her children; Diana (Martin) Messner of Livonia, MI,
Nancy (Gordon) Moret of Adrian, MI, Helen Clark of Alma, MI, Carolyn
(James) Moize of Napa, CA, and David (Rebbel) Clark of Adrian, 15
grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Harold Clark, a
daughter Dorothy Swiger, a brother, and a grandson, Chris Moize.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, at Berean Baptist Church,
Adrian, with Pastor Kelvin Cook

Age 71, of Reading, passed away, May
14, 2006. He was born September 3, 1934, the son of Rollie & Bertha
(Howard) Litteral in Kentucky. Alvia was retired from General Motors /
Delphi in Adrian.
He is survived by one sister; Evelyn Pounders, one brother; John Litteral,
his children; Kathleen Walker, Roe (Jackie) Litteral, Sherry (Jerry)
Sartwell, Debra (Kenneth) Wagner, Bruce (Donna) Litteral, and Colby
Litteral, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, in the Purse Funeral
Home, Adrian, with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Interment will follow in

Catherine M. Churchill,
age 82, of Tecumseh, formerly of Flat Rock, died July 7, 2004.
She was born September 1, 1921, in Essex, Ontario, the daughter of Henry
and Mary (Mooney) O'Connor.
She retired from Security Bank, Southgate, MI in 1985. Upon retirement,
she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross at Seaway Hospital,
Trenton, MI until 1994, when she moved to Tecumseh. During her years in
Tecumseh, she was a volunteer at Herrick Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith Pfaff of Tecumseh, and Catherine
Stone of Tecumseh; son in law William Stone of Tecumseh; two sons Michael
Churchill of Gibraltar and Charles of South Rockwood; eight grandchildren,
five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
At Catherine's request, cremation has taken place. No local memorial
services will be held. Interment of cremains will take place in Canada.

N. Gauna, Jr. Age 70, of
Adrian, went to be with The Lord on March 29, 2006, surrounded by his
loving family. He was born April 2, 1935, the son of Jose Sr & Alejandra (Naranjo)
Gauna. Jose was retired from the Tecumseh Products Company. He is
survived by his former wife; Francisca Gauna, his children; Vito (Sylvia)
Gauna, Ralph (Diane) Gauna, Domingo (Amelia) Gauna, Chrisanda Gauna,
Yolanda Gauna, and Rebecca Gauna all of Adrian, 20 grandchildren, 19 great
grandchildren, his siblings; Janie Ybarra of Adrian, Eva Cardenas of
Chicago, IL, Raymond (Aurora) Gauna of Chicago, IL, Richard (Patty) Gauna
of Adrian, Olga Ledesma of Adrian, Albert (Lily) Gauna of Detroit, Mary (Sixto)
Cruz of Detroit, Vivian Riojas of Toledo, OH, and Jesse Riojas of Chicago,
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Roberto Gauna, his
brother, Frank Gauna.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 1,
2006, at St. Mary of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Adrian with Rev. Fr.
Robert Schramm as Presider. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic

age 86, of Napoleon, died, July 9, 2004, at Jackson Medical Care Facility
She was born October 8, 1917, in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Henry B. and
Bessie C. (Walters) Reynolds On April 20, 1939, she married Jack W.
Jentzen in Toledo, OH. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1994.
She was a member of the Napoleon United Methodist Church. A 25 year member
Junior Docas Society.
Ellen was a loving wife, mother, and great grandmother.
Ellen is survived two daughters, Pat (Dale) Heselschwerdt of Napoleon,
Sally (Charlie) Lauer of Tecumseh; one son, Terry (Marsha) Jentzen of
Jackson, seven grandchildren, Dee (Mike) Ferens of Jackson, Randy (Julie)
Heselschwerdt of Jackson, Rickey (Jodi) Heselschwerdt of Jackson, Robin
(Rich) Wegener of Humphry, NE, Tammy (Rich) Bonner of Utica, Kim (Mark)
Williams of Jackson, and Debbie (Chad) Chamberlain of Jackson; and 14
great grandchildren.

age 74, of Raisin Township, MI, passed away, July 12, 2004, at Herrick
Manor. He was born September 20, 1929, in Adrian, MI, the son of Alvin &
Lenora (Lofberg) Westgate. On November 6,
1947, he married Doris "Dody" Perry, she survives.
John retired from Bohn Aluminum in 1991.
He is survived by his wife Doris "Dody", his children, Kathy (Rick)

Westgate of Onsted, nine grandchildren, and eightgreat grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Dirk Doorn
Age 59, passed away July 11, 2004, at his home in Ann Arbor,
Michigan. At his side were his beloved wife, Jane Armstrong, their son
Hendrik Doorn and daughter Sarah Doorn. His brother, Gerrit Doorn, and
sister, Diny Doorn, were also able to be with him in his final days.
Dirk was born January 30, 1945, in Zwolle, The Netherlands, son of
Hendrikus Doorn and Grietjen Doorn Agterhuis. He came to the United States
in December 1963, accompanying Lawrence and Gladys Cherrington, who were
returning home to Michigan after supervising the construction of a factory
for the manufacture of baby formula in Dirk’s home town of Zwolle. Since
that time, Dirk and his wife and children have enjoyed the love and
support of the extended Cherrington family.
Dirk served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his return
to civilian life, he earned an Associates degree from Glen Oaks Community
College in Sturgis, Michigan, and then transferred to the University of
Michigan. He began what became a life-long career of auto service while
attending the University. After working as a mechanic for a number of
years, he started an import auto parts business, though he continued to
provide advice and assistance to the owners of many old VW beetles and
buses and dune buggies.
Dirk was also active in local Boy Scout Troop 111. He was himself a scout
in the Netherlands, earning the Queen’s Scout rank, the equivalent of the
American Eagle Scout.
Dirk worked hard to make a good life for his family. He also loved to
fish, eat Korean food, and listen to the Blues and Zaydeco music.
He will be sorely missed.
Graveside Services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at
Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor. Military Honors will be performed by
the Washtenaw County Veterans Funeral Team. Donations may be made in his

Howard McEldowney, Jr.
Passed away at home on July 23, 2004 at the age of 49,
under the loving care of his wife, son, family and Great Lakes Hospice. He
was born on Dec. 08, 1954 to Howard Sr. and Evelyn McEldowney.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Colleen, a treasured
son, Scott, and three adorable grandchildren; Shelby, Bianca, and
Dominick. He is also survived by his mother Evelyn, six sisters; Dorothy
Moore, Mary (Jim) Hixon, Carol McEldowney, Lois (Rick) Surber, Joann
(Brad) Flack, Janet Richards and one brother Gerald. He had several nieces
and nephews, and a special nephew Roger (Beth) Moore; also nephews Rick &
Jason Surber, Dale McEldowney, Richard Moore, Chad Richards, and a special
niece Sue Hixon. He leaves two very special great nieces, Deanna and
Alyssa Moore, several great nieces and nephews, as well as two childhood
friends Gene Moore, Bill Koch, and friend Betty Bryan. Howard loved
hunting and fishing with his son and nephews. He cherished anything to do
with family, friends and the outdoors. He was a very special man and will
be missed and loved by everybody who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. To celebrate his life, a memorial service will
be held at Vista Grande Villa at 2251 Springport Rd. on August 7th at
1:00pm with Chaplin Craig Britton officiating.

Age 60, of Tecumseh, died March 31, 2004, at Flower
Hospital, Sylvania, OH. She was born July 19, 1943, in Jackson, MI, the
daughter of Thomas and Thelma (Snyder) Conklin. On October 23, 1965, she
married Louis Masters in Jackson, MI. He survives.
In addition to her husband Lou, she is survived by, one son Christopher of
Tecumseh; one daughter Sarah of Charlotte, NC; and two sisters, Patricia
(Ted) Renfer of and Nancy (John) Timberlake, both of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at St.
Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union Street, Tecumseh, with the Rev.
Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside

Ann Marie Santana,
age 41, formerly of Blissfield, died suddenly at her
home on June 30th, 2004. She was born June 3, 1963 in Toledo, OH, the
daughter of William J. Braun, of Madisonville, TN and Alice Gorney, of
Adrian.
Ann was formerly employed by Amco Convertible Fabrics Inc., The Hill
Tavern, and Cargotainer. She was also a volunteer at Catherine Cobb
Domestic Violence Shelter.
Ann enjoyed spending time painting ceramics, sewing, quilting, and
attending bingo; but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with
her children and grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her five children, Duston Santana of Hudson, Joshua
Santana of Adrian, Cynthia Ruiz of Adrian, Heather Carroll of Adrian, and
Danielle Carroll of Adrian; three grandchildren, Trinity Santana of
Adrian, Tyler Irwin of Adrian, and Damien Rosas of Adrian; one brother,
Wayne (Tina) Braun of Toledo, OH, two sisters, Tammie Barber of Adrian,
and Shellie (Chris) Patty of Maryville, TN; one grandfather, Eustace
Fields of Adrian, several aunts and uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Ann was preceded in death by one brother, Larry (Shana) Braun of Adrian;
and her grandparents, Lawrence and Marie Braun of Blissfield, Oliver
Sharrai of California, and Martha Fields of Adrian.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. At Ann's request cremation
and a private family service took place on July 1, 2004 at Purse Funeral
Home in Adrian.

Robert Exelby McCrate
age 91, of Tecumseh, died June 21, 2004 at Herrick
Memorial Hospital. He was born August 16, 1912, the son of Edward and
Alice (Exelby) McCrate in Columbus Grove, OH. On June 7, 1939 he married
Mary Kathryn Doepker in Columbus Grove, OH. She preceded him in death on
August 10, 1991. He then married Mildred Saksewski on Sept. 12, 1992. She
survives.
Bob was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh. Previously,
Robert owned a Ford Tractor and Dearborn Farm Implement Dealership in
Columbus Grove, OH. In 1953 he moved his family to a Farm South of
Britton, raising crops, livestock and his family. In 1966, the family
moved to Tecumseh where Bob, a 38 year resident of Seminole Dr., retired
from St. Elizabeth's Parish working as Maintenance person and
Groundskeeper.
In addition to his wife Mildred, he is survived by three daughters, Sharon
(Steve) Neal, Karen (Jerry)
Watson, and Pat (Ken) Brown; eight sons, Jerry (Sue), Dick, Don (Gail),
Fred (Sandy), Steve (Kathy)
David (Linda) McCrate, Joe (Judy) Saksewski, and David (Margie) Saksewski;
daughter in law, Chris
Saksewski, numerous grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 2 sisters,
Cecilia and Jeanne, and 3
brothers, John, Carl and Lane.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Edward Leon, 2 daughters
in law, Diane and Carolyn, son John Saksewski, and one sister, Alice.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday at
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church,
Tecumseh with Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in

Age 72, of Adrian, passed away August 1, 2004 at
Herrick Memorial Hospital. She was born October 21, 1931, the daughter of
John & Edith (Schrock) Hendershott. In 1968, she married Edward J. Beach,
Sr., he survives.
In addition to her husband Edward, she is survived by her children; Korlis
"Cookie" (Jimmie) Garland of Adrian, Agnes Arlene Long of Findlay, OH,

Charles R. Van Aken,
of Dexter, MI died August 7, 2004 at Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor.
He was 81 years old. He was born in Dexter, MI, on the 31st of May, 1923,
to Addison D. Van Aken and Maude (Garn) Van Aken. He was among the last of
the native sons of Dexter having been born there in the Village of Dexter
and residing there until his death.
He married Rosemary Mathews on July 2, 1949. She preceded him in death on
March 4, 2003. He was educated at the Dexter High School, and was an
alumnus of The University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, the War
College, the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, and the Horace H.
Rackham School of Graduate Studies.
He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 as an Aviation Cadet and
received his Commission as a Second Lieutenant (Navigator) on April 22,
1943. He saw duty overseas with the 489th Bomb Group in the 8th Air Force.
In private life he became a pharmacist, served a Residency with the
Hospital Pharmacy in the University of Michigan Hospital, and retired from
the State Mental Health system in 1988 where he worked as Director of
Pharmacy at the Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital. He was active in
the education of other pharmacists and found great satisfaction as a
preceptor in training his pharmacy interns. He also found a niche in the
education system in the hospital as a lecturer on geriatric medicine,
which he continued throughout Southeastern Michigan in hospitals and
nursing homes after he retired from the state Mental Health System. He
spent many hours since he retired in volunteer work in the community, some
at his parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter, and most recently
with the Dexter Senior Citizens Center interviewing Seniors and taking
their oral histories.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Rosemary, one brother
Douglas A. and a sister, Fern M..
He is survived by a son Thomas (Diane) of West Palm Beach, Florida; a
daughter Catherine (Mark) McCoy of Ellicott, Maryland; one brother Richard
(Vella Dean) of Monroe, MI; a wonderful sister in law Vivian French
(Richard); one granddaughter Jessica Van Aken; devoted friends Steve &
Linda Hunt, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces,
The body has been cremated at his request. The family will receive friends
at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter from 6 - 8 PM Thursday, September
16, 2004, with a Scripture Service at 7:30 PM. Mass of the Christian
Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2004, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Dexter with Fr. Brendan Walsh as Presider. Friends may
call at the church from 10:00AM until the time of Mass. Rite of Committal
will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Dexter, with Military Honors
performed by the Washtenaw County Honor Guard.

Otis Edward White "Jack" ,
age 79, of Onsted, formerly of Pulaski, VA,
died June 22, 2004 at home. He was born April 6, 1925 in Pulaski,
Virginia, the son of Lawrence & Gracey (Hughett) White.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from June 6, 1943 to July 6,
1946 during WWII. He also served from July 26, 1949 to December 19,
1952 in the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Tecumseh Products Company
for 34 years retiring in 1987.
He married Ruby Irene Duncan on July 21, 1953 in York, South Carolina.
She survives.
In addition to his wife Ruby he is survived by a son, Roger Wayne White
of Britton MI; 3 daughters, Linda Kay Goll of Adrian, MI Brenda Gay
Evers of Cement City, MI and Cynthia Fay Shippy of Henderson, CO;

James Joseph Henry,
departed from this life on Thursday June 24, 2004 at
the age of 82 years old at Plaza Care Center. He was born to the late
Ellsworth and Celia (Mitchell) Henry on November 27, 1921 in Atlanta, GA.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Floretta Diane Burley of
Ypsilanti, MI; two sons, James E. Henry of Toledo, OH and Terrance Henry
of Flint, MI; three sisters, Florretta (Peter) Watson of Pensacola, FL,
Myrtle Nealy (Jesse) Johnson of Tucson, AZ, and Mary (Frank) Cherry of
Toledo, OH, and a special niece, Miranda "Randi".
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Charles Henry.
James worked many jobs, but was a security guard for many years. He
attended school in Ypsilanti, MI, where he lived for twenty five years.
James will be missed by many grandchildren, many many nieces and nephews,
and a host of relatives and friends.
There will be private services with Elder Donald Brooks officiating.

age 78, of Tecumseh, formerly of Dundee, died June 27,
2004. She was born November 26, 1925 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of
Clifton Leo and Marie Elizabeth (Hagan) Jarboe. On April 22, 1947 she
married Ralph Charles Knowles in Adrian, MI. He preceded her in death
on November 19, 1977.
Margaret was a homemaker, busdriver, and cargiver. Most recently, she
was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh.
Margaret is survived by five children, James (Nancy) Knowles, of
Mission Viejo, CA, Alice (Mark) Porta of Monroe, MI, Martha (Joseph) Horak
of Deerfield, Susan Knowles of Southgate, and Richard (Debra) Knowles of
Temperance, eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; six
sisters, Geraldine Brion of Tecumseh, Maggie (Jim) Morgan of Florida, Anna
Mae (Bill) Garrison of California, Pat (Dale) Caldwell of Virginia,
Lucille (Leo) Bednark of Adrian, and Barbara (Nelson) Bills of New York;
and one brother, Martin (Anita) Jarboe of Adrian.
In addition to her husband Ralph Charles she was preceded in death by
her parents, one brother Joseph, and a granddaughter Pamela.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.
Thursday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St. Tecumseh, MI,
49286, with Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in
Maple Grove Cemetery, Dundee. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday
in the Purse Funeral Home. Tecumseh. An additional visitation at St.
Elizabeth Catholic Church will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of
funeral mass on Thursday. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday

Geraldine Marie Keran,
age 77, of Britton, died June 29, 2004 in Bixby
Medical Center. She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Macon
Township MI, the daughter of Harold S. and Leah
A.(Palmer) Craig. Geraldine married John L. Keran on
December 11, 1943. He preceded her in death June 26,
1999.
Geraldine was a member of the Britton Congregational
Christian Church, and the Womens Fellowship, serving
as president for 3 years and secretary for 10 years.
She was a member of the Britton Women's Club, serving
as president for 3 years and treasurer for one year.
In addition to being trustee on the Ridgeway Cemetery
Board since 1968, she has also held the office of
treasurer since 1972. She was active in Campfire for
many years. Geraldine was also a member of the Britton
American Legion Women's Auxillary
Geraldine is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (Paul)
Cook of Britton; 3 granddaughters, Dawn Cook and Donna
Cook of Britton, Danita (Patrick) Scheick of Clayton,
one grandson Gordon Cook of Britton; one great
grandson Devin Scheick of Clayton, six sisters, Janice
Porterfield of Belleville, Isabelle Craig of
Blissfield, Virginia (Milton) Wells of Houston, TX,
Dorothy Bunek of Canton, Catherine (Robert) Jones of
Deerfield and Phyllis Perry of Britton, one brother,
Oliver Craig of Britton; and many nieces and nephews,
two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Stone of Ann Arbor and L.
Jane Spence of Brooklyn.
In addition to her husband John, she was preceded in
death by her parents, one son Todd Russell in infancy,
and 3 brothers, Dale and Charles Craig, and one in
infancy.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July
2, 2004 in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with the
Rev. David Welcome officiating. Interment will follow
in Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 &
6-9 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until time of
funeral services Friday in the Purse Funeral Home,
Tecumseh.

Britton Congregational Christian Church or the
Ridgeway Cemetery Memorial Fund.

Mary Ann McConnell,
age 80, of Tecumseh, died July 2, 2004. She was born in Brooklyn, MI,
September 24, 1920. She was preceded in death by husbands Albert Hoch in
1957, and Harley McConnell 1968.
Mary Ann was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Dianne (David) Schaffer of Washington State,
Susan LaGoe or Adrian, Mary Lou (Jerry) Munger of Tipton, and Jane (Scott)
Martin residing overseas, numerous grandchildren, several great
grandchildren, and her sister, Irene Burleson of Tecumseh.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the
Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Interment will follow in Jackson, Michigan.
Friends may call at the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, one hour prior to
funeral services Wednesday.

BETH BROWN
Age 78, of Tecumseh, died August 12, 2004, at
Herrick Memorial Hospital. She was born September 19, 1925 in Elysian,
Minnesota, the daughter of Andrew M. and Pearl E. (Kudlick) Gish. On
October 30, 1948, she married Marcus L. Brown in Inkster, MI. He preceded
her in death on November 6, 1987.
Beth was retired from TLC Credit Union with 32 years of service. She
regularly attended the Tecumseh United Methodist Church. She was a
dedicated volunteer with Friends Who Care as well as Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her son Kevin (Jaina) Brown of Adrian, and two
grandchildren, Kristina Brown and Jennifer Brown. In addition to her
husband Marcus, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ross and
Ralph Gish.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Sunday, August 15, 2004 at the
Tecumseh United Methodist Church with the Rev. David McKinstry
officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday (today) and 1-3 &
6-8 p.m. Saturday in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
An additional visitation and funeral service will be held Tuesday, August
17, 2004 at Anderson Funeral Home, Minneapolis, MN. Interment will follow
in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Memorial
Contributions may be made tothe American Cancer Society or Hospice of
Lenawee.

DORIS L. SEIBERT
Age 90, of Tecumseh, died August 13, 2004, unexpectedly at home. She was
born July 15, 1914, in Baltimore, MD.
Doris is survived by two daughters Gloria Carlson of Tecumseh, and Joyce
(Paul) Kahle of Baltimore, MD, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren,
and two step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward, daughter Janice, and a sister
Sylvia.
At Doris' request, cremation has taken place. Graveside services and
interment of cremains will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, at
a later date.
