George C. Comfort, age 78, passed away, October 11, 2009, at Tendercare of Adrian under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born March 2, 1931, in Raisin Twp., MI, the son of Leroy & Winifred (Crawford) Comfort.

He is survived by his sister, Lucy (Gilbert) Ives and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Charles Comfort.

George was a 1948 graduate of Adrian High School. He served his Country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a draftsman, but his real interest was horses and worked at several ranches in California, later working at Lawrence Welk mobile Home Park in Escondido, CA as a groundskeeper. George lived most of his adult life in the Southwest, moving back to Adrian in May of 2007.

Gravesides services will be held 4:00 PM, Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Raisin Valley Cemetery with Mark Bush officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors performed by Wright-Patterson AFB Honor Guard, Dayton, OH. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
