James Norman Gillies

“Norm”

 Lansing, MI

 Born May 21, 1931, in East Grand Rapids. Died on November 16, 2008, at the age of 77 years.

 James Norman Gillies was honorably discharged from the Michigan  Army National Guard as SFC, 46^th Infantry Division, after serving 9 years (1948-1957). In 1953 he earned a B.A. in Art from Michigan State College. He retired as a Systems Analyst in 1987 from the Michigan Treasury after 33 years of service.

 Preceding in death were Norm’s parents James Stanley Gillies and Ethel (Schaeffer) Gillies; and former wife, Yvonne (Santoro) Reyes (m. 1960-1970). His beloved children are Marie (Gillies) Dotson of Lansing, Andrea (Gillies) of Fremont, and James Vincent-Santoro (Cynthia) Gillies of Lansing; grandchildren, Cherin Gillies, Alisha Manthei, and Vincent Manthei, and numerous cousins.

 There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Deepdale Memorial Chapel exact date and time to be announced. Internment will be at Deepdale Memorial Gardens.
