Raymond W. Carl
December 5, 1923 ~ February 11, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years OldRaymond W. Carl, 92, of Onsted passed away February 10, 2016 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility, where he had been a resident for 14 months. He was born on December 5, 1923 to Alice (Prescott) and Charles Carl in Petersburg, MI. He graduated from Cement City High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He married Meredith Smith on November 5, 1942, and they were married for almost 72 years until her death on October 1, 2014. Ray worked as a manufacturing engineer for Clark Equipment in Jackson, MI for many years until his retirement, including setting up the factory in Queretaro, Mexico. After his retirement from the Jackson plant, Ray worked for Clark in Statesville, NC; Tecumseh Products; and Peerless Gear in Clinton, MI. Ray liked to always be busy building things and working in his yard. His parents and brothers, Stanley and Nelson, as well as his wife preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters Julie (Robert) Pardee of Onsted and Jane (Jan Gippo) Carl of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Nicole Ozanich (Joshua Pardon) and Michael Pardee; and his pets, his dog Madelyn and his cat Muffin. A memorial service will occur in the spring/summer months.
