Petra Casarez, age 89 of Adrian, MI went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 6, 2016. Petra was born in New Braunsfels, TX, to Merejildo and Catarina Martinez on September 12,1926. Her priorities in life were God, her Detroit Tigers and the love of her grandchildren. Her early years she spent dancing and added many ballroom dancing trophies to her shelf, the latter was spent gardening, fishing, camping and making tamales. She is preceded in death by her husband Amado Casarez, their children Emma Rosemaria and Amado (James) Jr. Petra is survived by her children Julian Casarez of Waco,TX, Fermina (Paul) Garcia, Marylou (Alex Jr.) Nieto of Adrian, MI, Josie (Richard) Rosas of Dallas, TX, Jose (Kina) Casarez of Immokalee, Fl, Ernest Casarez, Richard Casarez and Rudy Casarez of Adrian MI, Sylvia DeLeon (Tony) of Dallas TX, Teresa Casarez of Naples, FL, Grace (Larry) Henry of Defiance, OH. Petra leaves a legacy of 5 generations that will continue her passions, traditions and family values. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM, Thursday, February 11, 2016, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Vallejo officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian, MI. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.
