Madeline G. (Rosbury) Kwek

Madeline G. (Rosbury) Kwek, age 95, of Adrian, MI, passed away, October 24, 2016.  She was born February 17, 1921, in Detroit Michigan to Harold and Helen Rosbury.  She had a twin sister Geraldine and a younger sister Delores.  Madeline attended schools in Detroit and graduated from Chadsey High School in 1939.  She was very involved in the youth groups of Saint Matthews Lutheran Church.  It was there that she met the love of her life and future husband, Erich Kwek.  Madeline and Erich were married on July 14, 1941, shortly before Erich went off to fight in World War II.  He was gone for three years.  During the war, Madeline worked in the military reserve corps as a secretary in Detroit.  When Erich returned from the war, the reunited couple started their family.  Madeline and Erich raised three children:  Sandra, Beverly and Erich Jr.  Madeline mainly stayed home to raise her children, but did work occasionally at Montgomery Ward in customer service.  They had a wonderful marriage and were devoted to each other until Erich's passing in 1989.  Their strong faith and membership in the Lutheran church was central in their life.  Madeline was called to heaven on Sunday, October 24, 2016.  She was preceded in death by her husband Erich, her twin sister Geraldine, her sister Delores, daughter Beverly and her granddaughter Amy Beth.  She is survived by her children Sandra and Erich Jr; grandchildren David Allen, Jason Allen, Mark Allen, Kristina Kirkland, Jamie Thornton, Jared Kwek, Jessica Kwek, Kara Harwood and Lindsay Kwek; and 17 great grandchildren.  Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, October 29, 2016, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor Diane White officiating.  Burial will be in Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, MI.  Visitation will be on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Clinton United Church of Christ or the family.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
