Lottie Mae Cunningham (Owens) of Plymouth, MI passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Whispering Pines Foster Home, Adrian, Michigan. Lottie was born on March 27, 1928, to Phonso Geoffrey Owens and Minnie Leora (Hammett) Owens, in Miston, Tennessee. Lottie married Raymond Ross Cunningham of Obion, Tennessee in 1947, and then moved to Plymouth, MI in 1950. She worked as a baker at Hillside Inn restaurant for 20 years. Received her GED in 1975 and graduated from Plymouth Beauty School of Plymouth Michigan in 1980. She immediately opened up Lotte’s Touch of Class salon on Main Street in downtown Plymouth. In just a few years, she moved to a larger facility on Forest Avenue also in downtown Plymouth. Later she sold the business, when the beautician position opened at the Tonquish Creek Manor. That allowed to serve many of her longtime customers in-house. She finally put her shingle away in 2005 after close to 25 years as a beautician. She often took trips with relatives and close friends to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Mount Pleasants, Detroit and even the Bahamas to play the casinos. She always managed to win enough to pay for the next trip. She loved country, pop and rock 'n' roll music, always going around the house signing the old and new favorites. She was a huge Keith Urban fan. She was also a huge Tiger's fan and seldom missed a local broadcast. And there was always a game on at Whispering Pines. Where, in her final years, she received exceptional care and comfort from truly wonderful people. Lottie is survived by her sons, Dennis and wife Denise of Tecumseh, Larry and wife Mary Jo of Plymouth; daughter, Lisa (Moore) and husband Rick of Columbia, TN; brother, James Lloyd Owens; grandchildren, Denielle, Devon, Holli, Jay, Derek, Robert, Sean, Aaron and Owen. She is also blessed with 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Ross Cunningham, her parents, two sisters, seven brothers and grandchildren, Deirdra and Ty. A memorial service to celebrate Lottie's life will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 150 Fair St, Plymouth Michigan, corner of Fair and Mill (Lilley) St on Saturday, May 13th from 11am until 2pm. Casual attire is fine. Memorial contributions may either be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
