Lawrence "Larry" Nicolas DuShane

Lawrence "Larry"  Nicolas  DuShane, age 92, of Adrian, MI, passed away November 23, 2015.  He was born August 6, 1923, in Adrian, MI, the son of Henry DuShane and Donzella (Ehlinger) DuShane.  On January 19, 1947, he married Marjorie (Sayler) DuShane.  She preceded him in death on April 29, 2013.  Larry left Adrian High School to join the U.S. Army during WW II, serving as a T5 Staff Sergeant.  He was a paratrooper in North Africa, trained in Scotland and Ireland and was part of the D-Day invasion.  He received the Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1  Silver Battle Star, 4 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Award.  As a young boy, he met Henry Ford in Adrian, MI, at the Raymond Ford Dealership, sparking his interest in automobiles.  He went on to be part owner at Keith Bailey Oldsmobile.   In 1972 he began DuShane's Sales on M-50 in Tecumseh, MI.   Larry and Marjorie worked together to build a successful family business.  They could often be seen enjoying breakfast  at McDonalds.  They were always together!  Larry inspired both of his sons to follow in his footsteps.  His son Mark joined him in the family business in 1986 and his grandson Kyle joined the business in 2008.  He attended Raisin Valley Friends Church.  Larry loved spending time at the family cottage with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is survived by his children, Diane (Fred) Allen, JoAnn (C. Joseph) Doerr, Linda (Dan) Scully, Nick DuShane (Felicia Scherff), Susan (Mark) Ives and Mark DuShane, his grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Fred  (Tracy) Allen, Benjamin (Michelle) Doerr, Rachel Doerr, Daniel Lawrence (Vanessa) Scully, Christian (Frankie) Neumayer, Andrew DuShane, Nicole DuShane, Mark "Gabe" Ives, Natasha Rondeau, Jennifer (Brian) Ellis, Samantha Rondeau, Kyle Mark DuShane and Ryan Edward DuShane and nine great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife Marjorie, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lorain "Bill" DuShane, his daughter, Laura Rondeau and his granddaughter, Amanda Doerr.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with his nephew, Pastor David Woodby officiating  Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens with Military Honors performed by the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Guard.  Visitation will be on Friday, November 27, 2015, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Raisin Valley Friends Church.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
