Karen Marie (DeJonghe) Salenbien

Karen Marie Salenbien (DeJonghe), age 74, of Clinton, Michigan, passed away February 1, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Livonia, Michigan with family by her side.  Karen was born March 29, 1942 in Saline, Michigan to Jennie and Alfons DeJonghe.  She married Albert L. Salenbien Jr. on May 9, 1969. In addition to her husband, Albert, she was preceded in death by her parents.  Karen was retired from Washtenaw Community College.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, and loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.  Surviving Karen are daughter, Christine Walters (Salenbien) and husband Jeff, of Plymouth, Michigan; grandsons,  Gabe and Ben Walters and granddaughter, Kate Walters; son, Matthew Salenbien and wife Amy Salenbien (King) of Britton, Michigan and granddaughters, Bethany and Lauren Salenbien; sister, Connie Salenbien (DeJonghe)  and  brother-in-law, Leonard Salenbien.  A Mass of the Christian burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, Michigan, with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant.   Visitation will be 9:00 am at the church with a Rosary service at 10:30 am. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Parish Hall.
