Joseph Arthur Shewman

Joseph  A.  Shewman, age 84, of Adrian, MI, passed away, February 4, 2016, at home under hospice.  He was born September 11, 1931, in Addison, MI, the son of Josph & Netta (Fowler) Shewman.  He is survived by his companion, Joeleen Ruckle, his children, Nettie (Les) Ketchum, April (Ray) Meade, Jennie Garland, Judy Quigley, Harley (Elizabeth) Byers, Brenda Swain, Janette (Larre Haskell) Thompson, Gary Byers, and Sean Ide, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Josph & Neta Shewman, former wife, Lavena Shewman, two daughters, Lora Grayless and Pam Wortley,  one son, Earl Byers, two grandsons, Andrew & Harley Byers, one granddaughter, Tracy Amos and stepson, Ken Bagley.  Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2016, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Rev. Earl Brown officiating.  Military Honors will be performed by the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Guard.  Visitation will also be on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.
