Hector H. "Abe" Garcia

Hector H. Garcia "Abe", 62, resident of Monroe went home to be with our heavenly father Monday, September 11, 2017, at 5 am. He passed peacefully with family at brother Mike Garcia's home. Hector had been battling cancer for years.   Born July 23, 1955, in Monroe. He was the son of Erasmo (Ed) and the late Beatrice (Hernandez) Garcia. As a young boy he was nicknamed "Abe" for his honesty. Family moved to Alpena where he attended Alpena High School. In 1973, at age 18, he joined the Army. He served bravely until 1975. That same year he received The National Defense Service Medal.   He is survived by his father; brothers, David, Michael (DeLynn) and Chuck; sisters, Maria Mills, Teresa Garcia Ruiz, and Belinda (Tim) Fransen; daughter; Sharee Hardy, son; Bryan Hardy, grandsons; Camrin and Tyler. Along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Beatrice, his brothers; Eddy, Joseph and brother in law, Ivan. Also by his sisters; Diana and Sylvia.  The funeral services will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe, on September 30th, at 1:00. Friends and family will gather for lunch following, at VFW post 1138, 400 Jones Ave., Monroe.
