Donald Christ Sell, age 81, formerly of  Dexter, MI and East Jordan, MI, passed away Thursday, July 6th, 2017 while residing at Cambrian Senior Living in Tecumseh, MI.  Donald was born September 3, 1935, in Dexter, MI, the son of George and Margaret (Newhall) Sell.  On March 13, 1976, he married Nancy Henes, Steinbach and she preceded him in death November 14, 1997.  Don graduated from high school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, MI in 1953.  Don was in the US Air Force from 1954 - 1958 as an Air Route Traffic Control and Radar Operator in Keesler, MS. He obtained the rank of Airman First Class.  Don attended Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, CA from 1958 - 1960. He received a diploma in Aeronautical Engineering Technology, Electronics Major.  Don worked for Components Test Laboratory as a chemical engineer from 1960 - 1963, Sparton Electronics in Jackson, MI from 1963 – 1967 and Federal Mogul in the Chemistry Laboratory in Ann Arbor, MI from 1967 until his retirement in 1990.  Don held a commercial pilot rating and loved all things involving flight and technology. Don loved his dogs and the solitude and beauty of East Jordan. His response to many people and situations was a deadpan “Whoop-dee-do.”  Don was committed to a lifetime of service with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active in both Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter as well as Faith Lutheran Church in East Jordan.   He is survived by three children, Karen (Robert) Keast of Manchester, MI, Theodore (Beverly) Steinbach of Dexter, MI, and Michael (Lisa) Steinbach of Manchester, MI; five grandchildren, Ryan Steinbach, Renee Steinbach, Ben Keast, Thomas Keast, and John Keast, and one cousin,  Norma Seyfilvd formerly of Waterloo, now of Jackson, MI.  Cremation has taken place.   Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church of Dexter.    www.faithdexter.org
