Arloa Mae Speller

Arloa Mae Speller, age 86, of Adrian went to be with the Lord January 4, 2017, under the care of family friends and the staff at Lenawee Medical Care Facility.   She was born May 13, 1930,  in Adrian, MI,  to Herbert and Vera (Emery) Townsend.  On October 16, 1946, Arloa married William Speller in Adrian, MI, who preceded her in death in 2001.  She was a devoted wife and mother that will be greatly missed by family and friends.  Arloa was an active member of Raisin Valley Friends Church for most of her life serving as the church pianist.   She was also involved in the children's youth programs sharing her faith in God and love of music.  Along with being the mother of four children, Arloa worked for over 15 years in the pediatrics ward at Bixby Hospital.   During her husband’s struggle with Alzheimer’s in his later years, she was always by his side meeting his needs with love respect and prayers.  Surviving Arloa are her children, Cheryl Jarrett (Richard) of Adrian, Carol Steuwe (Jack) of Jerome, Christopher Speller (Sherrie) and Michael Speller (Kristine) of Cement City, nine grandchildren Scott and Chad Jarrett, Jeff and Holly Steuwe, Aimee, Kirsten, Lauren, Devin and Luke Speller and two great grandchildren.  Also special friends, Joan Jewell and Janet Perkins.   Also preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers, Burton, Edwin, Richard, Herbert and Clair and her two sisters Helen Richards and Arlene McKenzie and two grandsons Enoch and Nathaniel Speller.  Cremation has taken place, no services are planned.  Arrangements are through J.
