Age 72, of Mt. Clemens, died Jan. 2, 2009 at Henry Ford Select Specialty Hospital, Mt. Clemens.

2.  Jerry W. Drought
Age 64, of Jackson, died Jan. 2, 2009 at Tendercare of Albion. Cremation has taken place. 
 
 
3.  Gregory John Wolf 
Age 60, formerly of Adrian, resident of Saline, MI, passed away on Jan. 2, 2009. Gregory was born 
August 27, 1948 in Reading, PA the son of Elmer and Margaret (Schwank) Wolf. He attended 
Penn State University and left to serve in the Special Forces of the United States Army during the 
Vietnam War. He worked for Merillat Industries for 17 years and most recently was employed by Fypon, 
Inc. as Director of Marketing. He was currently enrolled through the University of Phoenix to obtain his 
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Business Management. Besides his wife, Lynette, 
Greg is survived by his daughters, Tonya (Justin) Huffman and Christi Renner Wolf; mother, 
Margaret Wolf; sister, Janice Wolf; step daughter, Alison (Duane) Durham; and grandson, Cody Durham. 
He was preceded in death by his father.Cremation has taken place. An open house to celebrate 
Greg's life will be held at the family home from 1 - 4 P. M. Saturday, January 10, 2009. A custodial account 
for educational purposes has been established for Christi. Donations will be gratefully

Age 87, of Berrien Springs, MI, passed away, January 4, 2009, at home. She was born 
September 27, 1921, in Greensboro, NC, the daughter of Ulton & Larcenia (Goins) Wood. 
Her family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation.
 
 
5.  Richard P. Plaza
Age 55, of Jackson, MI, passed away, January 4, 2009, at Allegiance Hospital. He was born 
May 9, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Leonard & Marian (Snellenberger) Plaza.  
His family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation.
 
 
6.  Georjean "Jeannie White" Hadley
Age 37, of Grass Lake, MI, formerly of Dundee, MI, passed away, January 4, 2009, as a result of a homicide.
She was born February 1, 1971, in Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of John White & Norma Smith.   In addition to her parents, 
John & Norma, she is survived by her husband, Shane Hadley, her son, Buddy Hadley, her daughter, 
Shana Hadley, four brothers, Tim (Roberta) Melton of Crosby, TX, David (Iva) Melton of Dundee, MI, 
Jack (Janet) Melton of Adrian, MI, and Bobby White of Dundee, MI, one sister, Christina (Keith) Brooks of Monroe, MI, 
her half brother, Tony, step brother, Victor, and step sister, Sandy. She was preceded in death in by her daughter, 
Amanda Lynn Hadley.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, January 10, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. 
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dundee Twp., MI. Visitation will be on Saturday

7.  Henry Shepherd
Age 80, of Mason, MI, passed away, January 4, 2009, at Eaton Community Hospice Residence. 
He was born May 16, 1928, in Prestonburg, KY, the son of Johnny & Lily (Prater) Shepherd. 
His family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation.

8.  Mae E. Illeck
Age 92, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away, January 5, 2009, at at the Napoleon, OH Lutheran Nursing Home.Mae was born August 3, 1916 in Milton, Pennsylvania the daughter of Raymond and Minnie (Kerr) Weikel. On January 15, 1948 she married Stephan Illeck in Milton, PA. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1980.
She was a graduate of Milton High School, Bloomsberg State Teachers College, Bloomsberg, PA, and Siena Heights University with her Masters and Specialist Degrees. She was a lifelong educator starting in a one room schoolhouse in rural Milton, PA to Eschwege, Germany where she was a principal/teacher to children of the U. S. Army. She retired from the Tecumseh Public Schools after 37 years of service. Mae was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Tecumseh being their first organist and choir director. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, Tecumseh Business and Professional Women, Tecumseh Monday Club, Tecumseh Music Club, Lenawee County Retired Teacher Assn and the 3 L's at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  Mae is survived by one daughter, Suzanne (Philip) McCartney of Bryan, OH; one son, Gregory (Lynn) Illeck of Anderson, S. C.; 4 grandchildren, Christopher McCartney, Michelle (Timothy) Umbaugh; Steven and Shawn Illeck and great grandson, Eli Umbaugh. Besides her husband, Stephan, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys.  Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Tecumseh with Rev. Richard Webb officiating. Burial will take place Monday, January 12, 2009 at Harmony Cemetery, Milton, PA. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 P. M. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. 13.  Erwin W. Buss
Age 87, of Adrian, formerly of Tecumseh, died January 8, 2009 at Bixby Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1921,
in Manchester, MI, the son of William and Emma (Schlicht) Buss. On June 28, 1953, he married Arlene Sherman in 
Tecumseh, MI. She preceded him in death October 15, 1998.   Erwin was retired from Tecumseh Products Company. 
He was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed farming, gardening and lawn work.
Erwin is survived by his sister-in-law and caregiver, June Wood of Adrian, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents,  5 sisters, three brothers, and a brother-in-law, 
Robert Wood.  Funeral services will take place 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 13, 2009 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 
Tecumseh, MI, with Rev. David McKinstry officiating.Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday January 12, 2009 at 
J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, MI.

16.  Shay L. Rose
Age 32, of Tecumseh, died unexpectedly January 14, 2009 in Kansas City, MO. He was born August 26, 1976,
 in Adrian, MI, the son of Chistopher L. Rose and Lee Ann Yonts. Shay attended both Tecumseh and Clinton schools. 
He was currently employed by Visteon, Saline Plant. Shay enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and friends. 
He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all. In addition to his parents, Shay is survived by two brothers,
TJ Lee Rose of Tecumseh, Cody Rose of Tecumseh; grandparents, Chuck and Betty Clucas of Deerfield; nephew,
Hudson Rose of Tecumseh; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, 
James R. Sr., and Hattie Rose. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 
J. Gilbert Purse  Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Ray Hansen officiating. Entombment will follow at Brookside 
Cemetery Mausoleum,  Tecumseh, MI.

16.  Geneva Conley
Age 84, of Tecumseh, died January 15, 2009 at Tendercare of Adrian. She was born November 4, 1924, 
in Huntington, WV, the daughter of Kellie and Maude (Mills) Adkins. Geneva attended the Tecumseh Church of God.
Geneva is survived by 3 daughters, Sandra Sizemore of Adrian, Sharon Tiede of The Woodlands, TX, and 
Debbie Poullion of Lansing; 2 sons, Dennie (Agnes) Frazier, Jr. of Hudson, and Arnold (Lynn) Frazier of Clinton; 
14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Ephraim Noble; grandson, Billy Sizemore; great grandson, 
Dillon Muldary; brother Kellie Adkins, Jr. and son-in-law, Elwood Sizemore. 
Funeral services will take place 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, 
with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, MI. Visitation will be from

17.  Gwendolyn (Colsell) Rudduck
Born in Simcoe, Ontario, March 5, 1915, at the age of 93, she went to be with her Lord and Savior on 
January 16, 2009.
She was in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Milford Rudduck, 
her parents and two brothers.  She is survived by two daughters; Sharon K. Rudduck and Janet M. Rudduck Brion 
and son in law  Gene Brion. She has six surviving grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and seven great
great grandchildren.  Gwendolyn lived in the Milan, MI, area for many years and has lived in Adrian, MI, for the past 
11 1/2 years. 
There are no funeral or memorial services pending. The family would appreciate any memorial contributions given to

18.  Lafe E. Arnett
Age 87, of Tipton, passed away, January 17, 2009, at Herrick Memorial Hospital. He was born November 21, 1921, in 
Burkettsville, Ohio, the son of Clarene & Hazel (Reeser) Arnett. On March 20, 1963 he married Eleanor Treat, 
she preceded him in death in September of 1989.  He served his country during World War II in the 145th infantry.
He is survived by his children, Jone Brighton of Adrian and Tim Arnett of Tipton, his grandchildren, Nina Fletcher of 
Cement City, Robin Gaitan of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Amy Arnett Smith of Adrian, Nickie (Angie) Griffes of Adrian, 
David Ward of Lyons, OH, 
Jason (Jennifer) Ward of Manitou Beach, Eddie (Marcie Emerson) Ward of Adrian, Tonya Ward of Blissfield, 
fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two brothers; Hantzel (Charlene) Arnett of Cement City and 
Don (Rosemary) Arnett of Adrian, one sister; Mary Warschefsky of Cement City, four step children; Bruce (Cherie) 
Gifford 
of Arlington, TX, Pat (Jackie) Miller of Blissfield, Jimmie (Sally) Gifford and Bob (Liz) Gifford of Adrian, eleven step 
grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, his son; Jon Paul, 
one daughter, Renetta Gaitan, his parents, Clarence and Hazel, 
siblings, Paul and Grace and a grandson, Eric Gaitan.  Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on 
Wednesday, January 21, 2009

19.  Ector "Abel" Cuellar
Age 53, of Onsted, passed away, January 18, 2009, at U of M Hospital. He was born July 30, 1955, in 
Adrian, MI, the son 
of Ignacio & Eligia (Johnson) Cuellar, Sr. On August 15, 1987, he married Sheryl Callahan, she survives.
Abel was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar.  In addition to his wife Sheryl, he is survived by his 
children; 
Janee (Rusty) Garza of Adrian, Abel (Erin) Cuellar of Kansas City, Bocephus Cuellar of Adrian and Joby & 
Casey Cuellar 
both of Onsted, his mother; Eligia Cuellar, his grandchildren; Braxton, Jersi, Tristen and Zane, two brothers; 
Robert Cuellar and James (Mag) Cuellar, two sisters; Elodia Hernandez and Mary (Fred) Cantu. 
He was preceded in death by his father, Ignacio, and brothers; Louis, Ignacio Jr., and Rudy Serrato.

20.  Ralph Snyder
Age 78, of Tecumseh, passed away, January 19, 2009. Ralph was born April 19, 1930 in Hillsdale Co., MI the son of 
Ross Dudley and Minnie Elizabeth (Hooker) Snyder. On March 8, 1951 he married Donna Jones in Angola, Indiana. 
She preceded him in death on October 5, 2001. He retired from Tecumseh Products after 38 years of service. 
His loves were camping in Northern Michigan, vacationing in Yuma, Arizona and above all his cat, Tinkerbell. 
Ralph is survived by 2 sisters, Joyce (Melvin) Benschoter of Palmyra and Darlene (Bennett) Palmer of Devils Lake, 
5 brothers, Laurence (Betty) of Lake Placid, FL, Val (Sandy) of Adrian, Ted (Brenda) of Manitou Beach, 
Douglas (Carol VanZant) of Hudson, and and Daryl (Kay Cagle) of Adrian.  In addition to his his wife, Donna, 
he was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Donald, Ross, William and Robert.

Age 83 of Clinton Twp., MI, formerly of Tampa, FL, passed away, January 21, 2009. She was born January 16, 1926,

22.  William "Bill" Sipes
Age 62, of Adrian, passed away, January 22, 2009, at Bixby Medical Center. He was born October 28, 1946, in 
Millville, NJ, the son of Kenneth & Dorothea (Husted) Sipes.  He is survived by his brother; Kenneth Grove Sipes, Jr.,
 four sisters;  D. Ruthann Ellis, Margaret Louise Sipes, Nancy Jane Gilbert and her husband Dewey "Butch" and 
Patricia Ann Lamb and her husband Willard, and nine nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 26, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral, Adrian, with 
Rev. Chad Hovind officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday

23.  Karen C. Amstutz
Age 66, of Deerfield, passed away, January 23, 2009. Karen was born January 13, 1943, in Tecumseh, 
Michigan the daughter of Harry and Leona (Theeke) Amstutz. She was a 1961 graduate of Deerfield High School. 
After graduation from high school, Karen worked for Brockley Studios and later retired from General Motors 
after 32 years. Her family was the center of her life. Karen became the family photographer, always 
taking pictures of family and friends, especially enjoying the little children.
Karen was a lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Deerfield and the Adrian Moose Lodge Auxiliary. 
One of her joys in life was her avid love of golfing.
Karen is survived by her siblings, Harold J. (Barney) Amstutz of Britton, Samuel H. (Lorraine) Amstutz of 
Tucson, AZ, LuAnn McCarty of Deerfield and Daniel L. Amstutz of Britton; many nieces and nephews;
a dear friend, Sandra O'Neill who has been a great support during her illness and two lifelong friends, 
Shirley Armstrong and Violet Herman. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Mary Ellen Spreeman, and Esther Rita Sprunk.
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 
St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Deerfield with the Rev. Fr. Jack Loughran as presider. Burial will follow in 
Macon Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 
Tecumseh and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A vigil service will be held 
7:00 P. M. Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church,

26.  Charles "Bill" Landenberger
Age 77, of Madison Twp., passed away, January 24, 2009, at Tendercare of Adrian, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, children; David Michael and Diana (Steven) Roesch, his grandchildren and 
great grandchildren.Burial took place in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.

27.  JAMES A. CROSS
Age 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday, January 25, 2009, at the Stein Hospice Service in Sandusky, Ohio. 
James was born October 20, 1930 in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, MI, to Floyd & Clarissa (Panck) Cross 
and was raised in the Britton, Michigan area. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. 
Jim was an enlisted veteran who after his time of service spent most of his
working life dedicated to serving in the propane 
industry in many different capacities. He spent many of his propane years as a Division Manager for Northern Propane 
Gas (Norgas). While located in Durand, MI, Jim was an active member of the Durand Masonic Temple and also a 32nd 
degree Shrine member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Fire Brigade unit. 
Jim was a long timemember of theDurand First Congregational Church and also a member of the 
Father's Heart Family Church in Sandusky, OH. 
Survivors include: daughters, Janet (Francisco) Guevara of Sandusky, Ohio and Vickie (Jim) Murphy of Byron, MI, 
sons, James (Ellen) Cross Jr. of Byron, MI and Greg (Kim) Cross of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 
and seven great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his wife Leah, daughter Sandy, 
grandson Jessie Murphy, sisters, Christine Sparks, 
Mary Bogedain, and brother, Robert Cross.The funeral service will be held at J. GIlbert Purse Funeral Home, 
210 W. Pottawatamie, Tecumseh, MI on Wednesday, January 28, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tony Roberts officiating. 
Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI with military honors conducted by the 
Michigan Army National Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. 
and Wednesday, Jan 28, from 10 am till time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the 
American Heart Association and Stein Hospice Service.

37.  Viola Marie Burger
Age 83, of Brooklyn, passed away January 29, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends. 
Viola was born January 19, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. On August 24, 1943 she married Clarence Burger and 
they celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage. She and her husband Clarence, for 20 years were the owners 
of the DoNoHop donut shop on U. S. 12. She was a loving, caring, giving person who was also a devoted Christian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and a son, Theodore.

He was born December 16, 1932, in Toledo, OH, the son of George & Lulu (Gammel) Stephenson. 
On February 21, 1953, he married Neva Stephenson, she preceded him in death. 
Walter is survived by his sons, Robbie (Marlene) Stephenson of Tecumseh and Randie (Sonia) Stephenson 
of Flat Rock, his grandchildren; Elizabeth, Cassie, Aubrey, Susan and Lisa, three great grandchildren, one brother,

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, his son Rickie, and a brother George.

42.  Ruth Puffer
Age 93 of Mason, died Feb. 1, 2009. She was born March 19, 1915, in Holloway, the daughter of 
Ted and Lena (Pocklington) LaBounty. On December 24, 1936 she married Ray Puffer in Tecumseh. 
He preceded her in death on January 10, 1997. Ruth was a graduate of County Normal and 
Eastern Michigan University. She retired from the Tecumseh Public Schools in 1980. 
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mason and a former member of the 
First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. Ruth was a member of Chapter AJ-PEO and Mason Women's Club. 
In addition to her husband Ray, she was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Mary; and sister June Pichler.
She is survived by two children, Dr. Raymond L. (Kathleen) Puffer of Victorville, CA, 
and Miriam (Robert) Sybrandy of Lansing; four grandchildren, Ted and Faith Anne Puffer and 
Thomas Sybrandy and Sarah (Mark) Genovese; sister, Ellen (Clif) Stitt of Jackson, MI, and two brothers, 
Raymond LaBounty of Townsend, TN, and Donald LaBounty of Ellenton, FL.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday February 5, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh with 
Rev. William Pinches of the First Presbyterian Church of Mason officiating. I

Age 82 years of Onsted, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 1, 2009. 
Viola was born on June 30, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Lusty. 
She graduated from St. Michaels in Flint in 1944. Viola married Robert E. Cauley on April 30, 1955 
in Flint. After celebrating 50 years of marriage together, Robert preceded her in death on 
November 30, 2005. Viola was a homemaker, having raised eight children whom she was very proud of. 
She was an active member of the St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church in the Irish Hills. 
For over 10 years, she has belonged to a group that has met (at the home of her good friend Lorretta Lambaugh) 
the 13th of the month to pray the Rosary. She prayed the Rosary of the Devine Chaplet at her home daily. 
She also belonged to the Red Hat Society.
Viola is survived by her eight children, Patrick Earl (Vicki) Cauley, II of St. Petersburg, FL, 
Diane (Danny) Bragg of Saline, Elizabeth (Tedd) Bergeron of Ridgeway, Matthew (Lesa) Cauley of Saline, 
Frederick (Kimberly) Cauley of Brighton, Madeline (Tony) Valdez of Adrian, Michele (Michael) Wehr of Belleville and
Ernie Cauley of Onsted, 38 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Doris Jean, and two brothers, Charles and John Lusty. 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the

Resident of Grass Lake, son of Katrina, and James Damaron, was born November 19, 1990, and passed away 
February 4, 2009 at the age of 18 years. On December 1, 2007, he became a father at the age of 17. 
Electing options education to fast track his career, he graduated a full year early with a 3.8 GPA while working two jobs.
His family became his fondest thought, Jeremiah his greatest delight and Lindsay his adored fiancé. 
He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart at 5 years of age, and participated in the Awana’s program at Church.
He was a very determined, intelligent, outspoken young man. He was a loving father, devoted fiancé, amazing son, 
adventurous brother, and friend. From making people laugh to having a debate, he touched many lives with 
lasting impressive memories. He is survived by his father James (Debbie) Damaron, his mother Katrina (Tracy) Sanford,

Peggy was born in Henderson, Tennessee. She moved to Michigan with her family at an early age. 
She attended Jackson Public Schools, graduating in 1965. She also attended Jackson Community College, 
Kellogg Community College and accomplished a degree in Culinary Arts. 
Peggy was a true to the heart country girl, but her true love was Jehovah God, and with his love 
he taught her how to truly love her children, family and friends.

Age 88 of Tecumseh, formerly of Blissfield, passed away, February 11, 2009 at the home of her daughter 
surrounded by her loving family. Diana was born January 27, 1921 in Knott County, Kentucky, the daughter of 
Garfield and Nancy (Honeycutt) Collins. On September 22, 1939, she married Clyde B. Spivey in 
Pikeville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2008. Mrs. Spivey was a resident of the Tecumseh and 
Blissfield areas since 1950. She worked at Meyers Aircraft in Tecumseh and is a member of the 
Adrian Freewill Baptist Church.
Diana is survived by her four children, Nancy (Elmer) Seeburger of Palmyra, James (Regina) Spivey of Green Valley, 
Arizona, Linda (Delmas) Dotson of Tecumseh and Clyde (Nancy) Spivey of Blissfield; seven grandchildren; 
eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Clyde, 
Diana was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maggie Hall, Myrtle Ward and Eliza Johnson and one brother,

Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church. Besides her husband, Robert, Bette is survived by her sons, 
Robert (Deb) Williamson of Columbus, North Carolina and Barry (Trish) Williamson of Tecumseh; grandchildren, 
Sharon, Matt, Elizabeth and Joe; great grandchildren, Savannah, Jessica and Keely; brothers Robert Purkey and 
Richard (Florine) Purkey and Jim (Beverly) Purkey and sister, Lois Tilton. She was preceded in death by her

61.  Forrest "Bud" Porterfield
Age 76, of Clinton, passed away February 17, 2009. Bud was born September 20, 1932 in Carsonville, MI 
the son of Harry and Cora (Bachman) Porterfield. On June 26, 1955 he married
Nancy Hedlesky in Ypsilanti, MI. Bud retired from Ford Motor Co after 30 years of service. 
After retirement, he was a bus driver for the Clinton Community Schools. Bud loved the game of baseball 
and was a little league coach for many years in Clinton. He was a devoted New York Yankee fan and an 
avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather and especially 
loved spending time with his grandchildren. To them, he was their hero. 
Besides his wife, Nancy, Bud is survived by his children, Kim Sines, Randy (Jana) Porterfield, Brian Porterfield, 
Dale (Julie) Porterfield and David Porterfield; grandchildren, Brad, Danielle, Kelsey, Kristen, Forrest, Megan, 
and Zach; great grandchildren, Zoe and Emma; siblings, Alice, Kay, Dale and Roger; 
numerous nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce.

at University Hospitals, Ann Arbor. Annabelle was born June 20, 1931 in Dalton, PA, the daughter of 
George and Bridget (Gallagher) Potter. On June 18, 1949, she married John Brelish in Olyphant, PA. 
He preceded her in death February 3, 2005. She was retired from DST Industries, Clinton, MI. 
Annabelle was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Clinton, MI and the Red Hat Society of 
Manchester, MI. She also took part in helping to serve lunches at the Senior Center of Manchester.
Annabelle is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Lentz of Clinton, Sharon (John) Quigley of 
DeTour Village, MI and Donna (Edward) Braun of Manchester; 5 grandchildren, Tony (Natalie) Lewis of Adrian, 
Marcie (Roy) Dechert of Clinton, Jared Davis of Tecumseh, Kyle Lentz of Clinton and 
Jonathan Braun of Manchester; 2 great grandsons, Alex and Blake Dechert of Clinton; two sisters, 
Vera Russin and Ethel Potter, both of Scranton, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews, 
including a special niece Ann Marie Borowski and her family of Taylor, PA. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Age 85, of Adrian, passed away, February 26, 2009, at home surrounded by family and friends. 
He was born March 1, 1923, in San Antonio, TX, the son of Cristobal Ozuna & Maria Mendez. 
On September 11, 1955, he married Donna Nichols in Lima, OH, she survives. 
He was retired from Peerless Gear. Roy also worked in the deli at Meijer's in Adrian for the past 13 years. 
He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Roy was a devoted Democrat and a Precinct 2 Delegate and a proud 
WW II Veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in the Phillippines. Roy enriched people’s
lives by playing Santa Claus and visiting the 
middle school where his daughter worked. He sang from early childhood through all his life to make people happy. 
Roy was a friend and grandpa to everyone. He sang happy birthday to anyone whose birthday it was. 
He made everyone smile who crossed his path. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his children; Leonard R. (Jesusita) Mendez, Cristobal (Cynthia) Mendez, 
Raul H. (Eugenia) Mendez, David L. (Teresa) Hasting, Peggy M. (Wandell) Mayhorn, Carolyn S. (James) Wireman, 
Angelina Ables (Michael SanMiguel), Raul O. (Gayle) Mendez, Jr. and Tina (Manuel) Ramirez, 30 grandchildren, 
69 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, two primo hermanos, Francisco (Margarita) Diaz & Gonzalo Diaz, 
half sister, Ernestina Torres, dear cousin, Ofelia Luna, and many nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, James Wireman, Jr., and Felix Beltran, 
two cousins, John and Tony Morales, and maternal grandparents, Juliana & Eusebio Mendez.
Funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 AM, Monday, March 2, 2009, at St. Mary of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Adrian, 
with Rev. Fr. Robert Schramm as Presider. Rite of Committal will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian 
with Military Honors conducted by the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Guard, Lansing, MI. 
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on both Saturday & Sunday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian 
and also on Monday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

82.  Robert T. Kollar
Age 72, of Macon, passed away March 3, 2009. Robert was born January 2, 1937 in Delray, Michigan 
the son of Paul and Rose (Chickie) Kollar. On June 17, 1961 he married Shirley Mueller in Macon. 
She survives. After working for many years in the automotive industry he retired from Pilkington in Clinton. In his his 
earlier years he was a Macon farmer. Robert was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean conflict. 
Hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and his property in Tawas were his loves. Above all, he was devoted to his family, 
especially his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife, Shirley, Robert is survived by his children, 
Edmund (Sandra) of Alabama, Deborah of Adrian and Daniel (Debora) of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Michael, 
Matthew, Damian, and Daniel,Jr.,; brother, Earnie of Germany; sister in laws, Helga and Judy; brother in laws, Ron, 
Tom and Larry and numerous nieces, nephews, a cousin, Helen and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, 
brother, Paul and grandson, Jack.  According to his wishes cremation has taken place. 
A Memorial service will be 1:00 P. M. Friday, March 6, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh
 with Rev. Lance Ness officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in Macon Cemetery at a later date.

Age 64, of Tecumseh, Michigan died Wednesday March 4, 2009 in her home surrounded by family. 
Mrs. McCarley was born May 29, 1944 in Tecumseh, Michigan, the daughter of William and Emily Buchheimer. 
On August 1, 1964 she married Dean McCarley in Tecumseh, Michigan. He survives her. 
She worked for General Motors and later for Turkey Creek until her retirement. 
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Dean, her mother Emily Matynowski, and her three sons, Samuel (Tammi), 
Scott (Kelly), and Stephen (Kathleen), and four grandchildren, 
Logan, Griffin, Anna, and Seamus.
She was preceded in death by her father William and two brothers, Fred and Paul.
She enjoyed antiquing with her husband and quilting. She also cherished time with her family, friends, 
and wonderful grandchildren. This comes with great sadness and she will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14th from 
12:00 to 2:00pm at J. GIlbert Purse funeral home in Tecumseh.

Age 87, of Adrian, formerly of Lancaster, Ohio passed away March 5, 2009 surrounded by her Grand Court family, 
Hospice of Lenawee and her niece, Barbara. Isabelle was born October 14, 1921, in Sugar Grove, Ohio t
he daughter of Fred and Lottie (Moffitt) Sharp. She married John Strock on October 12, 1946 and he preceded her in death.
Isabelle was a woman who loved to shop. One of her passions was collecting Fenton Glass.
Her other passion was spending time with her niece and side-kick, Barbara Lee (Danny) Clymer of Tecumseh, MI. 
Even though Barbara had moved her to Michigan to be closer, her love for the Ohio Buckeyes remained to the end, 
much to the dismay of her grand Court family where she resided. Isabelle is survived by 
one brother, Fred (Jovie) Sharp of Quaker City, Ohio; nieces, Sherry L. Scherber of Indianapolis, Ind., 
Carol (Bob) Perino of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Christine (Pierce) Byrne of Frederick, CO; nephews, 
William (Billy) Hunter of Tecumseh and Fred Pierce of Lancaster, Ohio; great nephews, 
Shaun (Sara) Clymer of Westminster, CO 
and Christopher Clymer of Tecumseh.  Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, 
Margaret, Ruth, Mary, Anna and Frances and one brother, Bill.
At Isabelle's request, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be buried with her 
husband John in Sugar Grove, Ohio. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

93.  Leland Irving Klatt
Age 89, of Clayton, passed away March 9, 2009. Leland was born May 16, 1919 in Sylvania, Ohio the son of Ernest and 
Tessie (VanDoren) Klatt. On February 19, 1944 he married Carmella Viola Galici in Detroit, MI. 
She preceded him in death April 25, 2003. In his early years he farmed with his grandfather. 
He then worked in the tool and die industry for 30 years. After leaving the tool and die profession he and 
Carmella became self employed in the coal business, landscaping, weed cutting, Adrian Sod Farm and the 
Adrian Peat Moss Farm. He was a writer of poetry and belonged to the Library of Poets in Washington D. C. 
He was a devoted believer in Christ and his principles. 
Leland is survived by his children, Daniel and Deborah (Fred) Sisty; grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, 
Adam, Aaron, Aric, and Alan Jeffrey; great grandchildren, Alyson, Dominic, Braydon and Lexi and step sister, 
Dorothy. Besides his wife, Carmella, Leland was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P. M. Friday, March 20, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,

He was born January 16, 1941, in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of William & Betty (Weirick) Miller. 
On April 9, 1973, he married Sandra Williams, she survives. Dennis served his his country in the U.S. Army. 
He was a former employee of Garden State Tanning & Dura Convertible. 
In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his children; Dennis M. Miller of Illinois, 
Carl Miller of Indiana, Jimmy Miller of Seattle, William J. Miller of Brooklyn, Colette Miller of Brooklyn, 
Kristen Miller & her husband Tommy Morris of Michigan Center, twelve grandchildren; and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Madeline Kirkpatrick, and a daughter; Beth Ann.

Age 48, of Tecumseh, passed away March 15, 2009. Jeffrey was born June 1, 1960 in Ann Arbor, 
Michigan the son of Paul and Janet (Armbruster) Gerstler. He was a 1978 graduate of Clinton High School. 
For over 20 years he worked for Rhetech, Inc. and recently was self employed. 
Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and motorcycle riding.
Jeff is survived by his mother Janet Gerstler of Tecumseh, brother Mark Gerstler of 
Washington Courthouse, OH; grandmother, Florence Armbruster of Ann Arbor, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul. Upon Jeffrey's request cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will take place 3:00 PM Thursday March 19, 2009, at Clinton United Methodist Church with 
Rev. Faye McKinstry officiating. 
A luncheon in honor of Jeffrey will follow after the service at the church.

Age 80, of Brooklyn, formerly of Tecumseh, went to be with the Lord, Monday March 16, 2009. 
She was born November 23, 1928 in Hamtramck the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Gabrych) Zakoscielny.
 In 1954 she married Joseph Jackowski. He preceded her in death in 1986. Ann lived with her family in 
Tecumseh from 1958 until 1986 when she moved to Brooklyn. Anna worked for the Adrian Training School, retiring in 1991. 
After retirement she worked for Country Market decorating cakes. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. 
Anna loved to play shuffleboard and cards with her good friend "Bud". She also shared many special moments 
with lifelong Joanne Golowic.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Ann is survived by four children, Doug Jackowski of Adrian, 
Christopher (Tonda) Jackowski of Stark, FL, Mark Jackowski of Tecumseh, and Joann Jackowski of Georgia; 
brother, Joseph (Betty) Church of Pellston; sister, Dorothy (George) Beaves of Dubuque, IA;
7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, and her beloved dog, "Pumpkin". 
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Friday March 20, 2009 at 
St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church, Irish Hills with Rev. Fr. Carl Simon officiating. 
Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

She was employed for 15 years at Adrian Public Schools as a Teachers Aide. She retired in 1986.

Resident of Tecumseh, formerly of Owosso, passed away March 19, 2009.
Doris was born in Duquense, Pa., the daughter of Blair and Elizabeth Morgan. In 1947 she married 
John Shirk. John died in a car accident in 1977. In 1986 she married Earl D. Mason and he survives. 
Surviving children are Ronald (Jeanie) Shirk of Flint, Mich., Diane (Gary) Hahnert of Spokane Valley, Wash., 
Rebecca (Mark) Vredenburgh of Long Beach, Calif., Jeffery (Jane) Shirk of Dansville, Mich., 
Elaine (Gary) Hudson of Murrieta, Calif., and Erik (Denise) Mason of Livonia, Mich. Also surviving are 
10 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Her sister, Shirley (Robert) Harper of West Mifflin, Pa., also survives.
Doris was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Morgan; her sister, Ruth Hackett, and a grandson, Adam Shirk. 
Doris worked in the Insurance field for many years while living in Owosso and then in the court system 
after moving to Tecumseh. After Doris retired in 1988 she enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and relatives. 
Cremation has taken place at her request, and there will be a Memorial Service at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in 
Tecumseh on March 27, 2009, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Webb officiating. 
Memorial donations may be made to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Age 68, of Adrian, passed away, March 22, 2009. He was born March 2, 1941, in Tecumseh, MI, 
the son of Lester & Lucille (Dunlop) Sweet. On October 30, 1964, he married Judy Cox, she preceded him in death. 
Don enjoyed singing karaoke and was an avid coin collector and golfer.
He is survived by his children; Don Sweet, Jr., Deb (Keith) Zubke, Mike Sweet and Jeff Sweet, four grandchildren; 
Kaileah, Keegan, Harlie and Jacob, two sisters; Diane Morin and Sandra Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Lucille, and his wife, Judy.

She was born May 27, 1947, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Wesley & Vina (Cady) Rinehart. 
On December 24, 1975, she married Raymond Johnson, he survives.
In addition to her husband Raymond, she is survived by her sisters; Maureen Strong of Manchester, 
Kathryn Demlow of Adrian, Sharon McDonald of Adrian and Ruth Wright of Tipton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother; Dale.
According to Dianna's wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.

Age 87, of Adrian, formerly of Johnstown, New York, passed away March 25, 2009. 
Jeanette was born October 27, 1921 in Dickson City, Pennsylvania the daughter of 
Walter and Helena (Lesher) Ramik. On April 11, 1944 she married Stanley Pavlowski. 
He preceded her in death December 26, 2008. Jeanette is survived by her son, Michael (Diane) Pavlowski of Onsted; 
daughter, Sharon (Martin) Rostoker of Arlington Heights, IL; three grandchildren and 
eight great grandchildren Besides her husband. Stanley, she was preceded in death by her parents; 
grandson, Matthew Rostoker and two sisters, Dukie and Louise.

Age 76, passed away, March 25, 2009.at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born 
May 11, 1932, in Hamilton AL, the daughter of James & Elizabeth (Roberts) Clayton. Quilla was retired from Peerless Gear. 
Quilla is survived by her beloved husband of 15 years; Wade, her beloved children; 
Jimmy (Kathy) Colburn, Marlin (Tammy) Colburn, Diane (Jeff) Weiss, Ralph (Becky) Colburn and 
Kenneth Allen (Lisa) Colburn Sr.;step children, Rodney, Regina, Shane and Lane Wiggington; 
twenty two grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; Maurice Colburn, her son; 
Dennis Colburn, her daughter Patricia Colburn, her parents; James & Elizabeth Clayton, and her two sisters; 
Dixie Lee Edmond and Drexal Hurley. 
Quilla devoted her life to spending time with her family and loved ones and she will be greatly missed.

Age 55, of Adrian, passed away, March 27, 2009,at home. He was born October 8, 1953, 
in Haleyville, AL. Randy's kids and grand kids were his life. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music. 
He loved traveling south to visit. He enjoyed sitting outside watching his grandkids play and racing them in his 
gogo mobile. He also enjoyed sitting outside having a cold drink.
He married Debbie Lemon in April 1971 in Adrian, MI. He is survived by their five children, 
Toby (Kim) Hiser and Mark Hiser both of Tennessee, Gordon (SherryJean) Hiser of Hudson, 
Pamela (Bobby) Folsom of Texas, and Jennifer Hiser of Adrian. He later married LeAnna Lewis of Clayton. 
They had two children, Terrie Hiser and Erica Hiser of Clayton, MI, he is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, 
two great grandchildren, his mother Geri Kuney of Adrian, two brothers, 
Phillip (LeAnn) Hiser of Onsted and Joel (Maridane) Hiser of California, 
two nieces and a nephew, and many more close friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Hiser of Alabama, his father, 
Junior Hiser and step father Dick Kuney.

She survives. He was a college graduate and a U. S. Army mapmaker. After 35 years of service 
he retired from Daimler Chrysler as a transmission designer. Frederick loved fishing and watching NASCAR racing.

Age 80, of Britton, passed away March 29,2009 surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
Oliver was born November 6, 1928 in Macon Twp., the son of Harold and Leah (Palmer) Craig. 
Oliver was a lifelong farmer and also retired from Ford Motor Co. after 30 years of service. 
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Oliver was a member of the 
Tecumseh American Legion, Tecumseh VFW, Lenawee County Shriners and the 
Tecumseh Masonic Lodge #69 F.& A.M. Some of his enjoyments in life were farming, gardening, 
raising chickens and peacocks and traveling with Ollie's Group. Oliver is survived by his sons, 
James D.(Betty) Craig and Thomas H. (Beverly) Craig; grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Watson, 
Josh (Stephanie) Craig, Hayden Craig and Kellen Craig; five great grandchildren with another 
great grandson due in May; siblings, Janice Porterfield, Isabelle Craig, Virginia Wells, Dorothy Bunek, 
Catherine (Robert) Jones and Phyllis (Jim Lucas) Perry and a special companion and friend, Phyllis Mull.

and he preceded her in death in 1990. Irene was a member of the Red Hat Society of Clinton, 
Clinton American Legion #176 Auxiliary, and La Femmes 40&8 of Lenawee. 
She also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star. Irene is survived by her children,

Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Kristina (Rodney) Price of Clayton, Matthew Stoner of Ypsilanti,

123.  Wilford A. Shepherd
Age 65, of Adrian died Monday, 31 March 2009 at Bixby Hospital.
He was born 9 August 1943, in Britton, MI, to Ray and Verbena Shepherd. 
He lived in Adrian for the last thirty-seven years under the excellent care of New Horizons and Renaissance Homes. 
Wilford was like a rock to those who knew him: always there, always kind. He will be grieved by many.
Wilford is survived by: sisters Peggy Sanderson and Mary Hurley; brothers Max Shepherd and 
Daniel Shepherd; nieces: Lynn, Kristen, Donna, and Julia; nephews: Brian, Adam, and Jeff; 
and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Wilford will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday 19 April 2009 at the Purse Funeral Home with 
Dr. Daniel Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be held on

125.  George Edward Budwit
Age 68, of Tecumseh, passed away, April 1, 2009, at 3:00 AM at home surrounded by his family. 
He was born, September 27, 1940, at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of 
Benjamin & Bertha (DeJager) Budwit. On August 31, 1963, he married Sue Ann Dorman in Pontiac, MI, she survives. 
George attended St. Michael's School in Pontiac and served as an alter boy at St. Michael's Parish. 
George worked at Orchard Lake Country Club & Tam O'Shanter Country Club while 
attending college at the University of Michigan. He was retired from General Motors Corporation and served as a 
seventh level designer for 35 years. 
While at GM, George accepted the daunting task of organizing their golf league and managing tee times and golf scores. 
He also earned a reputation as a 200 average bowler and team anchor. George raised Morgan horses and loved to 
show them with his daughter and granddaughter. He served 15 years as a Morgan Gold Cup Director. 
Morgan enthusiasts remember him driving his prized stallion Cromwell Symphony to many blue ribbon wins. 
George also built two show barns, one for himself and one for his daughter. His other pastimes included 
gourmet dining, backyard grilling and traveling domestic and international. 
In addition to his wife Sue Ann, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Ann Flint and her husband Clell 
and their two children, Katherine and Alexander.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 
Tecumseh, with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as Presider. Rite of Committal will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

128.  Guy M. Cox
Cherished husband, dedicated father, and doting grandpa passed away surrounded 
by family on April 6, 2009 at Bixby Medical Center,
Adrian. Guy was born on February 6, 1927 in North Adams, Michigan to parents, 
Charles Roscoe Cox and Hazel Beth Ann Reynolds Cox. He and his four brothers attended 
and graduated from Addison Community SchoolsGuy entered the United States Navy in 1944 
to serve aboard an LSM 41. He was a Seaman 1st Class during World War II and participated in 
several campaigns in the Philippines and South Pacific. He was the ship Chaplain and Store Keeper. 
At the end of the War, he decommissioned his ship in Charleston, South Carolina. Guy has continued to stay 
in touch with his navy buddies at various navel reunions. He has enjoyed sharing his sea stories with 
friends and family. Throughout the years he has stayed in touch with, 
best friend and shipmate, Harry Bryson of Columbus, Ohio.
Upon his return to the states, Guy entered Adrian College to study in the pre-law program. 
He also became interested in a young woman, Juanita Mae Luce. Guy and Juanita were 
married on December 11, 1954 at the Tipton Community Congregational Church, Tipton, Michigan. 
Their marriage of over 50 years and has been filled with square dancing, 
a neighborhood euchre club, church bowling leagues, and watching western movies.
Guy was employed by the Tecumseh Products for 42 years. During his tenure there he was an active 
member of the Tecumseh Products Workers Union. He served as the secretary or president for almost 20 years. 
He fought for the rights of the workers and made many friends along the way.
Guy has always been an active community member. He has been a Boy Scout Leader, 
Tipton Community Congregational Church member and a member of the Moose and American Legion. 
His latest project was the Lenawee County Landlords Association where he served as treasurer.
Guy expressed his adventurous spirit by flying his Piper J4E and riding his Indian motor cycle. 
He enjoyed giving rides to family. Guy loved family outings such as canoeing the 
Ausable River, sightseeing in the Colorado Mountains, 
and trips to Florida and Canada were high points for him.
Guy is survived by son, Guy (Kris) Corwin Cox of Tecumseh, daughters, 
Connie (James) Morse of Tecumseh, Cathy (Mikkel) Gammeltoft of Tipton and Cynthia (Scott) Upton, of Spring, Texas. 
Brothers, Burtus E. Cox and Charles Cox of North Adams, Michigan. 
He has 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents,
 two sons, Robert and Timothy and brothers, Robert and Laverne.
A celebration of Guy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the 
J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Tecumseh with Reverend Keith Porter and Pastor John Deuble officiating. 
Internment will be in Franklin Township Cemetery, Tipton, Michigan. Visitation will be on Friday from

She will be forever remembered for her compassion of others and her deep love for family, especially her grandchildren.

149.  Dorothy Eva Sinclair
Age  76, of Blissfield, MI, left this earth on Sunday, January 25, 2009, to join our heavenly Father awaiting her on the 
brightest star in the heavens. After fighting a long painful battle, she was released from her suffering at long last. 
As the star shone above giving a sign that she would now be free, her eternally loving husband of 61 years held her 
close as she slipped gracefully, painlessly and quietly away. Dorothy was born to Oscar K. Miller & Mary (Conrad) Miller 
on November 6, 1932, and married "Jack" on October 20, 1947.
She is survived by her loving husband, her mother, Mary Miller, five children, Larry Sinclair, 
Connie (Carl) Bahls, Dottie (Joe) Nix, Dwight (Rosemary) Sinclair and Brock (Erin) Sinclair, over 70 grandchildren, 
great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, her brother Melvin (Melanie) Miller, sisters, Karen Salsbury

of the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield, the Boy Scouts of America, the church choir, 4-H Bingo, 
and meals on wheels. She took great pride in her collection of porcelain dolls and her

Age 33, of Toledo, OH, passed peacefully in her sleep, April 19, 2009, after a lengthy struggle with Epilepsy. 
She was born December 23, 1975 in Petersburg, VA and raised in Adrian, MI by a large, loving Christian family. 
Christina was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Seferino and Irene Lerma, 
her maternal grandfather, Andres T. Jaimes, and two fun-loving cousins Roy F. Jaimez, Jr. and Phillip Jaimes. 
Christina leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Elayna Elisa Lerma; 
mother and stepfather, Rayfield and Anita Coley; 
sisters and step sisters Leah R. Pierson, Rachel (Todd) Brown, Keisha and Towana Davis and Juliette Smith, 
all of Toledo; special nieces and nephews Rashaad, Justice and T. J. Brown, Breah J. Davis; 
her maternal grandmother, Pauline Jaimes; her father and step-mother Samuel and Linda Lerma and 
stepbrother Sammy Lerma of San Antonio, TX, supportive extended families the Jaimes family, 
Anita Aranda Guerrero family, John Lee Guerrero, and John A. Guerrero family and Mike and Mary Guerrero. 
Christina was a member of First Church of God and served on the Usher Board. 
She loved the Lord and claimed him as Saviour early in her life. She cherished family and friends and spent 
many happy moments surrounded by loved ones. Grandma Jaimes' house was 
her favorite place to be and she loved grandma's Sunday taco dinners.

Age 65, of Baroda, formerly of Adrian, passed away, April 20, 2009, at the 
University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. She was born July 29, 1943, 
in Corpus Christi, TX, the daughter of Jesus & Josephina (Ramirez) Sanchez. On June 26, 1965, 
she married Pilar "Pete" Leon, Jr., he survives. Mary was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University 
receiving a BSN. She worked as a public health nurse for fifteen years. Mary loved her family and she 
was a great dedicated witness and worker for The Lord.
In addition to her husband Pete, she is survived by her two daughters; Kelly (Paul) Kirk 
and their children, Zachary, Stefanie, Alison and Samantha, and Jennifer (Mark) Broberg and their 
children, Haillie, Noah, Jonah, Silas, three brothers, Abel Sanchez, Edward Sanchez and 
Armando Sanchez, and three sisters, Irene Gonzalez, Ruth Gomez, Josephina Alvardo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus & Josephina Sanchez, two brothers, Alfonso Sanchez and 
Jesse Sanchez, Jr., and one sister, Mary Louise Gonzalez.  Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2009

153.  Sherry Linda Schreck
Age 46, died on April 22, 2009 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Sherry was born in Detroit, MI on 
November 20, 1962 to Eugene and Irene Bartley (Kokot). Sherry graduated from Saline High School 
and in 1986 Brigham Young University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts and a teaching certificate. 
Sherry married John S. Schreck in 1994 and he survives. The last several years Sherry spent in Tecumseh 
managing her husband’s chiropractic office.  Family and faith were the most important things in Sherry’s life. 
Her life revolved around her children, her husband and her church. She was also an avid doll collector, artist, 
and gardener. She was working on writing and illustrating her first children’s book. Sherry is survived by her 
husband John S. Schreck; her children Nicole Horrocks, Jessica Horrocks, Russell Horrocks, Victoria Schreck, 
Jonathon Schreck, Joshua Schreck, all of Tecumseh; Jason Schreck(Courtney) of Davenport, Iowa; 
Jeff Schreck Jacobson(Angela) of Minneapolis Minnesota; Ashleigh Schreck and Lennon Schreck 
of Alpine, UT; her mother, Irene Bartley of Tecumseh; 
her sister Bonnie Draper of Tecumseh; her brothers Tim Bartley of Tecumseh, Chris Bartley (Beth) of Saline, 
and Gene Bartley (Dianah) of Ann Arbor; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Bartley.  Services will be held at 
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 
140 Sand Creek Highway, Adrian MI, 11:00 A. M. Friday April 24th. Visitation will be from 9-11 A. M.,

She was born March 19, 1928, in Huntington Woods, Michigan, the daughter of 
Rev. H. Ed & Jessie (Walton) Weinzierl. On November 16, 1946, she married Frederick N. Filer Jr., he survives.
In addition to her husband Frederick, she is survived by two daughters; Janet (Jim) Thompson of Tennessee 
and Rebecca Waymon of California, three grandsons; Jesse (Tammy) Thompson of Almont , 
Jason (Jennifer) Thompson of Dryden and Christopher Waymon of Wareham, MA, six great grandchildren, 
and five siblings; Elva (Charles) Mafteiu of Florida, Jean Brand of Minnesota, Daniel (Charlotte) Weinzierl of Livonia, 
James Weinzierl of Sterling Heights and Dorcas (Lynn) Lindeman of Manistee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; David Weinzierl, Ruth Dawson and Carol Grant.

160.  Andrew E.K. Sprow
Age 71, of Adrian, passed away, April 29, 2009. He was born November 27, 1937, in Adrian, MI,
the son of Joseph & Sara (June) Sprow. He entered the Air Force on April 30, 1957 and was discharged 
in April of 1963. On March 31, 2000, he married his best friend Barbara Nye, she survives. 
Andrew loved to bowl and roller skate. He was also a very talented artist and he loved helping people, 
working on old cars, dancing and spending time with his family. Andrew always whistled a tune and 
everyone loved to hear him whistle. He was an active member of A.A. for 33 years. He has left behind many friends. 
In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his brother Kenneth Sprow of Norridge, IL, three step-sons; 
Larry (Linda) Barber of Hudson, James (Kristin) Barber of Adrian and Joseph (Shannon) Barber of Tampa, FL, 
17 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, seven sisters in law; Colleen Sprow, Jewel Sprow and 
Ruth Sprow all of Adrian, Susan McCoy of Oklahoma, Delores Miller of Tecumseh, Carol Benjamin of Saline 
and Joyce Barrett of Adrian, one brother in law, Duane Barrett of Washington, along with his nieces and nephews,
Kevin Sprow, William Sprow, Gale Baker, Joseph Sprow, Sarah Wells, Sandra Clute, Diane Voss, Debra, Donna 
and Danny Sprow. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother & sister, along with three brothers,

and he survives. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Adrian. In addition to her husband Ken, 
she is survived by two sons, Joseph David (Melissa) Alainz and William Neal (Diane) Murphy; her parents, 
Carmon and Ada Murphy; 7 grandchildren; brother, Carson (Jan) Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janine Kay Alainz, and two brothers, David and Sam.

of Waterville, OH; seven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren and 30 great, great grandchildren.

Age 91, passed away, Sunday, May 3, 2009, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. 
She was born in Bridgeport, CT, to Edgar & Lola Houston. Billie married Ernest Charron on July 25, 1936 
and he preceded her in death in 1970. She was a secretary at King Seeley and was the office manager 
at the Ann Arbor Town Club for many years. She enjoyed ceramics, both creating and teaching. 
She was the beloved mother of Carole (Donald) DeMarco of Tecumseh, grandmother of Judy (Jon) Hintz of 
Ann Arbor and Timothy DeMarco of Adrian and great grandmother of Jason and Kristine Hintz. 
Other survivors include a sister in law, Tillie Bitten of Brighton, many nieces and nephews and her "ceramic girls". 
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, James Houston and sister Dorothy Bachilla. 
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a later.

Age 85, of Tecumseh, passed away May 3, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. 
She was born February 6, 1924 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Carl and Veronica (Peters) Benner. 
On September 7, 1946, she married Richard J. Hunt in Detroit, MI. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2001. 
Helen was retired from Michigan Bell. She enjoyed china painting, glasswork, reading, and traveling. 
She was a member of St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church. Helen is survived by six children; 
James (Jean) of Wickenburg, AZ, Douglas (Cynthia) of White Lake, MI, Janette (Michael) Sheehan 
of Pinckney, MI, Diane (Marion) Dover of Tipton, MI, Thomas (Sherry) of Wickenburg, AZ, and 
Therese (Glenn) Lindsay of Southgate, MI; 22 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 
two sisters, Jean (Gil) Mroz and Pat (Don) Fick, and two brothers, Harold and Tom (Marilyn) Benner. 
In addition to her husband Richard she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Carl, 
and a sister, Norma. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. 
Friday, May 8, 2009 at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church in the Irish Hills, with the

Age 66, of Tecumseh, passed away May 3,2009 in Adrian. Lavern was born January 17, 1943 in 
Tecumseh the son of Lavern T. and Francis (Walton) Mansfield. Lavern was a life long resident of 
Tecumseh and retired from the Tecumseh Products in 2006. He was a lover of old cars and enjoyed 
being with his friends. Mr. Mansfield, a single man, never married and is survived by his loving friends, 
Curtis and Irene Isom and their children and grandchildren, Robin, John, Jennifer and Jacob Carlson; 
John, Lance, and Casey Isom; Tracie, Bob, Matthew, Rinnie, Howard, Carole and 
Debbie Anspach and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Shirley was born November 22, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia to Robert & Roberta (Rankin) Brady.
Shirley with her forever smile enjoyed fishing, bingo, visiting with friends & family. 
Shirley's marriage to Fred Hunter ended in divorce. On May 8, 1998, Shirley married Clemmie Scott. 
They were separated.  Shirley was a member of New Life Ministries in Albion. 
Shirley was employed for several years at Corning Glass Co., J & L Plating, thur AARP 
she worked for (AIM) Albion Interfaith Ministries, and Albion Volunteer Service Organization. 
She leaves fond memories with her special sister Jacqueline (David) Etchison, Albion, 3 special pets she 
called her nieces Lacey, Tiffany and Babe. Shirley also leaves her long time companion 
Charles (Lonnie Love) Moore, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Shirley has joined her parents, sisters Mary, Joyce and brother James.

180.  Lawrence "Larry" Coscarelli
Age 83, of Tecumseh, passed away May 9, 2009. Larry was born August 23, 1925 
in Adrian, MI, the son of Frank and Angela (Scaccia) Coscarelli. In January of 1952, 
he married Rushia Sparks in Tecumseh. She preceded him in death November 18, 1996.
Larry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Larry was a longtime Downtown Tecumseh 
businessman, owning and operating the Candy Kitchen and later Larry's Grill. He was a member of 
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh. Larry was a member of the Elks Club, AMVETS of Eustis, FL, 
and Adrian Moose Lodge. He was one of the original designers of the kitchen for the Food Prep Program 
at VoTech. Due to his business expertise, Larry was called upon many times to facilitate the start up of 
other local restaurants. Larry was a great family man and adored his grandchildren. 
He will be dearly missed by both family and friends. Larry is survived by 5 children,

Gina Coscarelli (Terry Trott) of Tecumseh, Patti (Mark) Coscarelli-Baugh of Adrian, Steve Coscarelli of Tecumseh,

Evan, Claire, Dominic, Victor; brother, Francis Coscarelli of Adrian; and longtime friend and companion, 
Lois Swift. In addition to his wife, Rushia, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.

Age 89, of Tecumseh, passed away May 10, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. 
She was born July 26, 1919 in Tipton, MI the daughter of Ora and Minnie (West) Jones. 
On November 26, 1946 she married Kenneth L. Munger. He preceded her in death February 5, 1974. 
Gertrude was a 1938 Clinton High School graduate. She worked at both the Manchester Ford Motor Co. 
and Faraday in Tecumseh. Gertrude loved to play cards - euchre, bridge and pinochle. 
She and her husband bowled for many years in the Tipton League in Clinton. Most of all she loved being with 
her grandchildren. For more than eighty years, she was a member of the 
Tipton Community Congregational Church and also volunteered for the Herrick Hospital Auxiliary for many years.  
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (John) Dewey; son, Charles (baiba) Munger all of Tecumseh; 
two grandchildren, Jacob and Rebecca Munger of Adrian; one step grandson, Chad Dewey and his daughters 
Alison and Caleigh of Illinois; step granddaughter, Lisa Mauch of Lebanon, VA and brother Robert Jones of Tecumseh.
Besides her husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, 
Thelma Swarts, Myrtle Bell Radant and Fern Snyder and four brothers, Steve, William, John and Glenn Jones.
At her request cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 2:30 P. M. Saturday, May 16, 2009 
at the Tipton Community Congregational Church with Pastor John Deuble officiating. 
Burial of cremains will follow at Franklin Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Gertrude may be made to the

She married Rodney Miller in May of 1950, he preceded her in death in 1986. Betty was known as 
Mee Maw by her grandchildren. 
She enjoyed painting, gardening, fishing, dancing, and leaves behind her beloved cat Bow.
Betty loved horseback riding with her favorite horse, Wiggles.

Nancy Avalene Shotts in Fulton, MS. She preceded him in death. Gene was retired from Ford Motor Company, 
Saline Plant. He was a member of Church of Christ in Adrian. Gene is survived by his children; 
Elizabeth Williams (Jan Long), Greg (Laurie) Williams, Brandon (Karen) Williams, three grandchildren, Kylie,

Age 90, of Britton, passed away May 22, 2009. Edsel was born November 29, 1918 in Deerfield, 
Michigan the son of Floyd and Edna (Opel) Burnor. On August 16, 1947 he married Margaret Osburn and 
she survives. He was a graduate of Deerfield High School. Edsel was a veteran of World War II serving as a 
Military Police in the Pacific. He retired from the Tecumseh Products after many years of service. 
While working at the Products he also engaged in farming. After retiring he spent winters in Florida 
and enjoyed gardening, farming and fishing. Besides his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his sons, 
Richard Burnor and Larry (Amy) Burnor; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Erika) Burnor and Sarah Burnor and 
great granddaughter, Isabelle Burnor. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Johnny; sister,

They had two children, Michael Thomas Fenstemacher and Kimberly Lynn Fenstemacher. Michaelene spent most 
of her career working for Adrian Typewriter Sales & Service - later named Office Plus. Michaelene served her 
community as a member of the Adrian Public School Board, co-chaired two United Way Campaigns and 
was a past President of Zonta of Lenawee. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, Devils Lake and traveling. 
She is survived by her children Michael of Kalamazoo, MI and Kimberly of Scottsdale, AZ, sister Tamara K. McNeff of 
Jacksonville, FL and step mother Frances E. Michael of Sun City, AZ and two step brothers. She was preceded in death 
by her parents.  Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 30th at

Age 83, of Irish Hills, passed away surrounded by her family on May 26, 2009. Betty was born, Sept. 18, 1925 to 
MaDonna and Raymond Pask and spent most of her life in Tecumseh and Manistique, MI. She married 
Henry Alfred Strand II who was the father of all of her children and preceded her in a sudden death on 
January 17, 1964. She later married Henry (Hank) DeSautel in 1978 who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2006.
Betty enjoyed family gatherings, especially Mothers’ Day. She was an avid board game and card player. 
Betty worked at the Visitor Center in Manistique for many years and liked to camp and travel in her motor home.
Betty is survived by 11 children, 3 step-children; 2 brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; 64 grandchildren; 
66 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grand-child.

later this week. Harry Wayne Harvey is survived by his son Wayne Travis Harvey (24) of Dickinson, ND. 
and his lovely daughter Jaime Leigh Harvey (21) of El Monte, CA. He is also survived by his two brothers 
Jim (and Patricia) Harvey from Tecumseh, MI. and Kevin (Dawn) Rudisill of Manitou Beach, MI. 
Harry also had two sisters Sharon Elaine Craddick of Liberty, MO. and Denise Scheel of Las Vegas, NV. 
He graduated from J.C. Penney H.S. in Hamilton, MO. in 1967 
and then served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972.  He moved to Arcadia, California after 
leaving the Navy in 1972 where he worked in the finance 
industry. After his 2007 retirement, Harry decided to join his brothers Jim and Kevin in Michigan 
where he made many friends especially at the T-Club, Brownies and the City Limits Diner, all three of Tecumseh, MI. 
A memorial service for Harry will be held soon (TBA) after business hours at the Diner.

She was born March 19, 1954, in Fort Lee, VA, the daughter of Cecil & Viktoria (Reczek) Dixon. Nancy married 
Eddie C. Rohde on August 14, 1976, and they share three children. Nancy is survived by her husband, 
Eddie C. Rohde and their three children, Eddie W. (Jennifer) Rohde, Melissa (Trevor) Weaver and 
Michael (Rachel) Rohde, six grandchildren, Trevor Jr., Alex, Cadence, Xander, Allison and Nathan. 
She is also survived by two sisters and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by

Adrian, MI. Barry worked at Simplex Paper Company and Hunter Moving & Storage for over 10 years. 
After 20 years of service he retired from Northern Telecom in West Palm Beach, Florida. 
Barry loved collecting toy farm tractors, watching the Detroit Tigers and being outdoors gardening. 
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, two daughters; Linda (Stephen) Roncallo and Ann Bakar, one grandson; 
Alex Mohr, seven brothers; Dorman, Robert, Larry, Richard, Michael, Keith and Dale, Jr., four sisters;

Age 92, of Adrian, passed away, June 2, 2009. Jewel was born in Townly, Alabama, on 
September 29, 1916, to Robert Lee & Mamie (Guthrie) Johnson. She is survived by her children,
Mamie (Burleson) Overton, Sue (Burleson) Barnhart both Adrian and Terry Burleson of Texas. 
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by husbands, Vidus Burleson and Roy Zibbell, a daughter, 
Nancy (Burleson) Coopshaw, a granddaughter, Tami Fischer and a grandson, Scott Clark.

229.  Douglas Eugene “Pops” Dickson
Age 74, of Milan, Mich., beloved father and grandfather, died on June 4, 2009. Douglas died peacefully at 
Herrick Medical Center in Tecumseh, Mich., after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by 
family and close friends.  Douglas was born on Jan. 2, 1935, in Sylvia, Tenn., to William and Mabel Dickson. 
Douglas grew up in Wayne, Mich. He had a long and enjoyable career with the Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric 
Hospital where he worked as a Food service supervisor from 1951-1988. Douglas was a member of the 
Milan Moose Lodge for 10 years. Douglas also enjoyed spending time playing softball and had received a 
trophy for pitcher of the year. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting with his friends, Jerry Zinker, 
Ron Desbrough and Ron Dingman.  Douglas is survived by his good friend and ex-spouse Sharon Dickson; 
daughters, Deborah (Tim) Unold, Diane (Rodney) Schroeder, Dawn Spack (Dave Hessler); 
four grandchildren, Toni, David, Kristina and James, and three great-grandchildren. He had many other dear friends, 
including Matt Byrd who was always there to lend him a hand. Douglas was
preceded in death by his father, William Dickson.
The family would like to give special thanks to April and Linda from Hospice of Lenawee for the 
extraordinary care given to Douglas. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to

Age 71, of Onsted, passed away, June 6, 2009, at home. He was born December 30, 1937, 
in Toledo, OH, the son of Lloyd Baker & Jean Jacobs. On May 21, 1960, 
he married Beverly Holloway, she survives. Ken lived in Addison for 35 years before 
moving to Brooklyn. Ken had two nieces, Loren and Courtney Carpenter, who adopted 
him as their grandfather. He was very fond of Steve and Julie Haas and their family, 
they kept him going after he retired and were a second family to him. 
In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by two sons, Mark (Cheryl) Baker of 
Manitou Beach and Mike (Jessica) Baker of Adrian, one granddaughter, Tanya (Derek) Shetterly 
of Tennessee, one great grandson, Dalton, one step grandson, Dakota, three sisters, 
Rebecca Adams of Brooklyn, Majorie (Ron) Smith of Adrian, Joanne (Elwood) St. John 
of Jackson, two brothers, Thomas Baker and William Baker both of Jerome 
and several nieces, nephews and in laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ronald Baker.

Age 77, of Adrian, went to be with The Lord, June 13, 2009, at Bixby Medical Center. 
She was surrounded by loving family, friends and the wonderful caregivers at 
Bixby Medical Center. Mrs. Camacho was born February 25, 1932, in Matamoros, Tamps., 
Mexico, the son of Rafael & Elvira(Sanchez) Vallejo. On August 13, 1952, she married 
Aurelio V. Camacho, he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Camacho lived in Adrian since 1955. She owned and operated Camacho Tortillas 
until 1976. She also owned several restaurants in the area such as The Hideaway, La Monita, 
and had part ownership of Taco Hut. Maria was an active member of 
Calvary Baptist Church for over 20 years.
She is survived by her two sons, Sergio (Stephanie O'Connor) Camacho, 
and Adam (Johnna Raymond) Camacho, both of Adrian, six grandchildren, Magan, 
Jon-Eric, Nicholas, Jasmine, BreAnne and Kaya.
She is also survived by many other loving family members, friends and church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rafael & Elvira Vallejo, husband Aurelio,
siblings, Manuel Vallejo, Elvira Rodriguez and Guadalupe Vallejo.
Maria was a loving and caring wife, proud mother, grandmother, loving aunt and 
wonderful friend to all. She leaves us with fond memories and will be forever in our thoughts.
